Employment, social protection and the continued right to live and work in Scotland, as well as freedom of movement to live and work across Europe, were among the themes raised by EU nationals from 24 member states during a dedicated event hosted by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon today (Wednesday).
In the first gathering of its kind to be held in the UK, the First Minister and senior cabinet members listened to questions and concerns from the audience following the UK-wide vote to leave the EU.

Face protection masks, recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a way of preventing Covid-19 are seen packaged in the Association of the Satere-Mawe Indigenous Women (AMISM), located in the West Zone of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil on 21 July 2020. AMISM has survived the sale of masks as its traditional handcrafted products - necklaces, earrings, bracelets, musical instruments and other objects made from Amazonian products - have been stalled since the arrival of the disease caused by the new coronavirus, which caused a stop in tourism and the closure of local commerce. The masks were initially designed for the residents themselves to protect themselves from the disease. Then, the material started to be donated to indigenous relatives in other regions and communities in Amazonas. The masks' success led to orders from people and companies interested in production, which made masks a profitable alternative for AMISM members to overcome the difficulties imposed by the pandemic. During the pandemic of Coronavirus (COVID-19) the NHS staff essential clinics in full PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) to ensure safety. Most operations are still on hold, but the NHS are valiantly fighting to ensure everyone is safe. I obtained permission for this portrait.
At 3:23pm on 03/03/14, units of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District responded to Security Public Storage at 2071 Camino Ramon in San Ramon for a Hazmat call. Employees were reporting several barrels containing an unknown substance (a powder of some sort) and so along with Battalion 31 (which assumed Camino IC) and Engine 31, Hazmat 35 responded to the call. After all but one test had been done by Hazmat 35, the barrels were deemed not hazardous and Battalion 31 and Engine 31 cleared. Hazmat 35 remained on scene after I left just to be sure there was no hazard.
San Ramon Valley Fire District Battalion 31 was running a mid-2000s era Chevrolet Tahoe on this day.
