The Data Protection Office contacted us when they wanted to produce this primary piece of communication for the youth sector. Our approach was to use striking illustration and strong graphic elements to appeal to the audience. The end result has been a huge success for them.

Shot using the Johnnyopticon, a homemade Lensbaby clone consisting of a 58mm DCX and a -235mm NMN, connected to the camera using a flexible mount made from a bicycle inner tube. Shot wide open (f/ 1.8)
These little bottles were fun to make,thrown on the wheel then fired and glazed with antique style glazes, they are waterproof and food safe so they could be used for storing fragrant oils.
Witch protection bottles are used to ward off or break spells cast by witches. People who believe themselves to be hexed would fill one of these bottles with items such as their own hair, fingernails, blood and often urine as well as rusty nails and pins, broken glass, a piece of cloth cut into a heart shape. sometimes red wine and herbs are used and anything small and personal. Then the bottle is sealed with melted wax and a firmly fitted cork and either buried in the garden or placed somewhere where it would never be found. The idea was that while the bottle with its contents stayed intact the hex would be broken and no further spells could be cast upon them. Archaeologists have unearthed witch bottles still intact, hundeds of years old.

After Earth Day one and founding Earth Day twowe created and built the loft housing Laboratories for Metaphoric Environments (LME) in Manhattan’s east sixty eight street just across form Avadon’s (the world famous fashion photographer) studios and in a building owned by Mr. Fernandez who ran a high end commercial bakery on the ground floor. In Union Square I had met Adam Alexander who at time was special assistant to Mayor Lindsay. Adam lived on the West side and had several doctorates in mathematics. He somehow decided to collaborate with me to form LME and so from 1971 till 1973 when we left New York for Jackson Tennessee we had conversations which I documented with words and sketches.
What I later called word grams (after the DaDa movement) were my cognitive responses to reify these subjects through my fascination with geometry, graphics, design, drafting, and isometrics extrapolations. Adam knew I was doing this and after looking at my work sheet often would interrupt and say: “yes, that’s right” or ask “is that what you think”?
The previous year I did much the same thing with a graduate student from City College named Phil Winters who would document our conversations into his thesis based on a system he called: “TAG” (trust, authority and guidance). When Adam was not at the lab Henry Classon and I would likewise converse so that he could write the prospectus for LME.
It was only when I was writing and managing trainees and consultants for ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia did I then mount all 63 word grams on cardboard and then with dry mount film glazed each to the cardboard. In 1981 I thought these would eventually be exhibited as relics of the times.
Sadly, Adam disappeared, as had Phil and so many others from this very creative time. In 1972, after packing Plexiglas sculptures, pen and ink sketches, paintings and our personal effects Christina joined me as I assumed directing the architecture department for an insurance company where I designed two Tennessee cities and one village in Belmopan. At that time a local gallery owner invited us to exhibit our art and even a gallery in Memphis exhibited and sold many of my Sheba pen and ink fantasy drawings.

There are several different methods for protecting hydrangeas. I’m going to use 2 of them. The first method will be used on my large mature hydrangeas. I’m wrapping them with burlap and stuffing the burlap with leaves. This should insulate the stems from the cold and keep the deer out.

The 52-mile Steens Mountain Backcountry Byway provides access to four campgrounds and the views from Kiger Gorge, East Rim, Big Indian Gorge, Wildhorse and Little Blitzen Gorge overlooks are not to be missed! We encourage you to visit the CMPA and enjoy the many resources and activities awaiting you.
This is a photograph from the annual BHAA Government Services/Social Protection Group's 5 Mile Road Race took place on Tuesday 27th May 2013 at 20:00 in Dunboyne, Co. Meath, Ireland. The course is a fast flat course which begins on the Dunboyne-Maynooth Road between the two entrances to Dunboyne Castle Estate. The race then proceeds in an anti-clockwise direction back to the Dunboyne Athletic Club on the Rooske Road in Dunboyne. The race reaches higher standards with every passing year. Paul Gorey and his team of volunteers must be given great credit for putting on such a wonderful race event. Thanks are also extended to Dunboyne Athletic Club, the BHAA, and the local community who all make this possible.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There were approximately 500 participants .
Weather: A bright sunny evening with little breeze
Course: This course is fully left handed with very little in the way of inclines. Good road surface. These are nice narrow country roads with shelter provided by mature hedgerows. This year the race finished with 3/4 of a lap of the Dunboyne AC track.
Refreshments: Lots and lots as is the tradition with BHAA Events - served outside the scouts hall at the track.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Ambassador Gomez Camacho, Mexico's Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, speaks with filmaker Roberto Girault and other participants at a film screening. In a collaborative program, the US Mission worked closely with the Mexican Mission and FIAPF, the International Federation of Film Producers Federations, to highlight the importance of intellectual property rights for film producers and artists around the world, and therefore also for economic growth and development. The US Mission hosted a showing of the movie “el estudiante” by Mexican filmmaker Roberto Girault, followed by a talk by Girault on the making of the movie and the importance of IP protection to the success of his work.

Comme les ksour de Douiret ou Guermessa, il a permis aux Berbères de se maintenir, tout en établissant des relations de clientèle et de protection avec les tribus arabes arrivées notamment lors des invasions hilaliennes au XIe siècle. « Lorsque le risque d'invasion ou de pillage est devenu moins important et avec la sédentarisation des berbères, le village a commencé à se développer sur les flancs de la butte et vers le bas » jusqu'à la création du nouveau village de Chenini vers 1960.
