À l'origine, le panama se fabriquait exclusivement en feuilles de bombanaxa, mais cette matière fragile fut abandonnée avec la popularisation mondiale du chapeau.
La matière première utilisée est la feuille de Carludovica palmata, appelée paja toquilla, une espèce de palmiers poussant en Équateur. Les Équatoriens préfèrent parler de sombrero fino de paja toquilla plutôt que de panama. Après la récolte, les cœurs de palmes sont transportés à dos de mulets jusqu’aux villages, où la palme est divisée en fibres fines. Il existe deux traitements de la fibre : à Cuenca, la paille est bouillie pour éliminer la chlorophylle alors qu'à Montecristi, elle est séchée au soleil et blanchie à la fumée de soufre. Puis les artisans procèdent au tissage qui peut durer jusqu'à huit mois.
En 2009, l'Institut équatorien de la propriété intellectuelle reconnaît l'appellation d'origine contrôlée du panama. En 2012, l'Unesco l'inscrit au patrimoine culturel immatériel de l'humanité.

According to the epic Ramayana, King Rama of India is married to Sita. Ravana who was King Of Sri Lanka abducted Sita to Lanka when Jatayu the name of this fallen bird tried to rescue her. Jatayu fought valiantly with Ravana, but as Jatayu was very old Ravana soon defeated him, clipping his wings, and Jatayu fell onto the rocks on this mountain. Rama and his brother Lakshmana while on the search for Sita, chanced upon the stricken and dying Jatayu, who informed them of the battle with Ravana and told them that Ravana had headed South.
It is built 1200 ft above sea level on top of the same mountain.

It’s been such a long time since I did a bird shoot, whilst out with Bobby I came across this mate pair of Swans particularly close to the rive side with a perfect light and angle from the Sun, this was a golden opportunity to get back into more wildlife focused captures.
This pair were close to a black Coot and when I reviewed the shot, it gave this impression that this male was highly protective of his lady, as every man should be!

Rathaus underground station in Cologne, Germany
A pleasing contrast of midnight blue and silvery gleam
When completed, the new north–south suburban railway line in Cologne will have eight stops. While the last stretch of the line is scheduled to come into operation in 2016, Rathaus station has already proven itself fit for everyday operation. Located directly beneath the historic market, Rathaus underground station provides quick and convenient access to the centre of Cologne's historic Altstadt (old town) district, which was previously only accessible by bus.
The station, covering almost 3,000 m², lies 16 metres below ground. Its design is characterised by a fresh contrast of midnight blue and silver. A large proportion of the wall area is velvety-smooth blue, while the ceilings and certain sections of the walls are a shiny silver. The walls and ceilings are clad in hot-dip galvanised and powdercoated steel sheet modules, which are perforated in the ceiling area so that they also absorb sound.
Above the entrances, main traffic areas and footpaths throughout the station, WE-EF DOC240 recessed exterior downlights ensure excellent visibility and safety as well as aid orientation. The luminaires had to be integrated into various building situations – either installed in circular sections of the expanded metal ceilings or combined with an installation tube and mounted directly on the concrete ceilings. The DOC240 downlights in the underground station have proven to be versatile, not just in terms of the installation and mounting options, but also in relation to lighting techniques.
While the stairways and escalators are illuminated from a relatively high position, the height between floors in the main traffic areas is rather low. With different light sources in varying wattages – in this case HIT and CFL lamps, and two symmetric light distributions [M] medium and [EE] very narrow beam – the WE-EF luminaires provide exactly the right amount of light for the unique spaces.
All DOC240 downlights used in this project are fitted with vibration protection in order to extend their service life. Luminaires mounted at especially high installation positions are equipped with a device to lower the luminaire to facilitate ease of maintenance.

Kin'unkaku (錦雲閣) is a pavilion built after the Meiji Restoration on the site of the demolished Iwakuni Jinya (陣屋 administrative headquarters).
The site for Jinya is now converted to the Kikkou Park (吉香公園).
Iwakuni had been part of the Mouri's Choushuu Han (長州藩 Choushuu domain) but had been ruled autonomously by the Kikkawa (吉川氏), a subordinate of the Mouri.
Iwakuni was planned as a castle town using the Nishikigawa as the natural moat of protection. Jinya was built at the foot of the hill, on which the castle was constructed. The water in the photo is an inner moat for the Jinya compound. Kintaikyou was built as the main entrance to the Samurai area on the narrow strip between the hill and the river.
Protection, present and past, in the form of moorings for the fishing boats protected by the harbour wall from bad weather and the remains of a castle on the hilltop that once provided security against unwelcome human attention. The new and old lifeboat stations show a history of protection for the fishermen that is able to extend out to sea when needed.
This town of Tenby (Welsh: Dinbych-y-pysgod, meaning fortlet of the fish) is situated in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park on the western side of Carmarthen Bay, in West Wales.

Ma petite protégée, sous double protection par sa cousine
la Mésange Charbonnière, qui est souvent avec elle et qui ne la quitte pas des yeux .. sans la déranger ni l'agresser..!
tendresse à regarderr sans modérations,
une scène pas commune mais que j'ai déjà souvent observé
et qui laisse supposer qu'elle la protège des éventuelles prédateurs..(son envol entraîne régulière l'envol de la tite bleue, et ils reviennent souvent à nouveau ensemble),

My little protégé, under the double protection of her cousin, the Great Tit, who is often with her and never takes her eyes off her... without disturbing or attacking her!
A tender sight to behold,
an unusual scene, but one I've often observed,
and which suggests that she's protecting her from potential predators... (her flight regularly triggers the little blue tit's flight, and they often return together again).

Seen in the arboretum in Rogów :)
The Rogów Arboretum, established in 1925, is the Station of Protection and Shaping of Forest Ecosystems. It covers an area of 54 ha and is of an exceptional character as compared with other centers of the type in Poland or Europe, because it has been built from the very beginning as a research – didactic object and, moreover, it was located in the forest and has been tightly connected with the forest experimental study from the moment of its origin. The Arboretum consists of three basic parts: the dendrological collections (about 22 ha), the forest experimental plots (about 18 ha) and the alpine garden (1.5 ha).
The dendrological collections that is tree and shrub individuals planted either separately or in groups or small area forms, are mainly concentrated in the central and southern part of the Arboretum, covering a total of 2350 species and varieties. The Arboretum’s specialty is its collection of maples and shrubs from China. This segment is managed naturally, having the look of more a forest park than a typical botanical garden. The trees give the shelter and the proper microclimate for the introduced trees and shrubs.

Arboretum w Rogowie – należy do grupy najcenniejszych, najbogatszych w gatunki i odmiany drzew i krzewów tego typu ogrodów w Europie. Położony jest w dawnym siedlisku leśnym i ma charakter parku leśnego. Od początku istnienia (1925 r.) podlega pod Wydział Leśny SGGW. Na jego obszarze znajdują się jedne z najbogatszych i najciekawszych kolekcji drzew i krzewów Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej. Najchętniej odwiedzanym miejscem w ogrodzie jest alpinarium. Oprócz wyniesionych na 2 m ponad poziom gruntu skalniaków, założono tu ciąg strumyków, kilka oczek wodnych i 5-arowy staw z wyspą. W rogowskim alpinarium można obejrzeć ponad 400 gatunków i odmian roślin, pochodzących z gór całego świata. W większości są to byliny, ale nie tylko. Rosną tu także krzewy i drzewa terenów górzystych, np. majestatyczne świerki serbskie, kształtne limby czy srebrzyste jodły kalifornijskie.

According to an old rural superstition, if honeysuckle is growing around the door of a house, it will bring good luck to the inhabitants and deter evil spirits from entering.
I don't think I would be able to manage too many sunrise shoots during the summer months, I thought I was having a bad dream when the alarm went off at 3:00am this morning...😳
Once I got on location at Beachy Head there wasn't a cloud in the sky, however the very calm high tide did provide the most amazing sense of calm...😊
