An umbrella pine tree giving shade to an old vineyard Provençal cabanon.
"Vineyard cabanons take us back to the time when country people didn't own any tractors or cars and spent whole days working in the vineyard. The cabanons were places where they could rest and find shelter in case of bad weather. The fireplace brought a little warmth and comfort. It was also the place to have lunch - the fireplace could then be used to heat up the meal prepared at home and brought to the fields. And finally they were used as storage places, where tools were left in the evening, before going back home. The larger ones sometimes have an attic and/or a cellar. They often have two rooms: one for men, the other for the horse, a precious assistant to the winegrower for his work in the vineyard. He too was sheltered in case of bad weather, and the room also allowed to store his food. We can say that vineyard cabanons were social markers: the more money people had, the bigger the cabanon they built and the more decorated it was (cornices, wooden laces, friezes, freestone door and window lintels, sundials...)"
In the protection of its Basket Star and the darknes of the night, the small shrimp eats everything that the current drifts by.

The last time I was here was in 2015. Not a lot has changed, in or outside of the home. I was planning on taking some film shots of this place, but my camera batteries flaked out. Luckily, I had my little back up with me. This will be the last time I photograph this particular place. It's been fun!

This Swan in Battersea Park London, is in a protected area.
Behind him, you can see some red and white reflections in the water. This is from a tape that is extended right across the lake, to stop boats from entering this area during the nesting season.
It really helps in making sure that the many varieties of waterbirds, are undisturbed at this time of the year.

My daily work is as a building manager in sprinkler systems. I have therefore never looked at sprinkler nozzles as anything else than what it is, a resting and passive local firefighter, ready for action. But then I was wrong, again :-)

Socotra cormorant Phalacrocorax nigrogularis is endemic to Arabia, found nowhere else across the globe apart from the Arabian Gulf and Arabian Sea.
Socotra cormorant is among the most skilled fish-catching birds in Bahrain and Arabian Gulf. It dives more than 10 m chasing fish underwater.
The nesting colony of Socotra cormorant Phalacrocorax nigrogularis on Hawar Island, south of Bahrain, is among the largest in the world. As the case with other cormorant species, nesting colonies of Socotra cormorant fluctuate widely in size over time.
Socotra cormorant lays eggs in small depressions in the ground with thousands of dense nests forming sizable breeding colonies. As such, heavy rain and cold winter temperatures often lead to mass mortality of eggs and chicks.
Seagulls are among key predators of Socotra cormorant Phalacrocorax nigrogularis on Hawar Islands. Despite continuous protection by parents, gulls succeed to prey on cormorant’s eggs and young chicks.

Trees and rhododendrons in the arboretum in Rogów :)
The Rogów Arboretum, established in 1925, is the Station of Protection and Shaping of Forest Ecosystems. It covers an area of 54 ha and is of an exceptional character as compared with other centers of the type in Poland or Europe, because it has been built from the very beginning as a research – didactic object and, moreover, it was located in the forest and has been tightly connected with the forest experimental study from the moment of its origin. The Arboretum consists of three basic parts: the dendrological collections (about 22 ha), the forest experimental plots (about 18 ha) and the alpine garden (1.5 ha).
The dendrological collections that is tree and shrub individuals planted either separately or in groups or small area forms, are mainly concentrated in the central and southern part of the Arboretum, covering a total of 2350 species and varieties. The Arboretum’s specialty is its collection of maples and shrubs from China. This segment is managed naturally, having the look of more a forest park than a typical botanical garden. The trees give the shelter and the proper microclimate for the introduced trees and shrubs.

Arboretum w Rogowie – należy do grupy najcenniejszych, najbogatszych w gatunki i odmiany drzew i krzewów tego typu ogrodów w Europie. Położony jest w dawnym siedlisku leśnym i ma charakter parku leśnego. Od początku istnienia (1925 r.) podlega pod Wydział Leśny SGGW. Na jego obszarze znajdują się jedne z najbogatszych i najciekawszych kolekcji drzew i krzewów Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej. Najchętniej odwiedzanym miejscem w ogrodzie jest alpinarium. Oprócz wyniesionych na 2 m ponad poziom gruntu skalniaków, założono tu ciąg strumyków, kilka oczek wodnych i 5-arowy staw z wyspą. W rogowskim alpinarium można obejrzeć ponad 400 gatunków i odmian roślin, pochodzących z gór całego świata. W większości są to byliny, ale nie tylko. Rosną tu także krzewy i drzewa terenów górzystych, np. majestatyczne świerki serbskie, kształtne limby czy srebrzyste jodły kalifornijskie.

Protection, present and past, in the form of moorings for the fishing boats protected by the harbour wall from bad weather and the remains of a castle on the hilltop that once provided security against unwelcome human attention. The new and old lifeboat stations show a history of protection for the fishermen that is able to extend out to sea when needed.
This town of Tenby (Welsh: Dinbych-y-pysgod, meaning fortlet of the fish) is situated in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park on the western side of Carmarthen Bay, in West Wales.

Any resemblance to real events and cats is absolutely non-coincidental. I never took Pixie to the beach, but my beach bag has suffered the same fate several times (like all my bags).
Juvenile female Common Bluetail damselfly (Ischnura elegans) in the evening light - behold the pale parts and the pink tail end - the non-black parts of this damselfly will turn completely blue in the end :-)
Seen in the landscape protection area "Weserniederung" near Intschede in the rural district Verden - Lower Saxony - Germany.
Junge weibliche Große Pechlibelle (Ischnura elegans) im Abendlicht - beachte die blassen Anteile und das rosa Ende - die nicht-schwarzen Teile dieser Libelle werden sich am Ende komplett blau färben :-)
Gesehen im Landschaftsschutzgebiet "Weserniederung" bei Intschede im Landkreis Verden - Niedersachsen.
