A FEARLESS™ Painting I created with the intention of exploring protection.

It was only after I'd studied this photo back at the computer that I realised that window grills had been fitted where there in fact no windows...

I wonder who Big Dog is?

The model is too old to be a Defender it is a 'One Ten'. They were named Defender in to avoid possible confusion with the new Discovery, so from 1991 the Ninety and the One Ten were renamed the Defender 90 and Defender 110.

Despite me being picky this is a well cared for example, by the looks of it recently resprayed in military green (complete with Union flag sticker like the British Army units).

River Dargle Flood Defence Scheme.

These images were taken during the third week of October, 2016.

Between the M11 motorway, and the Upper Dargle Road / Hazelwood areas, a stream has run for many years. As well as running from the Fassroe region (west above the M11) this also funnels much of the water run-off from the motorway itself.

There is a culvert running under the road and draining directly into the river opposite The Slang/Rehills. A branch also runs parallel and through the Egan Business Park before exiting under the road and into the Dargle close to what is identified in historic Ordnance Survey maps as 'Rose Cottage - Laundry'.

There are plans to lay a proper pipe system to channel this water directly across to the Dargle. No doubt a welcome relief to householders along this stretch of road, given that their properties have been victim to the flash flooding that is happening more often due to changes in the meteorlogical systems, compounded by developments on the opposite side of the motorway.

The downside of this work is the removal of many trees here, and the consequent unwelcome exposure to said properties.

A visit to Protection Island

The Data Protection Office contacted us when they wanted to produce this primary piece of communication for the youth sector. Our approach was to use striking illustration and strong graphic elements to appeal to the audience. The end result has been a huge success for them.

A five row shelterbelt such as this one is often used for farmstead or livestock protection.

Resource Concern: Energy efficiency of equipment and facilities

Windbreaks or shelterbelts are barriers used to reduce wind speed and usually consist of trees, shrubs, or a combination. For the greatest protection, the windbreak needs to be oriented perpendicular to the troublesome winds. In South Dakota and the great plains region, the windbreak is placed on the north and west sides of the area needing protection.

The diversion of wind and reduction in wind speed behind a windbreak modifies the environmental conditions in this sheltered zone. The sheltered zone extends as far as ten to fifteen times the height of the windbreak downwind from the windbreak. The greatest wind reduction occurs between two to five times the height of the windbreak downwind. For maximum wind protection, the windbreak needs to be dense and tall.

The farmstead located in the sheltered zone will require less energy for heating due to the modified environmental conditions. Individual savings depend on local site and climatic conditions, the building’s construction quality, an individual’s living habits, and the design and condition of the windbreak.

Windbreaks may also be used to:

• Protect livestock – increase feed efficiency, increase weight gains, increase survival of newborns, improve animal health, and ultimately increase profits

• Reduce wind erosion by slowing the wind speed and protecting the area directly behind the windbreak

• Reduce pesticide drift

• Filter dust and other air pollutants;

• Provide wildlife travel corridors and habitat

• Store carbon

• Reduce noise

Hand protection in the garden

getting paranoid from dealing with the modal argument against physicalism (popularly (in philosophy) known as 'the zombie argument')

10 basic rules:

1. Organise before they rise.

2.They feel no fear, why should you?

3. Use your head: cut off theirs.

4. Blades don't need reloading.

5. Ideal protection = tight clothes, short hair.

6. Get up the staircase, then destroy it.

7. Get out of the car, get onto your bike.

8. Keep moving, keep low, keep quiet, keep alert!

9. No place is safe, only safer.

10. The zombie may be gone, but the threat lives on.

These guards are on one of the entrance of the Presidential residence in Rome, Italy. Look at the fact that there are three guards with different uniforms: I can't really recognize them, perhaps they are police, carabinieri and... I really don't know.

To my eyes this reflects in some way the administration complexity in Italy. The president is not directly elected, and he is not the leader of the government, however he is an important institutional figure. Politics in Italy are really messy, especially these days...

This was one of my favorites from the anniversary pictures I took for my grandparents.

Nayagaon Village, Lalganj Block, Mirzapur District, Uttar Pradesh, India. 24 August 2011: A boy fishes during school time, in a small canal outside the Nayagaon village entrance. The Government primary school of Nayagaon remains shut even during normal working days as per the whims of the school authorities. Children in this area help their parents in the fields, graze cattle, fish or play during school time. Musahar a socially excluded community inhabits this hamlet, which falls under the carpet belt of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The socio-economic profile of the carpet producing districts reflects high-density of socially excluded, principally, Schedule Cast (SC) and Backward Caste (BC) populations, low literacy rates, high infant mortality, marginal land holdings and nearly half the population living below poverty line. The project proposed aims at creating protective environment for children, with emphasis on rights to education and protection in the three districts in Uttar Pradesh- notably Jaunpur, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra. My Thai Tattoo with Mr. Heng in Bangkok, Thailand - dragon with zodiac, power protection, and secret spells

I am here NYC. I am so guarded. The colorful life is there in my past. The blurry future is above and before me. In the middle is the steel that holds together my past and my future.

There was a nice dent on the side, though.

There are several different methods for protecting hydrangeas. I’m going to use 2 of them. The first method will be used on my large mature hydrangeas. I’m wrapping them with burlap and stuffing the burlap with leaves. This should insulate the stems from the cold and keep the deer out.
