Project 52.org, 2013.

My sister who lives in Houston popped in for a surprise visit on her way to Oklahoma yesterday. I had enough notice while she was driving to get my daughter and granddaughter to join us for her quick dinner before she finished her trip to visit my mom this week. This was a BIG blessing. Unexpected and heart-warming. It really lifted me up when I needed it most. I am so blessed by family.

E niente, ce l'ho fatta anche io: dottoressa in filosofia. Una disoccupata in più al mondo.

Essa semana fomos conhecer uma parada que fica no alto da montanha, o lugar era bonito, as construções eram estilo japonês. E enquanto o Felipe brincava na escada, aproveitei para fotografar.

These (round!) gears are attached to one of the original davits from the Titanic, and controlled the lowering of one of its lifeboats.

Yes, *that* Titanic.

"Meglio aggiungere vita ai giorni che giorni alla vita.” Rita Levi Montalcini

But inspiration? - That's when you come home from abroad and are asked: Well, have you found inspiration? - and fortunately you haven't. But the impressions sink in, of course, and may emerge later: None of us has invented the house; that was done many thousands of years ago. -Arne Jacobsen

A small red apple says much to me. It's long stem is reaching upward, imitating it's former attachment. I gaze as it waits in my fruit bowl, so unadorned and simple. The calling is straightforward: to bring good things to my body; sweetness to my mouth. To give itself over, to let me shape it, cut it, use it: whole, in parts, in another form. I may keep it to myself, or I may pass it's segments out; apple pie to feed a multitude, piece by piece.

Project 52: Long

It's been spring yard cleaning month at our house and I was so excited to get all the landscape lights working again, I decided to use them as my subject for this week. I wasn't super happy with how this turned out so I was going to try again tomorrow, a little earlier in the evening. But then I noticed the bonus lights on the right side from a plane landing all drawn out from the long exposure! I think the white line is the exhaust and the red lights are from the wing. Or maybe it is a UFO. Either way, I didn't think I would be so lucky two days in a row.

I used Photomatix Light to combine three exposures and did a couple of adjustments in Lightroom.

A little weathered, but relatively recently fallen.

[ Technique ] So trying the creative side of photography, a while back I found the Bokeh Master Kit online and decided to give it a try. The main concept is using a very large aperture lens (I am using the Canon 50mm f/1.4), having it out of focus, and instead of the circle bokeh, a filter in front causes a different shape. This one was the Radiation symbol of street lights at sunset. I was planning on using it for the Fireworks show, but the results did not turn out as I expected because it was not a single light source

Text in English below.

Diz a Wikipedia que Exposição Multipla é “(…) a técnica pela qual o obturador da camera é aberto mais do que uma vez para sensibilizar o filme múltiplas vezes, normalmente com imagens diferentes. A imagem resultante contem as imagens subsequentes sobrepostas no original.

Wikipedia tells us that Multiple Exposure is “(…)a technique in which the camera shutter is opened more than once to expose the film multiple times, usually to different images. The resulting image contains the subsequent image/s superimposed over the original. The technique is sometimes used as an artistic visual effect and can be used to create ghostly images or to add people and objects to a scene that were not originally there.

Unfortunatelly I don’t have any film loaded into my analogue SLR so I couldn’t do thirs “trick” the “old fashion way”. I had to use today’s resources in order to superimpose two images, one of my wife, the other of a tree. The choice of images is crucial because had I not chose a picture with a “blown” background for my model, and I had foliage bleed into that background, ruining the end result.

Ahh the solar eclipse...the perfect subject for birds of a feather.

Week 03 Summer Memory Theme Go kart.

The was taken on the 605-91 junction while driving from 605N to 91W. Everytime I drive by here, I felt like going go karting on it. I don't know why there's a perfectly good circuit sitting down there. It even includes a pit area on the left!

In Taiwan, areas outside of the river levee are actually developed into parks and recreational areas. During summer, when there are no rains, there would always be a vendor with mini motorcycles and go karts for rent to drive on a small track. I've always wanted to try it, but dad thought I'm too young for it. I was finally able to convince him (or maybe just by complaining all the time :p) to let to me ride around the track in the mini motorcycle. Needless to say, I was soooo happy!
