We hung out in the courtard to make sure that the trick or treaters new we had candy. A decided there wasn't enough fear in Halloween anymore and tried to scare them.
The dried fruit, peel and cherries offered an appealing variety of colours
and textures. The contrast made judging exposure difficult, but I think
this shot achieved a good balance between the dark shadows of the raisins
and the specular highlights of the glossy glace cherries.
#project365 day200 Madrid, Spain
I woke up at the crack of dawn to catch the "Ave" (the quickest train in Spain) to go to Madrid. I slept the entire way, and I very well needed it after my previous night of non-stop wining and dining.
We arrived at La Puerta de Atocha station where my cousin was waiting for me. I hadn't seen her since I moved from Venezuela (more than 10 years) so we had a lot to catch up as well. We walked around Madrid and ended at a Coffee place where we talked for a couple of hrs. The we walked some more and met up with my other cousin for lunch.
My second day in Spain and all I've done is walk and eat, lol. I guess they balance out.
The NSERL (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Laboratories) building on our campus. They call it the dragon building, I call it the Fish Building. It is covered in these scales. This photo is almost identical to one I took over 2 years ago.
When I got home from Orlando, this gorgeous bouquet of roses was waiting for me. We had a nice quiet day with croissants and raspberries for breakfast in bed, watched movies and talked. I could not have asked for a better day.
Long exposure of the night sky as seen from my back porch. This was my first attempt at such an adventure. I intended this to be practice for when I visit Observatory Park this coming Spring/Summer. It is amazing what else is hanging in the night sky just beyond our visual perception. Only the brightest stars are actually visible to the eye.

This photo was taken on the 11th of January, I have just been a little bust and pre-occupied over the past couple of days with the current flooding here in Brisbane, as well as Central Queensland and through Queensland's Outback.
So, this photo is Jackson and I playing the wii. The game is Rugby League 3 and Jackson LOVES it... He's getting better at the game too but he HATES being beaten... and i REFUSE to let the Raiders get beaten, so games where I'm the Raiders are very difficult balancing game between me not wanting the Raiders to lose and Jackson's frustration.
The game was Jackson and Kylie's present to me for Christmas... It's a great Christmas presie!
Went to the Mallow Hotel for dinner tonight, so these English pork sausages are the subject of today's Project 365 pic.
It was served with potato mash, roasted onion, spinach and a great sauce.
All washed down with a pint.
Delicious.
Tonight was the last night of the Dunblane Centre's production of Sondheim's Into The Woods, which was presented outdoors in the grounds of the Hilton Doubletree Dunblane Hydro Hotel, and to celebrate it we had a picnic before the show.
The Hotel itself is the magnificent building at the top of the hill in this photograph. Built in 1878, to allow customers to "take the waters", it has proven a popular place for business and leisure travel alike in the years since. The superb sloping lawns lead down to the B8033 Perth Road, andsomewhere near the bottom of that slope is where we performed the show. The black tent you can see is the technical tent, and the space where the cast are lying was where the audience would later sit.
And so, that's the show over! I had some difficulty getting "into" the show at first, but something really clicked in the last few rehearsals and I really started to enjoy it. Thank you to everyone in theshow - especially Pamela - for making it such a fun time - and a wonderful experience to do a show outdoors!

I bet you always wanted to look up my nose didn't you? This is the only way I could make this work. Plus my scissors and I got into a fight last night and the scissors won. My bangs are WAAAYYY to short.

This was never intended to be my Project365 image for today, but I ran out of time and had to pick something I shot today. This was a high ISO test I was doing during a walk around the block with my daughter. Straight from the camera, then converted in LR to JPG. No adjustments. Better than my D300s can handle but still leaves room for improvement.
Today has been strange.
I'm torn between needing 'me' time after such a long week,
and wanting to spend time with Guapo and the girls.
I took a few minutes to recollect myself on the patio while the girls played.
A vodka + cranberry helped, too.
The end of the day is getting close and I'm still without a picture...
This may look a trivial subject but it turned out to be a fun experiment. The challenge was to capture the movement of the arm of the clock without washing out the lamp.
The whole exposure time was 8 sec, The lamp was on only for 1 sec then I turned it off and I used a flash lamp to "paint" the scene.
