Closed down today and played hookie in the north meadows. the wind was suprisingly strong and blistering on the pond, all you could hear was a wind tunnel.
The day was twenty-four hours long, but it seemed longer. There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go and nothing to buy... and no money to buy it with. ~To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
Someone in my Philosophy class today said that "thinking is a forgotten pastime"... It made me think; do I enjoy being alone with my thoughts? or do I try to distract myself with everything else, just to drone out those inner voices? Maybe life is just too busy to look further down the rabbit hole...
It seems natural to wait for our "real" lives to begin. We ask ourselves; "When will I be happy?" We think perhaps, it's when we start something new or maybe when we finally finish what we started long ago? Maybe when we have more money? more time...
I'm going to try and stop waiting...soon.

My friends Karen and Geoff have a narrowboat moored nearby. I popped down to say hello and caught Karen chilling out with her ukulele before she spotted me

Great seeing the sun this afternoon, if only briefly.

i took 194 photos this afternoon in the beautiful sunny weather. i later edited them down to a tight 21 photos over dinner. but when i snapped this one shot tonight after shampooing his hair i knew this was my moment to remember from today.
"Prepare yourself: Take 15 minutes to rest so you will be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your makeup, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people. Be a little gay and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a lift." ~1950's Home Economics Book for Girls
I'm posting this at my Mum's house, for some reason, our internet at home isn't working. We had our ritual Saturday night dinner at my Mum's place and I cooked two custard and berry tarts; one for my parents and the other for Alex's folks when we visit them tomorrow. The tart was a success, my stepdad requested a couple for his birthday next week instead of cake:o)
Cooking in our kitchen is very similar to time-traveling to the 1950's. Everything seems vintage and I just had a vivid picture of what life would have been like as a housewife whose sole purpose is to wait on her husband's beck and call. I don't know if I could survive being a Stepford Wife...
Have a Happy Weekend guys... Ladies, get your men to cook something lovely and delicious for you :o)
Besides some light coming in through the window, this is lit solely with a flashlight facing the red backdrop

I was pleased with this one. The photo was OOC pretty much as I had observed the scene. The only edit was to bring the highlight in the top right corner down
It's a sad man my friend who's livin' in his own skin and can't stand the company. ~Bruce Springsteen
Snake skin is made up of smooth, dry scales. Periodically, their skin starts molting and they literally crawl of their old ones. I think that's pretty powerful, to have the capacity for self-renewal.
Winter is the harshest three months in the year. The air is thin, it's dark out, and the sunless skin dries out, cracks and tears. It's the time that I realize I am built for the tropics. There is an upside to winter though, it gives me time to think of the changes ahead.
