I like this one because all of the colors balance each other no one color stands out by itself.

Assertion: While David Carson is known for eschewing traditional design knowledge, many of his designs still conform to ideas about legibility.

 

Evidence: This design uses dark text on a light background and vice-versa. Monospace versus proportional type is used to slightly unnerve a keen design eye. The same goes for spacing between letters in the word "legibility" and the leading between the lines. Overall, the design conforms enough with the design principle to break certain elements without losing overall legibility.

 

Commentary: Carson's point is well taken. I don't believe that he's completely doing away with the principles of legibility as might be perceived. I read this as an elevation of the higher ideal of communication, and legibility is a tool to be employed on its behalf.

The small flowers on top look disproportionate in relation to the giant stem they are on.
