Rikugi-en (六義園 ) is a Tokyo metropolitan park in Bunkyō-ku. The name Rikugi-en means Garden of the Six Principles of Poetry which comes from the idea of the six elements in waka poetry while en means garden or park. The park consists of a small pond, trees, and a hill. The traditional Japanese garden within the park is a tourist attraction.
The construction of the park took place between 1695 and 1702 and was headed by Yanagisawa Yoshiyasu by permission of the fifth Tokugawa shōgun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi and is a typical example of a garden from the Edo period. After the death of Yanagisawa it was neglected. The founder of Mitsubishi, Iwasaki Yatarō bought the garden in 1878 and restored it.
In 1938, it was donated to the Tokyo City government. It was specified as a special place of scenic beauty (特別名勝 tokubetsu meishō) by the Japanese government in 1953.

As I walk out into the streets, I see the man dressed in red and black. Noble. Brave. But not responsible. No... He hasn't earned that yet. Peter Parker learned those principles early. This man just stops the crime, under any circumstance. Not thinking what will happen.
Something unexpected happened though. A strange alien jumped out of a window. A.... a demon. I feel the heat from under the fake skin that is shown on the outside. It burns like paper, and floats away in the wind. My eyes fall out, and all that's left is the devil's crony. I walk to the thing, and see the man follow after me.
He looks at me, confused, and then looks at the creature again. An interesting mind.
I grab the creature, and drain the liquid organism from his blood. I feel it in me. It's rage. It's feelings.
I quickly burn it in my body. I hear it scream. It pleasures me.
The man in red and black just stares as I do this. The man the creature possessed looked dazed. I raise my hand, and fire surrounds him. He is quickly transported to Hell. The "hero" looks me in the eyes, and leaps at me. I only grab his throat and throw him to the ground. I easily send him to Hell. He's done many unjust things.
I follow them down to the underworld, and find the hero. He tries reasoning with me, saying he's not supposed to be here. Then he argues.
"Who do you think you are?" he asks.
"That's a good question."
It's 1968. One year after the Rider was born. I walk the streets of Washington, waiting for the King to arise. It's April 3rd and the streets are crowded. I walk into Mason Temple, and see the King himself. He's getting ready.
"Thank you very kindly my friends..."
I sit down in one of the booths. I sign with the father, the son, and the holy spirit.
"Something is happening in Memphis..."
A woman sits next to me, and after signing, kneels. She is elderly, in her 80's. She will never see the day where whites and blacks become equal.
"I would see Plato, Aristotle, Socrates...."
She begins to cry. I only stare with blank eyes. Emotion does not come easily to me. She stands up, possibly hoping to see the King himself.
"The Nation is sick."
She walks out of the booth, and through the front door. I sign, and follow, to hear the words, "We want to be free."
Once outside I see her on the steps. She's ready. She's seen death in the face. But so has the King. That's why I'm here. The King was to fall. But this woman.... she was not destined to. Yet, here she was on the steps.
She leans forward, allowing herself to be beat up by the grueling stairs. Men and women rush around me, to see the woman at the edge of the steps. She never touched the ground.
The King comes out of the church, as he is finished with his speech. He sees the woman on the steps, and closes his eyes. He mumbles words, and walks on. He brushes my shoulder, and stops to say his word. I agree it was an accident, and I wish him good fortune. This will not come.
April 4th, 1968 Martin Luther King was assassinated. I was there to show him the steps to heaven.
The speech had gotten to me. "We all want to be free." I wanted freedom. Yet, for years, decades, centuries, I was trapped. While in Mason Temple, I felt free. Free, and with people around me who felt the same. I couldn't even remember my name then. It had been to long, without using it. Who am i?
The hero mumbles more words at me. I just do as I am told, and tell him his destiny. He looks as if he has seen a ghost, and turns to wipe a tear.
I transport him to the world from where he came from, and watch him walk off.
I decided to do the same. Walk away, that is. Discover who I am. Who I was. I started my course, and walked down the steps.

Ye, as you can tell there is a lot of symbolism and themes in here. This is more of my "literature" stories I guess. Oh well.

I spent a delightful Saturday with the Famous Flickr Five+ Group in the Yarra Valley, where we visited the picturesque Alowyn Gardens, which I had never heard of before, before having luncheon at the Yarrawood Winery.
The Alowyn Gardens are just outside Yarra Glen, east of Melbourne, in wine making country. The Alowyn Gardens started as weed and blackberry infested paddocks that were formerly part of a horse stud. The land was cleared in 1997 before revitalisation of the soil was conducted. Two years later in 1999 the first tree was planted. Today the Alowyn Gardens are well established, and provide an informative and educational experience for visitors. It has been designed with shade and comfort in mind. Plant names are on view to educate visitors about the gardens. The gardens have one of the largest Japanese Wisteria arbours as their centrepiece. Off it visitors may wander through seven very different styles of gardens, from the formal to the informal, European to Australian. The Native Garden is based on Australian plantings and features a dam and wetland area for animals, including a profusion of frogs and a great deal of birdlife. The Display Garden is a collection of courtyards and small gardens featuring collections of interesting plantings. The idea of the Display garden is to demonstrate what can be achieved in small spaces. The Edible Garden as the name suggests, shows that kitchen gardens can be beautiful as well as functional with rows of fruit trees, vegetable and medicinal gardens and a number of edible flowers that are both tasty and beautiful. The Birch and Casuarina Forest offers a woodland with enchanting hidden dells and contains a historical miner's hut. The Perennial Border contains herbaceous plants which are tough and hardy, survive with minimal work and are able to cope with Australia's hot summers and cold Yarra Valley winters. The Parterre Garden is based on the 15th Century French Renaissance design principles of low formal hedges formed into patterns. The French Provincial Garden is the largest of all the gardens and is surrounded by avenues of Chinese Elm, Crab Apple and Canadian Maple trees. It has large lawns, and a long water feature that runs the width of the garden.

Via its simple principle of a fourth expanding dimension, LTD Theory provides a unifying, foundational *physical* model underlying relativity, quantum mechanics, time and all its arrows and asymmetries, and the second law of thermodynamics. Palos Verdes, CA
Point Vicente Lighthouse was built in 1926 on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The light source was dimmed during World War II to avoid aiding the enemy. It was automated in 1971 by the United States Coast Guard. The original third-order Fresnel lens still revolves in the lantern room. In 2015, the Coast Guard announced its intention to install an LED light with a 14 nm range, replacing the current light and lens.
The Point Vicente Lighthouse is just north of the entrances to the Los Angeles/Long Beach Harbors. It was operated and maintained by the United States Lighthouse Service prior to that Service being merged with the U.S. Coast Guard, which was delegated all aid-to-navigation responsibilities in 1939. The lighthouse was manned until 1971 when it was automated by a remote electronic aids-to-navigation monitoring system.
The white cylindrical tower is 67 feet (20 m) tall, and the masonry structure is built on the edge of a 130-foot (40 m) cliff. This places the center of the lantern 185 feet (56 m) above the ocean, and because of this elevation, the 1.1 million candlepower-beam has a nominal (clear weather) visible range of 24 nautical miles (44 km; 28 mi). The Coast Guard Light List specifies its light characteristic as being a pair of two white flashes, repeating that pair every 20 seconds. An emergency light of reduced intensity operates if the main light is extinguished. The most striking feature in the lighthouse is the classical third-order rotating Fresnel Lens located in the lantern. This particular lens was manufactured around 1910 in Paris, France, by Barbier, Bernard and Turenne, the oldest lens making company in the world. This lens is made up of hand-ground prisms held in place by a cast brass frame. The prisms and frame represent an excellent example of the precision achieved by optical scientists and the lens making art in utilizing the known principles and properties of light.
This lighthouse also incorporates a pleasant-sounding foghorn to audibly warn ships during times of low visibility which are common to the area.
Another from a couple of days ago wearing my dress, it is so lovely to wear and fits perfectly, I’m wearing my MJ shoes with heels with black tights. I hope to get out again soon for a walk, today was spoilt by the pesky heavy rain!

Wikipedia Reports: Bodie (/ˈboʊdiː/ BOH-dee) is a ghost town in the Bodie Hills east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Mono County, California, United States, about 75 miles (121 km) southeast of Lake Tahoe. It became a boom town in 1876 and following years, after the discovery of a profitable line of gold, and suddenly attracted several thousand residents. It is located 12 mi (19 km) east-southeast of Bridgeport,[5] at an elevation of 8379 feet (2554 m).[1] The U.S. Department of the Interior recognizes the designated Bodie Historic District as a National Historic Landmark.

I did manage to get time to dress today, wearing my Principles dress and hoped to go out for a walk but with rain threatening and a old wind I decided against it. This dress is figure hugging and lovely to wear, perhaps I’ll have a walk in it tomorrow.

I actually managed to find time to be Jane again today, the first time this year. I’m wearing a Principles dress with a black cardigan and Mary Janes. My daughter and her husband are on the mend now after contracting Covid, it’s lovely to hear her laughing again.

De Realiteit, Almere, The Netherlands
On the south bank of the lake Noorderplassen in Almere is situated the experimental housing community De Realiteit (The Reality). Seventeen prize winning designs of the second design competition of the foundation "The Fantasy" were built here in 1986. A year earlier "De Fantasie" organized a design contest entitled "Temporary Housing". The prizes consisted of plots building land of 20 x 20 m, where the winners, 17 in total, could achieve their winning ideas. This contest followed the competition “Ongewoon Wonen” (Unusual Living) of 1982 and was realized at the lake Weerwater in Almere City.
By their design, the contests offered opportunity for the most free designs, especially as the building rules did not have to be met. Concepts as demountable, displaceable and limited lifespan were central. The removal of the building rules meant that the honored buildings had to be considered temporary. The applicants knew in advance that the normal funding source, namely the mortgage, was not available due to the temporary carcass. Traditional design principles, necessary to ensure sufficient market value, did not therefore have to be a point of departure in designing. This required the imposition of other than normal funding sources, such as subsidization, corporate sponsorship.
The jury consisted of: Pi de Bruyn, architect; All Hosper, landscape architect; Jon Kristinson, architect and construction engineer; Bruno Ninaber van Eyben, industrial designer; Jeanne Roos, journalist; Luce van Rooij, gallery owner and Moshé Zwarts, architect and chairman of the jury. They assessed the submissions according to the criteria: resourcefulness, feasibility, construction, material use, design, housing and energy management. The winners of the competition were given land on the site by the Government service IJsselmeerpolders, in cooperation with the municipality of Almere.

The Epic Seascape! Malibu Sea Caves!
Landscape photography is not only about traveling through space, but it is also about traveling through time. One may return to the same beach time and again throughout the seasons to find a million different universes, changing in an infinitude of manners with each passing wave.
Not only do we voyage outwardly to get the shot, but we travel even further inwardly. While I spend my year trekking along the John Muir Trail, and on through Zion, Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, and the Colorado Plateau, my heart always finds its home in these Malibu sea caves, where I have stood in awe during all hours of the day and night.
Included within are a few shots that only I have so far captured, including a miraculous winter solstice sunrise.

A sundial is a device that measures time by the position of the Sun. In common designs such as the horizontal sundial, the sun casts a shadow from its style (a thin rod or a sharp, straight edge) onto a flat surface marked with lines indicating the hours of the day. As the sun moves across the sky, the shadow-edge progressively aligns with different hour-lines on the plate. Such designs rely on the style being aligned with the axis of the Earth's rotation. Hence, if such a sundial is to tell the correct time, the style must point towards true North (not the north or south magnetic pole) and the style's angle with horizontal must equal the sundial's geographical latitude. However, many sundials do not fit this description, and operate on different principles.

A little trip I did last week to Burton Mill Pond, the dress is a Principles one and a lovely midi length. The pond is part of a pair which were originally hammer ponds, providing a watercourse for power in the ancient iron working times. It is now used to provide power for a flour mill which is used from time to time for demonstrations (i.e. not a working mill)

i have to say that Immigration is too intricate an issue to discuss on FLICKR.
I can say that America needs to rewrite its constitution, because many of its principles, its laws, its philosophies, its principles are too outdated and no longer make sense in our modern world!
Its loose border IMHO will be the beginning of a huge battle in its congressional halls. My grandparents came here legally,
paid taxes, worked hard, learned the language, escaped the COSSACKS who were killing JEWS on sight.
Today you can walk across the border and stay?

The Climatron® is the first geodesic dome to be used as a conservatory, incorporating the principles of R. Buckminster Fuller, inventor of the geodesic system. It opened to the public on October 1, 1960. The design of the Climatron greenhouse was developed by St. Louis architects Murphy and Mackey, winning the 1961 Reynolds Award, an award for architectural excellence in a structure using aluminum. In 1976 it was named one of the 100 most significant architectural achievements in United States history. The term “Climatron” was coined to emphasize the climate-control technology of the greenhouse dome.
The Climatron has no interior support and no columns from floor to ceiling, allowing more light and space per square foot for plants than conventional designs. It rises 70 feet in the center, spans 175 feet in diameter at the base, has 1.3 million cubic feet, and encloses approximately 24,000 square feet (more than half an acre).
The interior of the Climatron is designed on a tropical rain forest theme, highlighting their diversity and ecology. Visitors enter and immediately experience the tropics: dense green foliage, a small native hut, sparkling waterfalls, rocky cliffs, a river aquarium with exotic fish, and a bridge from which the forest canopy and associated plants can be viewed.
More than 2,800 plants, including 1,400 different tropical species, grow inside the Climatron. They include banana, cacao, coffee, many wild-collected plants, orchids, and exotic, rare plants such as the double coconut, which produces the largest seed in the plant kingdom. The lush, green tropical rainforest environment is maintained by a computerized climate control system. Inside temperature ranges from 64°F (18° C) at night to a high of 85°F (29° C) during the day. The average humidity is 85 percent. Plants are watered with reverse osmosis purified, tempered water.
The greenhouse was closed for extensive renovations in 1988. It re-opened in March 1990 with many new features, including new panes of glass and a re-landscaped interior. The old, deteriorated Plexiglas panes were replaced with 2,425 panes of heat-strengthened glass, containing a Saflex plastic interlayer manufactured by Monsanto Company. The inner surface of this glass-and-plastic sandwich is coated with a low-emissivity film. This coating helps reduce heating costs by retaining the solar energy collected during the day for use at night. The new support system for the glazing is rigid and has integral gutters to carry condensation.
A ground-level entrance and energy-conserving automatic doors make the entire Climatron accessible to disabled visitors. The Shoenberg Temperate House hugs the north side of the building.
My personal tribute to Braveheart (1995)
Yes, with the permission of other masterpieces, this is my favorite movie ever. After so many viewings and so many years, the emotions and the purity remain intact. Mel Gibson directed and acted in the movie of his career, portraying the legendary Scottish warrior William Wallace. A 3-hour epic tale with a superb screenplay, terrific performances, cinematography and editing. I love it in the same way even if it's 100% inaccurate. It revived the epic genre that gave us such good movies during the following years. Special mention to James Horner's soundtrack, probably the most beautiful I've ever heard. Definitely, a must watch movie if you haven't seen it yet.
I'm a huge fan of Gibson's movies, he's my favorite director in fact, and how he expresses his passion and personality on them. All his protagonists have a common denominator, inspiring men with principles in a world without them. A gifted, emotional and visceral director whose ability to balance the violent with the beautiful is outstanding. His movies are brutal in the packaging but precious in the content: The last glance of William Wallace to his wife before receiving the coup de grace, the flashbacks in The Passion of Christ, the birth underwater in Apocalypto, the rescue scene in Hacksaw Ridge... Gorgeous moments that give meaning to this cruel and heartless world.
