There are three principles to exposure. They are, ISO, shutter speed, and aperture.
ISO changes how sensitive to light your camera is. It is usually measured in hundreds (100, 400, 800, etc). The lower the number, the less sensitive to light the camera is. For example, you would use a high ISO when you wanted to take a picture when it is dark.
Next, shutter speed is the amount of time your shutter is open. It is measured in seconds, or fractions of seconds. The bigger the denominator, the faster the speed. You would use a slow speed if you have dark lighting and are able to use a tripod to keep your camera stable while your shutter is open. If you don’t keep the camera still, then your picture will be blurry. A fast shutter speed will freeze a picture in time when there is a lot of movement.
Lastly, there is aperture. This controls how much light is let into the camera. You can close the lens to limit the amount of light or open it wider to let in more light. It is measured in
“F” so, the higher the f, the smaller the opening and the less light that gets in. Also, a small “F” value means a small depth of field. This means that the part of your picture in focus will be small and have a very blurry background. So, a bigger “F” value means larger depth of field. You would use this if you wanted your whole picture to be in focus like a landscape.
i picked this picture to represent contrast because the colors in the picture contrast eachother very much. the bright gold of the building and the dark navy of the sky, are very different, and therefore represent contrast.
