Bit lame I know, but I’m going out for diner tonight. And I took this pic with my new Panasonic LX3 pocketcamera. Still trying to get used to the point&shoot way of thinking and shooting through the viewscreen, but it’s a nice little camera.
and if you want to see Pixel playing fiercly here is a video
July 2007 seems like a long time ago...we were in Baltimore over July 4th and on through the weekend. We told ourselves we were taking a vacation, but really the purpose of our trip was to consult with doctors at John Hopkins. My husband was diagnosed with AN, acoustic neuroma or vestibular neuroma, on the 8th cranial nerve. The tumor (benign) was growing and would soon be exerting pressure on his brain stem. Not good. There had been a surgery to remove the tumor 20 years prior to it showing up again. The original location was near the ear drum and it is a common side effect to lose balance and hearing. The surgeon here, wanted to cut into my sweetie's head again...I was freaked out and discovered tons of information accessible online about AN, treatment options, side effects of the various "cures", and especially the risks involved with a surgery in that location. After the 1st surgery, he had about 6 weeks of recovery time, a 3 inch long scar above his hear, and loss of hearing in the ear closest to the tumor. There was no longer any of the nerve near the ear, only near the brain stem, which was the location of the regrowth.
After consultations with neurosurgeons at IU Med Center and John Hopkins, he opted to have a Gamma Knife treatment. He was back to work in 2 days, and felt as if he could have gone back the day after the procedure.
It has been 2 years now and today (since it is past midnight) will be another MRI to see if there has been any more growth. It stopped growing after the treatment, and the 3 MRI's before todays have shown no growth.
I am praying, wishing, and hoping that this MRI is the same as those.
We did manage to enjoy the sites, and the wonderful food during our stay in one of our nations oldest cities.

Threw a roll of long expired Vericolor II type S in a point and shoot camera on a summer trip to disneyland. Since the film was non DX coded the Canon sure shot read exposed it at ISO 25 which turned out pretty well for a 30 year old film. developed at home in the Unicolor kit from Freestyle

My daughter's birthday is coming up and she wanted a camera that takes good photos. All she has is her cell-phone so I bought her a used Olympus XZ-1 in great shape. I even added a Flip-Bac grip for the front and a self closing lens cap.
I do have to admit that I seriously considered not giving it to her once I got it and started playing with it. It's a very nice advanced compact camera! She'll be happy...and I'll be searching for another for myself.

I have learned that I need to look for more clues about what a certain plant/tree is when I photograph it.
I took these shots in 2012, on April Fools Day, but did not get any good shots of the bark or other possible identification aspects.
I am between Box Elder or Sugar Maple, according to a post and discussion between Flickr friend Deborah Platt (TrekOhio.com) and another Flicker member, Tatters*, who runs a flower identification group. Link below ...
This is a little Continental 110 pocket camera like one I used to have back in the mid-1980s. I picked this one up for just a couple bucks recently.
One on the best built (if not the best) 110 film camera with a fast f/2.0 26mm lens.
110 Film is not being sold any more, but expired film is quite easy to come by on ebay, so shooting with it is still possible.
I had a 110ED before that i sold, and now i have it again.
I bought this one on ebay from someone in austria.
It takes a 4LR44/PX28 battery for power.
Camera for 110 film, made in Hong Kong. Can be pushed together to make it easier to fit in a pocket.
I absolutely love exploring along this creek, which has fascinated me since I was young. I've always loved water. I love to look at it, be around it and swim/wade in it. I've never swam in this particular creek though. I usually stick to pools.
The view has changed some in the name of progress. Some of the trees across the water have been cleared away for a new business moving into town. I do not know what that business is yet. They are still doing dirt work.

This was an unplanned spontaneous shoot. I saw the train lights at a distance after we crossed the tracks on the way to Ash Wednesday church service. After parking the car, I decided to wait a moment and snap the train as it was going through. I was surprised to see these engines instead of the usual black Norfolk Southern engines that run on this track. I had to come home and look up what CN stood for - Canadian National Railway Company.
You can read a little about it below if you'd like, or click this link to see the whole Wikipedia article:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_National_Railway
The Canadian National Railway Company (reporting mark CN) is a Canadian Class I railway headquartered in Montreal, Quebec that serves Canada and the Midwestern and Southern United States. CN's slogan is "North America's Railroad". CN is a public company with 22,000 employees and market capitalization of 32 billion CAD in 2011.[1] CN was government-owned, having been a Canadian Crown corporation from its founding to its privatization in 1995. Bill Gates was in 2011 the largest single shareholder of CN stock.[1]
CN is the largest railway in Canada, in terms of both revenue and the physical size of its rail network, and is currently Canada's only transcontinental railway company, spanning Canada from the Atlantic coast in Nova Scotia to the Pacific coast in British Columbia.
Following CN's purchase of Illinois Central (IC) and a number of smaller US railways it also has extensive trackage in the central United States along the Mississippi River valley from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico. Today CN owns about 20,400 route miles (32,831 km) of track[2] in 8 provinces (the only two not served by CN are Newfoundland & Labrador and Prince Edward Island), as well as a 70-mile (113 km) stretch of track into the Northwest Territories to Hay River on the southern shore of Great Slave Lake; it is the northernmost rail line anywhere within the North American Rail Network, as far north as Anchorage, Alaska (although the Alaska Railroad goes further north than this, it is isolated from the rest of the rail network). The railway was referred to as the Canadian National Railways (CNR) between 1918 and 1960 and as Canadian National/Canadien National (CN) from 1960 to present.
This is my newest 110 camera, a Kodak Ektralite 10, in color! The other one I have is all black, but this one has black and color. Just which color, I'm not sure, but it's got color all right.

This is a recent acquisition. It is now my daily "pocket" camera. I haven't had time to scan the first three rolls taken but before I do I wanted to have some "product" type shots of the camera itself. Based on the paper prints it seems capable of some very nice shots. It is aperture priority and has a fast f2.8 lens. Focus is by scale, no rangefinder or other focus aids.
