I met this lovely blue tit at Monrepos yesterday morning. They are usually very shy but it seems that I ran into the one blue tit who enjoys a chat with humans. It was a lovely sunny day again, probably the last for a while, and I was glad that I was able to spend some time with the birds and squirrels at Monrepos again.
Young great horned owlet peeking out from a manufactured nest. We had heard there were two owlets but only one was partially visible. Even such a big baby is dwarfed by the enormous home oak tree!
No, this one is not on the menu. I was peeking him behind the bush when I suddenly emerged. It immediately took off. Lucky enough I was able to snap this shot without even composing it. In post, I had to lift the shadows to see the details on the duck body as it was underexposed.
Made a visit to one of my favorite places on Saturday, Panther Falls, such a beautiful and powerful scene that is hidden just off the road. The water and mist are really gushing and creates a powerful sound that only nature can produce!
Happy Valentines and I hope everyone has a great week!
My beloved Samoyed Bear.He passed on
this past January. He was such a sweet, gentle
soul. His best friend was Suki the cat,
they were always together.Suki was so
depressed for months after he passed, they
were so close. She has just recently started
to warm up to Sammy our Sheltie pup ,who
was named for Bear.He was such a kind dog
who loved his kitties. He was, and still is the
dog on Yip Yap breath mints for dogs.
My father, who is a commercial photographer
in Rochester NY, took and sold his picture
to use on the tin. He was about a year old
back then.I see him on the counter at the
pet stores when I go there. He is greatly
missed by us all.

Curious ground squirrel that kept popping up while I was looking for hawks. Not necessarily a wise thing to do.
I see you through the hay stack

The kittens have already found the ventilation hole below our oven. Good job we weren't having pizza that evening.
Technical details: the only way to get a decent photo with the light available down there was using ISO1600 and an old f/1.8 50mm manual focus lens!
