This is for Our Daily Challenge Group

While walking around I spotted this little creature up against the wall, as if saying to everyone sitting outside: "Peek-a-boo! "

I've said it before this frog makes me smile. Did you see her eyelashes?

Peek-a-boo! Marvelous Marley is quite the sneak! Here she is spying on my former room mate Josh, by sneaking a peak under the bedroom door. Josh snapped this incriminating photo and will be turning it over to the prosecutor shortly (this is one of the very few photos in my stream that was not taken by me). Marley has absolutely no respect for privacy.

Today's sunset was really lovely. It reminded me of a quote by Matt Cameron about the NSW Premier's Drama Award: ‘ A disheartening day for Australian playwrights with not one play deemed worthy of this year’s award. I hasten to add this is not about my own work but the bigger picture. Prizes in the arts always risk being akin to comparing sunsets – that is, somewhat impossible. And yet they do remind us of the value of celebrating at least one sunset a year. I thought I saw some rather glorious ones...’

Peek & Cloppenburg Flagship Store, Vienna, Austria

The new Peek & Cloppenburg flagship store will be located on Kärtner Strasse, between

Johannesgasse and Himmelpfortgasse, in Vienna’s historic centre, a district protected as a

UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The starting point for the design was the idea of a “building with windows” – a modern, abstract

interpretation of a classical building typology, which is not freestanding but part of the overriding

structure of the urban area. The building will assert itself as tectonically powerful, and

demonstrate a long-lasting and institutional character through the selection of its materials and

proportions, whilst remaining modest and above all becoming an integral part of the street

façade. The defining material for the façade is a light-coloured, finely pointed Danube Limestone

(Donaukalk) – a typical Viennese building material. The façade will be solidly built, corresponding

in its materiality and craftsmanship with the historic context.

The new building volume will close the urban block as a continuation of the neighbouring

buildings. In its rational structure the design ties in strongly with the tradition of late Viennese

department stores. The façade will subtly react to the structure of the neighbouring buildings.

The window proportions and the ratio between closed wall and openings will reflect the historic

neighbouring buildings. The otherwise recessed glass layer will be brought forward on the ground

floor, transforming the wall openings into display windows at street level. On the fourth floor, the

façade will open up to the city through a loggia.

The six sales levels will be accessed from the main entrance on Kärtner Strasse via a central

atrium, flooded by daylight. A translucent glass and bronze structure crowns the atrium in the

tradition of the large department stores of the 19

th

century, acting as a counterpoint to the sales

areas with its textile stock.

An extremely small tunnel leads to this small opening in the fort's wall. It allowed a single soldier to see and obviously shoot any enemy sailors that landed on the beach.

Few things are as adorable as little bear cubs. There were 3 of them and they were about 6 months old. This little fellow looked like he was playing peek-a-boo with the photographer ;-)

You can just barely make out it's eye peeking around the petal. It was so hot Saturday, even the bees, butterflies and dragonflies were hiding in the shade.

Sometimes I have sessions that I'm not overly happy with. Then, whilst sitting in a Starbucks considering whether I might not have what it takes and fiddling in Lightroom, I really see this image for what it is. Beauty. Connection. The love of a mother and daughter. And it makes me smile, and want to tell my mum that I love her.
