Shy male Pyrrhuloxia pausing for a moment.

BTW: It has no common name of which I'm aware. Also, no matter how I attempt to pronounce the name, I get it wrong.

Common and abundant.

Last of the days colors as the moon peeks over the mountains. Thanks for looking and may your weekend be good.

They may be an invasive species, but these phragmites sure do look pretty as the rising morning sun peaks through them. Unfortunately, even though they look beautiful, phragmites dominate the landscape around southern Ontario, as they choke out other native plant species.

Think I might have used Peek a Boo before but it does seem appropriate for this shot that was of course taken at the BWC.

i was driving on a dirty road looking for birds when i saw a shape at my right.

i'm used to find owls that are very mimetic and cannot be search easily with a sight.

the best thing to do with all the wild animals is to be used to their shape.

so i stopped the car and i came back...nothing there...but i decided to wait a bit and after a minute ...

peekaboo!!! a curious spotted eagle owl (bubo africanus) rose from behind some rocks.

i really love these birds!!
