One of 25 species of chipmunk, the Eastern Chipmunk (Tamias striatus) has a lot to chirp about. Certainly, a walk in eastern woodlands will often allow one to hear a veritable chorus of these vocal ground squirrels. Their chirps and high-pitched grumbles might be mistaken for strange bird calls, but chipmunks communicate with their neighbors continually. It is summertime, after all, and the nuts upon which they will rely come winter are beginning to grow. Before we know it, ice will again slip through the woodland with its sedating touch, and the eastern chipmunk will go into hibernation within its bunker of caverns. Unlike others, it will not sleep throughout the winter, surviving on stores of fat--it will wake periodically and dine upon the nuts its cached in the fall!

I accidentally deleted this one, when I wanted to put it in my 300+ set and wanted to remove it from the 200+ set. Never too old to learn, I guess.
What looked like a picture perfect run across the Jeff on M1 turned into IG4SI having to cross over for an eastbound that was already on M1 which resulted in the train running on M2 and basically making all the shots I had in mind junk due to how late in the day it was starting to get. Here 1989 is running on M2 past the MoPac Kirkwood depot and peeks through the window of sun just before heading under Clay Ave.

These wee ones have no clue that their world is about to turn upside down. While we don't have anything definitive yet, we have many iniquiries. We are optimistic this crew will find homes as pairs. Exciting!
No interest in their wonderfully loving momma yet.
