Our newspaper had a cover story about people not quite being able to park against the curb. For those people who never quite learned, they decided to include direction on how to do it. I come from a state that has it as a required part of the driver's exam.

About two inches to spare here...

With some finesse, you can plop this thing into a 16 foot space, but really you’re going to need at least a 20 foot spot, especially if you don’t have the rearview camera.

I hope nothing stomach-turningly awful has ever happened in the building, but with so many people moving through over so many decades, I suppose it's unrealistic to hope that.

My heart is warmed in a uniquely individual way by each of the individual "Celebrate Racine" lamppost banners hung on lampposts all around downtown: The pleasure of seeing one "Celebrate Racine" banner is special unto itself, and is distinct from the pleasure of seeing any other "Celebrate Racine" banner on any other lamppost.

"Before" pictures of an area that will receive widened sidewalks (widening into the parking lane) as part of DDOT's upcoming first phase U Street Reconstruction.

Even when you align the camera perfectly parallel to the object behind you, the camera deceives you into thinking you are closer to the behind object than actual reality: there’s usually 5 to 6 inches more room than what the camera shows on the screen.

My Buddy Noel took this shot last December with his awesome point and shoot, Panasonic LX3.

I thought this parking job, just across from Kerry Park in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle, was absolutely awesome. Brazen, ignorant and atrocious at the same time.

On gameday, the streets around the university are filled with parked cars of football fans.

Imagine it is 1952 and you are so wound up you are irrepressibly prancing, excited to see the latest: a 16-story banktower of brownish orange bricks, with dozens of greenstone spandrels.

From 2002 to circa 2021 this was called the "Oncor Building" in honor of an electric company, but I chose to call it the "On-Cor Building" in honor of the U.S.-based brand of discount frozen foods. On-Cor sells big microwaveable multi-serve trays of chicken parmagiana patties, salisbury steak patties, things like that.

The surface materials are "rust-toned Denton brick" and "Virginia greenstone."

we went to folklife and i was so impressed with my parallel parking. it was perfectly executed and enabled us to be hecka close to seattle center.

A tune you should hum while you look at the building is "Over the Waves," which is from 1888, the same year the building was built.
