The first time in a little while that I successfully completed a parallel park on the first try without hitting the curb.

Sad, but true. My strength used to be the Parallel Park years ago when I used to drive more frequently. But after not having driven in 5 years or so, it turns out that my Major has become my Minor.

I fucked it up on the road test. I fuck it up all the time. By "fucked it up", I don't mean really fucking it up, but I'm a perfectionist and take great pride in what I do. So nailing this on the first try made me happy. And since I had nobody with me to share my elation... that's where you come in.

That's not snow on the ground, it's solid ice.

Driving a car in Berkeley demands that I get pretty good at parallel parking. This morning, I was particularly proud of my parking.

On the morning of 13 December 2006, with parking scarce due to demolition, I spotted this space in front of my office and fought off two other cars to get it...

Demolition of an obsolete 1960's-era office building at Apollo and East Third Avenue, in the Short North District of Columbus Ohio.

For shorter drivers, Chevrolet has included two settings on the powered rear liftgate that make reaching the close button easier.

Half of the time we drove the car with the “Eco” button on. The Eco mode alters the shift patterns in the four-cylinder powertrain; GM told us that this improves gas mileage by about 1 mpg. We didn’t notice any change in drivetrain feel or in real-world gas mileage.

I got wayyy too excited about this parallel parking job I pulled off the other day with Natalie's car in Oakland and took a picture of it. This is how amazing my life has become.

In downtown New London, Connecticut, on September 21st, 2021, 133 Green St, a/k/a 28 Pearl St, a "contributing property" in the Downtown New London Historic District, 79002665 and 88000070 on the National Register of Historic Places, at the intersection of Pearl Street and Green Street. Per Sanborn fire insurance maps, the building appears to have been built no later than 1884. One or two stories may have been added later? Starting sometime in the 1890s it apparently housed the offices of the New London Daily Globe.

I see a lot of bad park jobs but this one stood out so much I had to take a photo of it. The car was an easy two and a half to three feet from the curb. I'm not even sure the person actually "pulled over".

There was probably only about one foot of space total in front and back of my car. Seriously, I'm still pretty psyched about this.
