Nearly every item I'll be bringing along on my three month trip though Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. It all fits (minus the shoes, which go on my feet) in that blue pack. Ambitions to itemize this image (and to post expanded views of the first aid and toiletry kits) have been thwarted for now by my desire to get some sleep before tomorrow morning's flight to Guatemala City.
Packing for three weeks is hard enough. Packing for three weeks, three different climates *and* a wedding is torture for me. I managed to do it, however, with the help of Waitrose ziploc bags and a lot of cursing.
Moved out of my tokyo apartment today. My whole life these past two months basically fits into this suitcase, this box, and my backpack
I'm moving back to London next week! Ack! Packing is slowly happening, and I found this in the process. I wore this exact outfit to my college graduation (at crazy hippie schools, we don't need no stinkin' cap and gown) and gave a speech.

After a photoshoot along one of the corridors of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, I pack up my equipment (which has become such a good friend to me during this trip).

What I packed for Thailand. Some of the clothes would have been on me. Below all of it is my sarong.
In a few days we'll be living in a new house. The new excites me, but I'm a sentimental man and leaving all these memories is hard for me.
Although it seems to defy the laws of physics, all of this was inside the kayak a minute ago.....half of it through that little hole in the bow. I've been packing my kayak for years, so I know right where everything goes, but this time, I had to leave a few things out to make room for two SLRs and a tripod. Since my Everglades trip will be in the salt water, I also need 5 gallons of fresh water.....what a pain.

How nice the light played in these Burma housing,
Tamil houses are mostly very dark inside,
but it revealed also the reality.
The whole family business was built around the daughter,
packing the appalam (Tamil:Pappadam),
her legs were handicapped, told mother,
and sudden a sinking feeling came over me of
peeking behind the curtains to see real life.

I fly out TOMORROW! I still can't believe it! Orlando to London, a day layover in London to putz around (on Valentines Day, without my valentine!), then on to Delhi. Will be in Delhi for a month, then a 4 day stop in London, then back home to Tampa. Whew!
I figured it's a good record of my life for the past few days (err.. weeks). I've put "notes" all over the photo - hover your mouse over them to read my notes. I'm taking one backpack, and one camera/messenger bag. While this feels "heavy" compared to my hard-core pack-light approach to Thailand, I still think it's pretty minimalist.
PS: As you can see, I'm a HUGE fan of compartmentalizing. "Everything goes in a ziplock or container". I hate opening my backpack & seeing a jumble of stuff. Even the toiletry bag has everything divided into ziplock bags by type.
