ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti preparing the SpaceX Dragon cargo capsule for a return to Earth. She shared these images to her social media on 17 August 2022 with the following caption:

Have we got everything? We spent countless hours packing return bags even before our cargo #Dragon arrived, & now it’s almost fully loaded! Including a lot of powered lockers (in the pic)… fridges, freezers, animal habitats.

Finally Packing for Urban Sketchers Symposium, Barcelona! Here's my sketch kit. It was hard, but I left one pan empty in my travel kit. Who knows, I just might discover a new color I just cannot live without... after all, I never did use Payne's grey until I saw so many Urban sketchers use it so beautifully. Now it's almost the first color that makes it into my palette.

these elite soldiers have been heavily upgraded into cyborgs or even fully operating war machines that are perfectly capable of packing around heavy armor and weapons, out lasting human troops with amplified strength of one hundred men and can last for days, their armor is forged from the strongest metal in the galaxy, the Empire has exclusive access to this rare and indestructible material and so far has has used it on everything in its Army. the Empire mostly focuses too much on super weapons & vehicles, yet some rather have powerful units to fight battles on the ground.

Mini movie rant:

If you're gonna rehash the battle of hoth on crait and the death star again fir the third time, because Disney clearly has no idea what they are fucking doing. Do it right. The portable death star laser cannon, that somehow didn't kill Finn and rose who were running straight into the damn beam, the new AT-At and Kylos shuttle was MAJORLY OVER KILL, the rebels had no fighting chance, the vehicles they had were junk that wasnt made for battle nor for the AT-AT's that the Snowspeeders were equipped for and could fly. anyways the Empire easily over powered the rebels because a man child was in charge. If they had tone it down to just super soldiers, that might have been better. Seriously, the empire brought waay too much fire power. All while killing off/throwing away cool & important characters like elite troops, hunters, jedi & more

Packing for family Vacation! Spring 2015

Saw this right beside my grandmother's (nanee) grave. We were visiting the family graveyard to pray for the departed souls. Dual stories of life and death coexisting on the same plane!

Spending the afternoon packing orders.

Ran out of boxes until (hopefully) tomorrow when our new ones get delivered. Run out of bubble wrap too > o <

Clothes are at least almost ready to go!

There are still some left and further reductions were made yesterday. Everything kind of has to go so if you like something please feel free to offer! <3

TED: "Hmmf ... got me work cut out doin' me holibob packin'. Hope it all fits in!"

I know, I know. It's late for last Christmas and way early for the next one. But I love Christmas time, and this artwork just sort of took its own route out of a very drab photo I took a few hours ago. in fact, one I was considering deleting. It began as really dull, a Rainting, but a dull one. After I began working on it, some Lightlings (Santa and the Wooden Soldier) appeared. Of course, they are not real, but Lightlings don't have to be very real. In fact, they never are. I just ascribe characteristics or shape/body features to them at whim. It's fun and it's art.

*********************************************************************

ABOUT RAINTINGS

Rainting is a word I coined describing a painterly effect, achieved by photographing the subject through glass that is being rained on, like a windshield or other. It achieves an oftentimes pretty or soft flowing effect, and sometimes other-worldly. It is usually creative, fun, and fluid, seldom harsh in my opinion. I have an album of them on Flickr. Rainting is already in "The Urban Dictionary" but I would like it to also be in a more sophisticated/educational type of dictionary. I started a public Flickr group of Raintings on New Year's Day 2020.

The more collegiate type of dictionaries say that the word has to actually be used by people before they're likely to publish it. So if you like the word and my idea, say it loud and say it clear and take a few Raintings and post them to my new group. Using my word and trying my new group are not inclusive of one another.

******************************************************************

This particular image has what I call a Faux Rainting effect. It wasn't actually raining; just a spray bottle of water on my truck window. I'll put it in my new Raintings group, but eventually I'll try to label the ones that didn't actually use *real* rain. The majority will be real rain, as that is what I used to take my beginning "Raintings" when hadn't yet thought of a name for what I described above. And that is why I rhymed my word of Rainting with Painting. My State of Oregon USA is known for lots of rain; so I shouldn't have to resort to Faux Rainting too often (grin).

******************************************************************

ABOUT LIGHTLINGS

Lightling is an even newer word I coined to name the odd little sort of anthropomorphic characters that sometimes appear in my images when doing a Rainting. They come in many sizes, shapes and colors and often times have what appear to be various facial expressions. In school we may have learned that a square is a rectangle, but a rectangle is not a square. Well Raintings can exist without Lightlings in the scene, but Lightlings cannot exist without a Rainting.

Enjoying some new postcards for order packing.

Great for dioramas and craft projects, but takes up a lot of space.

Randomized square packing. This is an idea that I've had in my head for awhile, finally worked out to some extent.

This is a concept that I'd like to revisit, with a little more planning before I start folding. (those rows along the bottom and side? sure, of course I intended that.... :-P)

This was inspired to a large extent by the ideas being thrown around during the origami Tessellation Design Challenge 2008

for Glastonbury! Nina and I leave on Wednesday for 5 days of fun, but i'm really behind on packing and making sure i have everything! i have not owned wellies since i was a kid, but have sorted a pair out now based on the fact that it has not stopped raining in the UK for the last week! i'm sure these won't stay in such a clean state for very long!

A street seller catch in Djiahe park (Huangdao District of Qingdao China) when she arrived an start her set up. Her "shop" is quite simple, a table full of small items which are so far still hidden in the big cases on her motorbike. That's China.

Takes longer to pack than to make

It was a big cane with those extra petals shooting out from the center. I like the way it looks. You can see how the petals have each been packed. Thought I would photograph it, so you can see how the trans is packed in.

Lard Packing House: No 61 Barrels/Casks/Flagons: Whiskey?

Whoever wrote the previous line got it wrong, not Whiskey but barrels filled with lard bladders, which of course we now know courtesy of sharon.corbet to pigs bladders which have been dried, inflated, and then filled with lard.

OwenMacC identifies the location as J Mattersons, Bacon Factory, Roches Street, Limerick.

swordscookie aka Sean, tells a nice story of his Family and their involvement with Matterson Company, "Mattersons moved to new premises out in Kileely in the '70's and they commissioned the creation of a plaque for the reception. My father-in-law who was an iron founder made a cast of his own hands which was then placed on the wall. When Mattersons eventually closed my brother in law managed to buy the plaque and now has it in his home! You can see a photo of the cast in the comments below.
