The A List! has settled into a nice niche of wonderful people, clubs, djs, musicians, sim owners, event planners, artists and creators.
But, the best part is that now both Xavi and I have our own resource for the best of the best in Second Life. I just wait to see that orange A List logo pop up and I know it's either going to be an outrageous party, an elegant ballroom affair, live music or a peaceful exploratory evening on a beautiful sim.
Bella Vida has disco night each month. They redecorate the place to reflect the times. It's always fun to pop in on that one.
Dance 4 Life is one of the newer clubs in Second Life. High above the NYC skyline on the rooftop, you can dance your night away in a beautiful, urban setting.
The other night I stopped off at TrueHouse. True to it's name, the house was sweet and fine. I stayed for quite a while... only taking one picture, 'cause the music was so good... I was so chilled.
DJ Benny Klang was at Haad Rin the other night. From Germany, Benny mixed some great tunes for the beach crowd there that night.
Daemon! We always shout when we hit the floor at Derailed on Sub Zero. Along with dj's Ware & Blabbermouth, DJ Daemon Chadeau is one of our favorite noize makers. We always have a great time there.
DJ Tasty was spinning late one night over at Electro Violence. So I hit the tp for a brief break from building. Always a great way to refocus on the build!
WET Builder Robertson sent a tp with a plea that he needed to take a break. Blackhearts club is a favorite for the 80's music lovers. DJ Thalie was spinning and I always love her sets.
Speaking of dj's, I just love DJ Space Grelling. He and Harriet greet everyone with a friendly smile and shout. And his sets are just so fun. I swear I could hang out at alt7 all day long! LOL!
Check out Bay Vista Live Music scene where you might catch Maxmillion Kleene singing his sweet songs with that mesmerizing voice. I stopped off one day, sitting at the table listening.
And finally, for those who need a romantic evening locked in each other's arms, head towards the legendary, Avilion Ballroom.

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort is owned by Ventana Canyon Partnership, headed by William Estes III.
Tucson developer, William (Bill) Estes, Jr.(1938-2009), built Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson. Estes was the founder of Estes Homes and built some 40,000 homes throughout Tucson and Phoenix. Loews operates the hotel under a management contract with Ventana Canyon Partnership. Lowes Ventana Canyon Resort opened in December 1984 following the opening of the 380 room Loews Paradise Valley (more recently a Wyndham and now DoubleTree) at 5401 N Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Loews Ventana Canyon lies in the Sonoran Desert at the base of the Santa Catalina mountains overlooking the city of Tucson. Architects John C. Hill, Jr. (AIA) and William Kenneth Frizzell (AIA) stated in 1985 - “The major organizing element of our design was the natural environment and we wanted the hotel to look like a part of the landscape.”
Their design task: 400 rooms, no more than two above ground stories due to zoning restrictions, and covering the least amount of area as possible to minimize environmental impact while simultaneously highlighting both the city of Tuscon and desert surrounding. Their firm, Frizzell Hill Moorehouse, won the closed competition by utilizing a basement for administration and ancillary functions, which conserved prime space for rooms.
Influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, the design utilizes pleated vertical towers to blend with local cacti as well as a low-rise, earth brown exterior boasting exposed aggregate to reflect indigenous geology. It’s stone architecture blends into the desert mountains.
There are two Tom Fazio-designed golf courses - Loews Ventana Canyon Resort's Mountain course (1987) and Canyon course (1985) - with striking Sonoran Desert backdrops and saguaros. Plenty of wildlife with coveys of quail, red-tailed hawks, bobcats, deer, rabbits, coyotes and roadrunners at an elevation of 3,013 feet.
Architectural Digest called it the “first environmentally-conceived resort in North America.”
Loews Hotels parent company is Loews Corporation which also owns an oil-drilling company, natural-gas pipelines and Chicago-based commercial insurer CNA Financial Corp. CNA Financial Corporation is one of the largest commercial property and casualty insurance organizations in the United States. Loews owned Bulova Watches until 2007. The Tisch brothers gained control of Loew's Theaters in 1960, thus the name but they dropped the apostrophe for their corporate name. Loews Lorillard tobacco division included brand leader Newport cigarettes.
Jonathan Tisch is the chairman of Loews Hotels and co-chairman of Loews Corp. Tisch, 57, is also treasurer of the National Football League’s New York Giants.
Loews Hotels currently owns and/or operates 19 hotels in the U.S. and Canada. Previously Loews operated the Loews Monte Carlo, Loews La Napoule, Loews Le Concorde in Quebec City, Loews L'Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington, D.C. and Loews Anatole.
The parents of Preston and Laurence Tisch bought the Laurel-in-the-Pines Hotel in Lakewood, NJ in 1946. That hotel's success was the springboard for Loews Corp. By 1956, the brothers were in a position to build their first hotel, the Americana in Bal Harbour, Fla., for $17 million in cash.
The Army Chooses a Dive Bomber
German success with dive bombers in Poland and France convinced the U.S. Army to acquire its own dive bombers, and in 1941 the Army Air Corps ordered the Douglas Dauntless, which was already in production for the U.S. Navy. Designated the A-24, it came without the tail hook used for carrier landings, and a pneumatic line replaced the solid tail wheel on some of them. First assigned to the 27th Bombardment Group (Light) at Hunter Field, Ga., A-24s participated in the Louisiana maneuvers during September 1941.
Shipped to the Southwest Pacific
As war with Japan seemed imminent in the fall of 1941, the Army rushed the personnel of the 27th to the Philippine Islands to bolster American defenses, and 52 of their crated A-24s followed on another ship. However, the Japanese attacked before the airplanes arrived, and the A-24s were diverted to Australia for assembly. Most of the 27th's pilots were flown back to Australia to fly the A-24s back to the Philippines, where the enlisted mechanics waited to service them.

The 27th Bombardment Group's A-24s arrived in Brisbane, Australia, in poor condition. Used heavily during the Louisiana maneuvers, many had been crated for shipment with worn out tires in and mud still caked on their wheels. In addition, they lacked the trigger motors and solenoids need to fire the forward guns, and their rear gun mounts broke easily. Australian mechanics machined the necessary solenoids or fixed firing handles for the forward guns, strengthened the rear gun mounts, and replaced worn out tires with truck tires. However, by this time the Japanese had almost conquered the Philippines, where the 27th's enlisted men remained trapped. Put into the 1st Provisional Air Corps Regiment, these men fought the Japanese on the ground, and the survivors were subjected to the Bataan Death March.
Attacking the Japanese in Java
The pilots in Australia separated into the 16th, 17th and 91st Bombardment Squadrons and prepared to defend Java, but only the 91st had aircraft ready to fly there. Departing for Java with just 15 repaired A-24s, they arrived on Feb. 17, 1942, but accidents and need of repairs left only seven aircraft ready for combat. Without fighter protection, the 91st flew heroically against Japan's best aircraft, but their A-24s had worn-out engines, no armor plating, and no self sealing fuel tanks. Referring to themselves as "Blue Rock Clay Pigeons," the 91st attacked the enemy harbor and airbase at Bali and damaged or sunk numerous ships around Java. After the Japanese shot down two A-24s and damaged three so badly they could no longer fly, the 91st received orders to evacuate Java in early March, ending a brief but valiant effort.
Disaster in New Guinea
The A-24s left in Australia were assigned to the 8th Bombardment Squadron, 3rd Bombardment Group, to defend New Guinea against a Japanese attack. On July 26, 1942, seven A-24s attacked a convoy off Buna, but only one survived: the Japanese shot down five of them and damaged the sixth so badly that it did not make it back to base. Regarded by many pilots as too slow, too short-ranged and too poorly armed, the remaining A-24s were relegated to non-combat missions.
In the United States, the A-24s became training aircraft or towed targets for aerial gunnery training. The more powerful A-24B was used later against the Japanese forces in the Gilbert Islands.

The MOC (My Own Creation) is restored by LEGO for the Sungnyemum and Seoul old city wall.
The MOC was created 1/35 ratio to match the LEGO mini-figure size by BrickMaster lego club members(café.daum.net/brickmaster). Two BrickMaster designers(Brian Yu & Bong Jae Kim) took a month to finish the project with help of 20 participants. The designer put great effort on expressing the beautiful curves especially unique roof structure and its outstanding color that was common in traditional Korean architecture. Also the designers used actual pictures of the 1890s, customized the hanbok, Korean traditional cloth and accessories, to add realism for the diorama.
Namdaemun, officially known as the Sungnyemun(literally Gate of Exalted Ceremonies), is one of the Eight Gates in the Fortress Wall of HanYang(currently city of Seoul, The Republic of Korea) which surrounded the city in the Joseon Dynasty. The gate is located in Jung-gu between Seoul Station and Seoul City Plaza, with the historic 24-hour Namdaemun market next to the gate.
Sungnyemum was served as a main gate to the city of Hanyang, which was the capital of Joseon Dynasty(1392-1897). The gate is currently designated as the first national treasure of the republic of Korea. It was first built in the last year of King Taejo of Joseon's reign in 1398, and rebuilt in 1447, during the 29th year of King Sejong the Great of Joseon's reign. It was once one of the three major gateways through Seoul's city walls which had a stone circuit of 18.6 kilometres(11.5 miles) and stood up to 6.1 metres(20 ft) high. Seoul City wall was registered the potential candidate for World Heritage sites in 2012.

If you owned a 3DS, there's a good chance you played a little game called Kid Icarus: Uprising.
One of the first games that painfully, and I do mean PAINFULLY, reminded us that the 3DS really should have had dual analog to begin with, the game was effectively a 3D shooter, with some sections where your character, Pit, would run on the ground.. yeah.. Pit can't really fly without assistance from Palutena, but that's a story for another time.
Pit, along with his emo Frienemy, Dark Pit (or if you're feeling angry, Pitoo) would eventually join forces to battle Medusa, the traditional main baddie of the Kid Icarus series. The pair have gone on to make appearances in subsequent Smash Brothers games... and I don't think much else.
As annoying as the game was to actually play, I finished it and rather enjoyed the experience, though I didn't get into the weapon customizing enough to make a run at it at higher difficulties.
Annnnnyyyway, Nintendo was, up to this point, very, very much in-house merch production and even then, it was only a few series (at least that I ever caught wind of here in Canada) only. Then one day, it's like all caution was thrown to the winds, and several toy producers, including Max Factory, were permitted.
Within the 2012 - 2014 time frame, several Figma were released.I wasn't really paying attention as I was getting prepared for my first child, and as life goes, things pass you by. The good news is that the Other M Varias Suit Samus and Skyward Sword link would see a reissue so I was able to recover from not getting it Round One.
Pit and Dark Pit, however, eluded me for years.. well, not really eluded but I wasn't exactly going to pay those prices.
So over the years, there have been a few ads popping up here and there for the two, but never as a pair or never with the box. It just so happened that while I was in Manitoba, I was able to procure a complete set with almost full box material for $150, missing predominately an insert from the Dark Pit box and for some odd reason, the paper instructions.
Not exactly a super stellar deal, but way cheaper than market value for these.
Pit and Dark Pit are effectively the same figure, with some differences because evil clone and all that jazz. Both sets come with the figure, two expressions (neutral, yelling) converting twin swords (separate/joined), an arrow, several hands including a dedicated arrow drawing hand, some AR Cards (used with the 3DS game) and the typical Figma stand. Pit comes with some Rings of Light effects (two for his right wrist, two for use on the arrow) and a Monoeye (trademark enemy) with its own stand, whereas Dark Pit comes with a staff/rife. Not sure what the difference in price was between the two, but if the same, then clearly Dark Pit got shafted. All weapons and effects can be shared between the two figures easily.. well as easily as one can get those stupid wrist rings to cooperate.
Both figures, unsurprisingly, share the same limitations. Being top heavy, both figures can be hard to balance without using the included stand, and I can imagine it's probably the nice wings that throw things off.
Al the typical Figma 1.0 articulation points are there, which includes ankles, knees, thighs, waist, midtorso, shoulders with some chest compress, elbows, wrist (thankfully with the peg embedded in the body) head swivel/pivot. and the points of articulation on the wings.
Surprisingly, the half skirt REALLY limits leg articulation, with neither leg being able to get anywhere even close to 90 degrees perpendicular with the body.The size of the hands and feet also limit the amount of posing options. Overall, you're not really going to be able get too many dynamic poses out of the pair.
So while the articulation is somewhat of a letdown, the sculpting, paintwork, and overall finish are quite good. Your typical Figma quality is met here to say the least, with I'd say exceptional work on the feather detailing of the wings. It's safe to say that neither Pit nor Dark Pit fit the standard Figma body, so the parts all look to be one of a kind, as it were, including the accurately oversized forearms and lower legs, as well as the proportionally sized head... of course, I suspect this is also Max Factory went ahead and made both Pit and Dark Pit.
Bringing out that extra bit of shine in this figure would be the exceptional paintwork and decal work on both figures. No real paint bleeding to complain about, with some truly great gold highights on the wrists, buckles,shoulder orb, crown, and the various bands on the body. No plastic flash issues to discuss, and assembly on both of mine were, again high quality as one would expect from a Figma release - nothing loose, nothing falling off or at weird angles, and solid joints that will hold their pose.
There is no doubt that these two embody the characters of which they are based off of. It's too bad about the limited articulation, and based on how long it was between the last two Icarus games, I'm betting we're not going to see a new version any time soon. Still, I guess being kind of unique pieces and being very late in the Figma 1.0 game has resulted in a product that, overall, can stand the test of time.
Just.. don't ask them to do any crazy poses.

We own the Uppababy's flagship welded and formed aircraft aluminum alloy frame stroller system called the Vista, 2009 model. We absolutely love it however we've (ok, just I..) have always complained that one wheel is just slightly wobbly whilst others are just ever so slightly lumpy in feel. I don't think anyone other than the highly picky would really have noticed. But, I do, and I care.
When 2010 model was released, they featured improved "smooth rolling 'no-flat' foam and rubber back" wheels. After a few emails and a phone call with Uppababy, they trusted my judgment with pretty much no argument and sent me free 2010 retrofit replacements. That's a value of $90USD+shipping/tax.
These wheels are SO MUCH smoother than the 2009 wheels. They also look much nicer with the 5-spoke black gun-metal style rims (as opposed to the 3 spoke dated silver rims). We feel like we just bought a new stroller.
Aside from the wheels, we ended up purchasing direct from Uppababy the retrofit replacement 2010 seat at wholesale cost (for my troubles with the wheels). That's about 30% discount;-). The new seat is an incredible improvement over the 2009 seat frame. A tonne of subtle changes to the seat which you'd never know until you actually compare side by side.
1. Seat has more more level of adjustment upright which allows Emma to sit a bit more comfortably since she's a tiny little girl.
2. The seat significantly more padded to help Emma sit longer.
3. The top ventilation window/flap has a simple elastic + wedge tie to keep the window open without any hacked up home made rig -- personally think this was a defect in design.
4. The seat back is higher by about 1.5 inches which means the seat will fit taller kids with a bit more head room. (Due to this, any retrofit situation will require purchasing of a new seat cover kit)
5. The seat harness now has three height levels of shoulder adjustment as opposed to two.
6. The seat crotch harness now can adjust as well, as opposed to ZERO adjustment before.
So far that's the main differences we have noticed in the newer seat. So for 2009 buyers of Vista, I truly think these two retrofit upgrades are WELL WORTH the money especially if you can get the wheels for free, as well as get a wholesale price direct from Uppababy. It makes the stroller feel brand new. It does not give you ALL the updates as in the actual 2010 model frame but for very little money, it covers all the upgrades that affect the child.
Uppababy customer service is second to none. Two thumbs up! Thank you !

The Ojibwe, the indigenous Anishinaabe inhabitants of the area, call this area Baawitigong, meaning "place of the rapids." They used this as a regional meeting place during whitefish season in the St. Mary's Rapids. (The anglicized form of this name, Bawating, is used in institutional and geographic names in the area.)
To the south, across the river, is the United States and the Michigan city of the same name. These two communities were one city until a new treaty after the War of 1812 established the border between Canada and the United States in this area at the St. Mary's River. Scout has a passion for Cheez-its! If I get out a box he will jump right in my lap and try to steal them out of my hand on the way to my mouth. When the box empties he sticks his head all the way in and licks the crumbs off the bottom. It doesn't seem to bother him that he can't see. I grabbed the camera which was set up for some other type of shooting as usual and snapped away. When I realized what I had done he was done with the box. I figured "next" time I will be better prepared. So naturally they stopped printing "Get Your Own Box" on the packages. So this is the best of what I got.

Christmas Pittock Mansion 2007 ~
"A Story Book Christmas"
The Pittock Mansion is the Crown jewel Castle in the West Hills of Portland, Oregon. Originally built as a private home for The Oregonian publisher Henry Pittock and his wife, Georgiana. It is a Grand style 22 room estate situated on 46 acres now owned by the city's Bureau of Parks and Recreation. The grounds provide panoramic views of Downtown Portland.
Each Christmas the Mansion is Decorated from top to bottom in a different special Christmas Holiday Theme. It is such a special treat and experience to get to go there and wander through the spectacular rooms all dressed up in Holiday Glitz, Fun, and the colors of Christmas.

BYOBW - "Bring Your Own Big Wheel" race (San Francisco).
This is a free and unauthorized event. People race with Big Wheel toy tricycles and other non-motorized vehicles down the steep and curvy segment of Vermont Street in Potrero Hill. The racers reach dangerous speed and frequently crash. This race used to take place on the famous curvy segment of Lombard St, but because some of the Lombard St residents did not like the event and asked the police to shut it down, in 2009 they moved the BYOBW race to Vermont St where the neighbors have a more positive attitude.

BYOBW - "Bring Your Own Big Wheel" race (San Francisco).
This is a free and unauthorized event. People race with Big Wheel toy tricycles and other non-motorized vehicles down the steep and curvy segment of Vermont Street in Potrero Hill. The racers reach dangerous speed and frequently crash. This race used to take place on the famous curvy segment of Lombard St, but because some of the Lombard St residents did not like the event and asked the police to shut it down, in 2009 they moved the BYOBW race to Vermont St where the neighbors have a more positive attitude.

The state of Kerala is located in the southern tip of India and is ranked among Top 50 Tourist Destinations of the World.
Also known as God's Own Country, this relatively small state will enthral visitors with its backwaters, houseboats, beaches, hill stations, churches and temples.
The natives of Kerala are tourist friendly and most of them understand English though the official language of the state is Malayalam.
The state is well connected with Railways & Airports in major cities, KTDC buses, and private tourist cabs.

Lansdowne Road was a stadium in Dublin owned by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) that has been the location of a number of sports stadiums. It was used primarily for rugby union and for association football matches as well as some music concerts. The stadium was demolished in 2007 to make way for the construction of the Aviva Stadium, which opened in 2010.
Lansdowne Road took its name from the adjacent street.
The stadium was replaced by a 50,000 all-seater football and rugby stadium that opened in May 2010. The development of the new stadium was finally announced in January 2004 at a cost of approximately €365 million; of this, €190 million came from the Irish government, with the remainder paid by the IRFU and Football Association of Ireland. The new stadium was designed by Populous, Scott Tallon Walker and Buro Happold, with ME Engineers providing the building services design. The development was originally meant to begin in January 2007 but was delayed. The demolition work of the stadium commenced on 17 May 2007.
Football and rugby internationals were mainly played at Croke Park while the Aviva Stadium was being developed, with fixtures in both sports also taking place at Thomond Park, and RDS Arena with Ravenhill Stadium also hosting a rugby international. Croke Park is owned by the Gaelic Athletic Association, whose rules until recently did not allow foreign sports to be played on their grounds.
In September 2006, Lars-Christer Olsson, CEO of UEFA, hinted that the new stadium might stage the UEFA Cup Final in 2010. The 2010 final was ultimately awarded to Hamburg, but in January 2009, UEFA named the new ground as the host stadium for the renamed 2011 UEFA Europa League Final.
In February 2009 a sponsorship deal, reported to be in the region of €44 million for 10 years, was struck under which the new stadium would be known as Aviva Stadium,which opened on 7 August 2010.
Getting some decent shots of this fellow was an experience on its own. I was laying in some bushes and was soon covered all over with bugs, but I was told they didn't harm you, so I didn't mind them crawling all over me. I even had a hard time looking through the viewfinder, but at least I managed some shots of this drake. Hvhe1 was at that moment running towards the car to get some DEET, as the bugs drove her crazy. Wished I had done that too as in the evening I was completely covered with mosquito-bites.... And she had none!

Our 29th wedding anniversary today! I kinda fancied 1st of April, but too many people were worried it might be an April fool, so we settled for the 2nd!
I met Jenny when I was working at the RSPB Minsmere reserve (Oct 79 to Apr 82). She was living at nearby Saxmundham and was already very interested in wildlife.
Our wedding was a very protracted affair. 4 days, but all fun. We had a big party for our friends from all over in Suffolk followed by the actual wedding in London. In my community, weddings last three days. The day of the actual wedding, the big henna party for the women the day before. Note not hen party, but henna where they decorate parts of their body (usually feet and hands) with henna. The day after the wedding, there was a very big party for both sides of the family. I am afraid, my family dominated! Jenny is an only child, comes from a small family many of whom live in Canada where she is from. I come from a large family, many of whom live in London and we also have an 'extended family' network.
A few days after we got married, we moved to the Scottish Highlands and had 13 years there. I was the warden at the RSPB Insh Marshes reserve. We only left there because I was offered a secondment to Tanzania (my birthplace)

This one may seem wacky for a lot of you, but trust me Doomstroke is a real character. Not many people remember him, but he appeared briefly in the Superman/Batman storyline “Night and Day”, which took place in an alternate reality where a bunch of DC characters were amalgamated into new ones. I love mashups in general, because they have the potential to yield something truly creative, so I had to make Doomstroke. Most of Doomstroke is made from a DCUC Deathstroke, with some pieces from a DCSH Doomsday. The Deathstroke mask and eye patch are sculpted, with the strips on the back from a Hasbro ML Elektra. I spliced together pieces of Doomsday's and Deathstroke's arms to make them mostly bare, with just a bit of sleeve. The rest is just strategic gluing of Doomsday's spikes that I cut off to fit on the Deathstroke figure. I even added some tiny spikes on his eyebrows to make them more pronounced. I added some nicks and cuts to Deathstroke’s sword and some Doomsday spikes to the pommel and crossguard, then painted it to look like Doomsday’s bony spikes. I also added Doomsday’s belt and attached the sword scabbard and pistol to him. Some dry brushes and washes later, Doomstroke is ready to take on any hero, no matter what dimension they come from!

Earlier days..Varapuzha was linked to Ernakulam by only a boat service.About 20 boats plied across these points, touching some 20 other points of jetties in various islands.Each boat required, a pilot, called srank, an engine man, two laskars. Laskar, no idea if it is Malayalam or English, did the tieing , untieing of boat in each jetty, while passageners were embarking and disembarking. That would mean, each boat provided employment for minimum four workers, and earnings for the owners family.Then there were ticket sellers at each jetty, who were also petty shop keepers at the jetty. Most jetty area had a shop, selling tea, beedies and the like.
Things have changed. New bridges arrived.
Twenty boats had no business, they reduced the number of trips to four, done by two boats. That is not full time employment for boats, and staff. Soon, the boat owners may decide to stop this service.
I would say..this journey is a ride through the paradise.."The Gods Own Country"
