It was one of those beautiful sunsets in Los Angeles. The sun was orange red and huge. Its glow is reflected in the window...

I find this combination of the window and the flag and the sculpture and the brick support to be all from different times and places. Typical LA? Yes, and that's why I love this crazy place!

"Stand Out In A Crowd" for week 51 (Paint the Moon project)

Different, unusual, odd, etc...is what I think of as far as standing out in a crowd. This beautiful stone stairway is very close to my home. I am intrigued with it. Every time I drive by it, I wonder...

Where did it once lead?

Who walked the steps?

How old is it?

Why is it still there?

I wished these steps could talk! Usually they are overgrown with weeds and poison. Today, I drive by and they are completely cleared and to my surprise they are decorated. Surrounded by a crowd of trees stands this beautiful stone stairway stands there and still looks beautiful.

Processed Wham Bam, and from the Luminosity Collection I used Rhapsody and Icy Thistle.

4 Out of 5 Pro Class Shootout Drivers Were DSE Equipped at Goodguys Kissimmee

Mooresville, NC - This was the first year for Goodguys Rod & Custom Association All American Nationals at Kissimmee and it did not disappoint. It was a good show all three days with great weather and a lot of autocrossing action.

For this event they had a little twist on the Pro-Class in the autocross with the top five drivers going into a shootout to determine the winner. It was great to see that 4 out of the 5 shootout drivers were DSE "Equipped." Stacy just missed out on the top five finishing with a very hard fought 6th place in her Detroit Speed 1969 Camaro Test Car, just .700 of a second behind the 5th place qualifier. The finals came down to Danny Popp in his 1972 Corvette vs Kyle Tucker in his DSE 1970 Camaro Test Car. Danny managed to beat out Kyle in a great battle that was separated by less than a second to take the win. Our good friends from Jet-Hot, Tim McGilton and Cheryl Herrick raced great all weekend and came out with a 3rd and 5th place finish respectively.

Aside from all the racing action, the Detroit Speed Hauler was packed all weekend long with customers and friends stopping by to see the suspension up close that carved all of the corners out on the autocross throughout the weekend. We would like to thank everybody from Goodguys for putting on an excellent event for the 2st Goodguys Kissimmee show. We look forward to coming back and seeing everyone next year! goo.gl/702pUr

Inside-Out, Bridging Possibilities, encourages incarcerated youth to explore safe and healthy lifestyles and to overcome disabilities through the development of leadership and social skills. “Inside Out” meets Arizona education standards.

Our programs provide and demonstrate endless possibilities and options for the individual through the experiential creative process of whole-brain thinking. This awakens a creative consciousness and exposes the individual to the unlimited potential of critical thinking, problem solving, and self-empowerment, awakening the individual to new possibilities and a new purpose that leads to improved life skills and becoming a productive community member. Without these critical life skills, the still maturing minds of detained youth view their future as bleak and set in stone with no hope for a “normal” life.

2005 RTF instituted the first “Inside Out – Bridging Possibilities” Workshops at Durango and SEF Detention Centers.

Workshops at these Detention Centers confirmed that 25% of the participants had no further problems with breaking the law. Detention staff attributed this to the Workshop, reduce the recidivism rate, a tremendous fiscal savings & new beginnings for the youth.

Goals:

1 To present educational programs and workshops in detention facilities.

2 To teach youth valuable life skills focusing on dealing with conflicts and anger.

3 To share with the community a message stressing decreased violence of all types.

4 To introduce new and fresh perspectives thought the creative process.

5 To enlighten participants about their purpose in life.

Description of the program, including the goals, expected outcome:

Inside-Out Bridging Possibilities program engages individuals to explore safe and healthy lifestyles, to overcome their disabilities through leadership and social skills development. It exposes the participants to creative problem solving and creates the opportunity to shift a life to a more effective and peaceful outlet. Between Pre & Post surveys the participants engage in team reflective surveys, after each exercise. Where they take turns being a team leader and are responsible for extracting inquiry from their team and reporting to the entire group their findings. How would this activity help you in your day life in school or out, and why? This engages the participants in a whole-brain thinking process of the creative activities they just experienced. Also introduces them to teamwork, listening skills and the confidence of public speaking. At the end of the 3-day workshop, as the culmination and pinnacle of their experiences drawn from the program, participants create a group painting to present to the public; an expression created by persons from multiple perspectives can be harmonious and unifying. Thus, this is not only a healing experience for the group but also a community awareness campaign, sharing a message of decreased violence of all types. Our findings from Pre & Post results, majority realize that they are not alone in their fears and that their dreams can become reality. By introducing new and fresh perspectives through the power of the creative process, our participants learn to embrace life and fully realize its endless possibilities. Shifting awareness turns Pain into the means of Bridging their Possibilities, so participants can become enlightened about their Purpose and lead a productive life.

There are no other programs with similar methodology of teaching valuable life skills, enhance participants’ sense of self and surroundings, and allow them to experience alternative ways of dealing with conflict and anger.

The need for our program & popular demand; each potential participant is required to read and fill out a form that details the program and why they feel they deserve to participate. Due to class size restraints only 20 of 60 that applied were selected by the staff at The Durango Facility, as well as SEF. As you can see, the program and its life changing experience and results are becoming very popular amongst the kids at both facilities, through word of mouth.
