The last big training event of WTI where we launch a massive assault onto an old landing strip out in the middle of the Yuma desert.
After a break of far too many days I managed to venture back to the cliffs. The light was just about perfect and, as the Sun slowly set behind the hills, this little Wheatear took a minute to watch.

She played her whistle, and (perhaps coincidentally) a moose appeared on the other side of Rock Creek. The moose stood still and appeared to listen (wiggled her ears, even), but who can know if she was really paying attention. Then, at a point in time that was more or less concurrent with when the music finished, the noble beast trotted up the hill and out of sight.
On Monday 18th December, 19 Junior cadets from 1360 squadron took part in their passing out parade, enrolling formally as cadets of the squadron. We also saw a variety of awards handed out, as well as a fond farewell to Sgt Mteta, who has been a loyal member of the squadron for many years, as she leaves to focus on studies. We wish her all the best
When I walked out of work and across the parking lot last night, the side of my car was in a snowdrift from the pounding wind. This shot is of the drifting snow, the shadow of my car hiding the light from the streetlamp. The sepia color patterns remind me of sand drifts in the desert.
What I noticed the most about today was texture. The texture of blowing snow, trees covered with snow, ice patterns on the windshield. It's hard to describe how cold it was when I stopped to take this photograph. The wind was whipping past my ears, my hands almost numb. It was hard to choose between the night snowdrift and the rabbit tracks. You can see the tracks in surrounding photos.

Mrs Trawets and I were out for a local walk today, but I don't think the family at Cessnock castle were at home to visitors.

Bou went to the vet this morning to do an ultrasound for his bladder (infection). We got an all clear (YAY). Just 2 stubborn spots of debris that the vet isn't worried about.
Now the not so good news. Bou's heart sounds worse. The vet has doubled his dosage for 3 days (he takes 4 tablets twice a day anyway) and we go back after 3 days. He will be on a cardiac diet (kibble -sigh), till we can at least get his heart in a better place.
I thought Bou was doing so good. Anyway, I am optimistic. So my Bou has a big heart (enlarged is the medical term) but I always knew that :)

P.S Mary Anne wanted to know if Bou is good at the vet and with all the tests. Well, he's an angel. He really is on his best behaviour there and everyone is "oh, he's a sweetheart!" Yeah right! :) He's such an actor!

friday 19th june;
today i stayed in, which was the original idea but if i had made plans then i would've had to cancel them anyway as joe's five year old brother klark accidently landed knee first on my toe yesturday and resulting in half my toe nail hanging off. i therefore cannot wear my shoe's to go out.
i woke up at 3:05pm (yeah i know i'm lazy) but i didn't get to bed till 04:00am.
as soon as i got up i went on msn and joe was being the sweetest.
