Italian and European Landscape Photography
Winter 2009 has been the most snowy winter of the last twenty years here in Northern Italy. In this series of "White Outs" I have depicted the snow covered fields and trees of the plain at the feet of the Alps in Piedmont, Italy
This, and the other 3 pictures are of a farmstead that flooded out in 1997, and stayed flooded ever since. Pretty eerie place, too.
24 July 2013. Um Maraheik: Students hang out after the class at the secondary school for boys and girls in Um Maraheik, North Darfur.
This school, with 6 classrooms, was built in December 2012 and sponsored by UNAMID DDR (Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration) as part of a Community Based-Labour Intensive Project (CLIP).
Before, the 60 students in this center, all aged 14-17 years, used to travel to El Fasher everyday (25 kilometers away) to receive their education.
However, the school does not have professional teachers yet and it's requesting to be provided with three by the Ministry of Education. Currently, all students (boys and girls) are accommodated together in one classroom and taught by a volunteer teacher.

Our redbud tree is leafing out with its pink flowers blooming in the background. 2/3 of this tree was dead and cut down this year. The remaining 1/3 is giving us hope for the better.

No Jojo is not canvassing yet for her seat in Parliament as there are still four days left before the General Election before I even start thinking about it. Of course if The Smooth Bottom Party doesn't win this might be a contributary factor but having a manifesto with only one thing on it there is not much to have to crow on about. Also unlike the other political parties who lie about what they promise to do we are keeping it a secret for now just in case they steal our one and only brilliant idea. However you never know we might think of another one by Thursday. This is where we lived shortly after I was born and this fine Georgian property the Hawthorns was a lovely house then but sadly now it is student flats. Need I say more.
KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – Rumbling fire truck engines began new chapter in Sembach history opened Oct. 1, as U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern assumed base operations at the former U.S. Air Force installation.
Civilian firefighters drove in Army fire trucks, replacing Air Force trucks, during and early morning event
that included an airman handing over keys to the fire house. Afterward, a new sign identifying the fire station
as a U.S. Army operation was fixed onto the building.
Sembach’s military history dates back to a French airfield following World War I. In 1951,
it became a U.S. air base. In January 2010, U.S. Army Installation Management Command, Europe Region, received Army approval to accept the transfer of the base, located just northeast of Kaiserslautern in the German state of Rheinland Pfalz.
The transfer of the base, now called Sembach kaserne, is primarily based on the future
Army stationing needs as required to support Army Europe transformation. In Dec. 2009, the 230th Military
Police Company relocated from Rhine Ordnance Barracks to Sembach. No final decisions have been made as
to what other organizations and units will permanently relocate to Sembach.

John Deere to the rescue. It wasn't that the YJ didn't try. What you dont see is the depth of the holes. The ruts were filled in just before he ran and he went throught the ruts fine, got hung up on the filled in spot. You should have 35s to run here according the sign. I did see a stock JK Rubicon run through.
There's a big world out there. Bigger than prom, bigger than high school, and it won't matter if you were the prom queen or the quarterback of the football team or the biggest nerd. Find out who you are and try not to be afraid of it.
~ Not sure who said it, but it is excellent advice for those about to graduate high school.

Having a terrible time with Flickr...such a pain anymore!!!! This is a scene out near me...boy Autumn is moving right along!! Been busy peeling, cutting, washing apples to dry and freeze....what a ton of work!!! It's always nice when it's done though...and have all those tasty apples to enjoy for the next year! Have a nice week ahead everyone! :)
