Homage/Response to Ron's image in the "Take Two" diptych project.
When Rubik's Cube initially appeared here in 1980 there were no books about solving it and I was not mature enough to separate different operations - to make a solution conceivable. This is how I imagine I responded. (side note: The cube with peeled-off and re-applied stickers was an unexpected yet inevitable solution by a four year old.)
The amphitheater provides a large, level surface for practice when the studio is closed.

I put a red 25 filter over my lens today. Restyle with "Black and Cornsilk Grey", normal mode blending at 70%, gives tones reminiscent of a 19th century print.
Why a filter?
This filter reduces noise in black areas. This one was processed at +2.0 eV and the ceiling looks grainy, rather than speckled.

Yodography - Portmanteau of Yoda Photography
"Do or do not. There is no try" Yoda, the Empire strikes back.
Sometimes I have thought about a photo I would like to take but, for limitations of time, film, or something else I have to stop before I get it. I have only one or two chances to get it right. These images I whimsically categorize as Yodography so I can, much later, determine what went differently than my idea and whether it was better or worse for it.

Details
This modified Harris Shutter Effect image generates colored "ghosts" on a black background. Things that move and other differences between three more-or-less sequential photos are emphasized while static features turn black. Different subject textures depend on fortuitous placement of background details.

Trying to upstage the passing Champlin Park Rebels marching band during the Rosefest parade 6/24/24 (Roseville, MN). I was focused on the drummers in this instance.
Mary/Goldsardine's no longer curated effort Felt Life might have approved of this scene. The group was actively curated until about March, 2009. If you are curious what it was try looking here or earlier.
Processing note
This was from a series of JPG shot in burst mode for a motion study. Onlooking faces were overexposed in the color version, necessitating conversion to B&W (Analog Efex, BW preset 7) along with selective color filtering to hide blown out sections.

I noticed an aged "dog vomit" slime mold beside a bush and imagined it looked like something spilled. Add part of a radicchio leaf and it looks like a burning cup of dog vomit.
There was a plastic or gel figure forgotten on a bench in the Walker art center, so I arranged a few images where it seemed to gesture at nearby art. These proved more interesting than my other high-key trials for Macro Monday's 9-8-25 theme.
This figure is approximately 5-6cm tall, estimated after the fact, but you can judge for yourself in the photo below. Using this as a guide the foreground area in focus was cropped to be less than 7.5 cm wide. Regrettably, I neglected to record the artist responsible for the background light sculpture.

It's a little rusty, but may still function. Most telephone poles in the neighborhood have recently been denuded of paper flyers, either for periodic cleaning or the switch to hanging with tape.
Processing note: This camera needs noise reduction. I used DXO prime. Contrast and color enhanced with DXO filmpack (generic Kodak 64 preset).
George Washington, shown on a quarter, might be considered a big profile to fill.

Imagining things with "21" for Flickr's 21st birthday
I was chasing splashes (backjets) with a low perspective on a rainy day.
Crispy processing note:
The color JPG was contrast enhanced with film emulation (DXO filmpack, Adox CHS 100 preset) by curve adjustment, to crush black (+60) and blow highlights (-5), microcontrast and fine contrast increased to about +20, exposure increased to about +0.60.
About Project Toy:
On a busy holiday trip I kept a small number of toys in pocket, hoping for opportunity to improvise something in or around Atchison's old houses.

The old phone poles in Dinkytown, long used for stapled advertisements, are being replaced with newer ones lacking this stapled character. The staples themselves are 3/8 inch (0.95cm). The indicated reference staple is oriented for minimal distortion of its longest aspect, and can be used to determine the height is less than 7cm. The image is square.
This image was edited from the original, as suggested by an admin, and resubmitted.

I was looking at graffiti outside the chemistry building at the university of Bucharest, Romania (Europe) and imagined this image. My subject wouldn't pose for me, so I posed and he took the shot.
