I wasn't going to post this, as this is considerably below my standards of quality. I do so for a historical, and a learning context.
I had a busy day, and topping it off was chasing the CN M338 job on this day from Genoa, IL to East Dubuque, IL. After I got the shot at Galena, I rushed to East Dubuque. I wanted this to be my signature shot of the day. I didn't beat him there by much, until he was stopped by two BNSF "Z" trains, and then it took quite along time for the bridge tender to close the bridge over the Mississippi River. By this time, it was 10:45 PM. And I was getting tired.
But he showed up, and with a minute to spare, I turned on my flashes, and checked my focus. Unfortunately, I didn't set the exposure time back to what it should have been. I set the exposure time to 1 second to get my focus, because most cameras can't focus in darkness; you have to do focus in the dark manually. In short, I forgot to set the exposure back to 1/250 of a second, instead of the 1 second exposure I used to focus on a nearby street light. That mistake cost me an excellent shot.
I know that when I am very tired, I can make mistakes. I reminded myself after this frustrating moment to review everything a second time to make sure everything is set properly when I am feeling subpar. I make fewer mistakes now that I have had experience chasing trains, but this one was a real "Grrrrr!" moment when I realized what I had done. Although I am now very good at not making critical errors, every great now and then, something like this happens, and I blow the shot. The last time I did something like this, I *was* able to recover and get the shot. But I probably won't see the Norfolk Southern "Virginian" heritage unit come into the tunnel at East Dubuque ever again. Lesson learned!

Two of the Lancashire operator's coaches are seen here resting in Preston Bus Station in 05/1993, obviously when day shopping excursions were popular to the the now city status of Preston. It was and probably still is a reasonably popular shopping destination for the folks of South Cumbria and North Lancashire areas. This was before the days of Manchester's Trafford Centre though. Shaw-Hadwin, are now better known as The Travellers Choice, operating out of Carnforth with their main depot and the Dalton-in-Furness depot that serves South Cumbria. The two coaches seen here are, facing the camera, on the left, 104, UIA7087, a Plaxton Supreme III bodied, with a Supreme IV facelift front, Volvo B58-61. New registered FEC952T, in 11/1978 and was probably one of the first re-registered vehicles with Shaw's. Alongside, with it's side lockers open, is 115, 6137RU, also a B58-61, but with the Plaxton Supreme IV body. This was new to Glenway(Central), Ripponden, in 02/1980, registered BHD588V. Bought by Shaw's in 1983, it received 6137RU in 05/1984.
The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being a Boots Colourslide II.

Unknown operator, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, 2010.
Although photographed in Wisconsin, this was not originally a Wisconsin bus. Wisconsin was the very last US state to specify red-only flashers, not converting to red/amber 8-ways until 2016. So, where could this have come from? Michigan was also on 4-ways for the duration of the 1970s, while Illinois buses typically had front-facing reflectors. That leaves Iowa and Minnesota as the only likely places of provenance...although I'm not an expert on either states' standards. Any ideas?

A passenger waves to me while the operator is in the window in a green shirt. In the background is a decades-old, white faded rectangular sign which reads, "Ride the incline for a Panoramic View of Chattanooga"
The train cars get replaced every about 15 years and I think this one was placed in service in 2020.
From Wikipedia:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lookout_Mountain_Incline_Railway
The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway is a 4 ft. 8+1⁄2 in. standard gauge inclined plane funicular railway leading to the top of Lookout Mountain from the historic St. Elmo neighborhood of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Passengers are transported from St. Elmo's Station at the base, to Point Park at the mountain summit, which overlooks the city and the Tennessee River. It is just a short drive to three of Chattanooga's main tourist attractions, Ruby Falls, Cavern Castle, and Rock City. The railway is approximately one mile in length (single-track except for a short two-track passing loop at the midway point, allowing operation of two cars at one time). It has a maximum grade of 72.7%, making it one of the world's steepest passenger railways. It obtained Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark status in 1991. The cable system for the cars was made by the Otis Elevator Company.
History:
The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway (Incline No. 2) was opened on November 16, 1895, by the Chattanooga Incline and Lula Lake Railway and functions as a major mode of transportation to the top of the mountain. It was the second of two inclines constructed on Lookout Mountain; the first was the Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain Railway (Incline No. 1), which operated from 1886 to 1895 and dismantled in 1900. Service was disrupted twice by fires that destroyed the powerhouse, upper station and cars stored there overnight (the first fire occurring on December 13, 1896, and the second on March 24, 1919). Both fires put the railway temporarily out of service, substitute service being provided by the Chattanooga Railway and Light Company's Lookout Mountain route. The railway was sold in the 1940s to Southern Coach Lines and is now operated by the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority, the area's public transit agency.
The Incline Railway is a well-known and beloved Chattanooga landmark; the railway has been depicted in numerous regional and national publications, including being on TV. The railway is one of the main tourist attractions in the Chattanooga area, totaling over 100,000 visits annually. The top station features an observation deck and a gift shop.

Bolt torque: Park Tool TW-5.2 used on all bolts and hardware.
Carbon fiber frame prep:
Park Tool AP-1 adhesive primer
Park Tool RC-1 retaining compound
Combining carbon fiber and aluminum components:
Park Tool SAC-2 (Silica Assembly Compound).
Press fit retaining compound RC-1 - for all non-threaded parts.
Adhesive Primer AP-1 - for all carbon fiber parts - MUST be used - dry time approx 30 min, so do it first, then work on the bike, etc
Carbon and alloy assembly compound SAC-2 (NOTE: Assembly compounds hold by using grip aided by small bits of hard silica. This silica may cause minor cosmetic blemishing. Do not use SAC-2 on threaded parts or for bearing lubrication) good for stopping seatpost slip, stem to handlebar slip, etc. with no drying time.
Prior to using TLR-1, AP-1 must be used when the component or fastener contact carbon fiber such as the BB92 bottom bracket or bearings pressed into carbon fiber frames. Failure to do so could result in permanently bonded parts.
The doors in this disused operating theatre looked like something from a horror film...because that's precisely what they were! Apparently this room had been used as a film set at some point, hence the 'blood-soaked' doors.
It goes without saying we liked this room...a LOT! ;-)
