Thanks to Zach Gage and Memo Akten for the *awesome* class. It was amazingly fun to go from a blank iPhone+oF project all the way through a working Pong implementation!

I've been working a bit on the video tracking part of the project.
The idea is that two cameras are used, one for XY and one for Z.
Here for debugging I'm using the same video on both, a short clip of peach I tied one a piece of string, but I need to set up a small test bed for this soon.
A bit of filtering and you have yourself the blob you are interested in and can transform from the camera positions into virtual space. The exact filtering steps will probably change later, now I get away with just some thresholding and erosion.
On the electronics side I've just taken delivery of one of these motors:

It's pretty powerful, and a lot more directed than the fan I was using.

working with david sanz kirbis on kinect depth-based head pose estimation www.vision.ee.ethz.ch/~gfanelli/pubs/dagm11.pdf
runs at about 15 fps on my macbook pro, works up to 1.5-2m from the kinect, has maybe a +/-15 degree jitter in pose estimation (can probably be reduced by doing some temporal filtering of the depth image).

An interface for controlling a cubic spline, continuously evaluated and stored in a lookup table.
Something like the 'curves' function in Photoshop.
