In Medellin they say that if you can't find something around Plaza Minorista then it doesn't exist. In the midst of the hustle and bustle are countless stalls where entrepreneurial merchants sell anything and everything, including cheap haircuts.
It has been raining for several weeks in Sydney. It seems to be open sky. It is still raining a lot so muddy water flows. I went there today morning.

Sunset across golden fields.
I created this panorama from two 9-exposure HDR files captured with the D200. The HDR processed shot was used selectively over the places in the picture that needed an expanded dynamic range.
This is one of my later shots with the old D200 camera. By this time, I was really wringing every last bit of quality I could from the older sensor.
Open your eye that you may see
The beauty that around you lies,
The misty loveliness of the dawn,
The glowing colors of the skies;
The Child's bright eager eyes of blue,
The gnarled and wrinkled face of age,
The bird with crimson on his wing
Whose spirit never knew a cage;
The roadsides blooming goldenrod
So brave through summer's wind and heat,
The brook that rushes to the sea
With courage that naught may defeat.
Open your eyes that you may see
The wonder that around you lies;
It will enrich your every day
And make you glad and kind and wise.

Continuing on with fall scenes from the mountain west region, we start with another road trip, this time over Cottonwood Pass, 12,126 ft. This pass will take you over the continental divide to the towns of Crested Butte and Salida.
I begin here with The Comanche Drive-In, built in 1966... a historic family-owned drive-in theater located in Buena Vista, Colorado, offering a stunning view of the surrounding peaks at an elevation of 8000 ft.
It was nice to see an open window, for once. This is part of an office/restaurant complex. Hoping for more open windows and doors to come. Soon.
Stay well everyone, have a great Wednesday!

An extended dry spell came to an end today. This young Gull was exploring a newly created kerbside puddle created by this morning's deluge.
Every country has a certain amount of natural beauty. New Zealand just happens to have loads of it.
Better still, it’s not just concentrated in a few remote corners. The great scenery of our wide open spaces surrounds and inspires us, even in our biggest cities.
Living in the city makes me forget how open Tx can be even around the suburban areas as it waits for more development.
On this first day of Spring the open water in this creek lays still as it disappears into the horizon.
This stretch of road leads to a portion of Canyonlands National Park, south of Moab, Utah. Looks very lonely in this shot taken during early summer.

With their work completed at the Prairie State Energy Campus, the crew of CN train L544 has called up plant security on the radio and asked them to open the gate. Minutes later, the remotely operated gate swings open and the train makes its way back towards the St. Louis Subdivision mainline.

A bright cluster of hirsute White Pasqueflower (Pulsatilla occidentalis) welcomes its pollinators with open arms and promises of pollen, Manning Provincial Park, British Columbia.
Happy Easter to all - a time of year when we celebrate life, rejuvenation, fertility of nature and spirit, and promises of both plant and animal fecundity in the coming months. Of course, it feels a bit odd saying that as the snow continues to pile up outside, and the nighttime temperature is forecast to reach 15 ˚F. Methinks the fruit trees that leafed out over the past several days when temperatures approached 70 ˚F will be rewarded for their efforts with a pinching cold in bud and twig. It also feels odd thinking about life and rejuvenation in the midst of a pandemic. Odd though it may be, it is life and rejuvenation that will see us through, one way or the other...
