Collared dove
Scientific name
Streptopelia decaocto
The collared dove is a small pigeon found on farmland and in woodland, parks and gardens across the country. Since breeding in the UK was first recorded in the 1950s, numbers have increased and the collared dove is now one of our commonest garden birds. Collared doves feed on seeds and grain on the ground and are usually seen singularly or in pairs, although small flocks may form where there is enough food.

The Yellow-eared Parrot (Ognorhynchus icterotis) is an emblematic species of Colombia’s high-altitude cloud forests, and Roncesvalles, Tolima, is one of the few strongholds where it can still be found. This photograph captures the parrot perched delicately among dried, curling leaves, its bright green and yellow plumage illuminated by the soft, golden hues of the setting sun. The background, a blend of deep blues and warm earth tones, adds depth and contrast, highlighting the bird’s striking colors.
Shooting this endangered species in perfect light required patience and careful positioning. The interplay between natural light and the bird’s feathers created a rich texture, while the shallow depth of field ensured the subject stood out sharply from its surroundings. The composition balances the organic flow of the branches with the parrot’s confident posture, making for a dynamic yet peaceful image. Moments like these remind me why conservation and photography go hand in hand—preserving not just images, but the stories of these rare birds.

One World Trade Center, also known as One World Trade, One WTC, and formerly called the Freedom Tower during initial planning stages, is the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Designed by David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, One World Trade Center is the tallest building in the United States, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and the seventh-tallest in the world. The supertall structure has the same name as the North Tower of the original World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The new skyscraper stands on the northwest corner of the 16-acre (6.5 ha) World Trade Center site, on the site of the original 6 World Trade Center. It is bounded by West Street to the west, Vesey Street to the north, Fulton Street to the south, and Washington Street to the east.

When I saw the forest between the fog, this colorful tree was immediately noticed in the middle of it, that looked really great

Maybe 2020 is not lost but a time to reflect, re-evaluate and rediscover. Our future existence will be secured by uniting all its people. With the strength of global unity we can focus on making the world a better place for our children, grandchildren and all future generations. Just imagine!

For 'Smile on Saturday' group theme of "reflection in a knife".
Many of the the knives in the house started with a satin finish and that doesn't provide any sort of reflection. All our other knives seem old, well used and scratched but what can you expect after over 50 years of use. The only exceptions seem to be a couple of steak knives usually kept in a box! This is one of the best - less scratched I mean.
Balanced on its back using a 'bulldog' clip and resting on a piece of white paper, I placed an upright mirror behind the knife to add a bit more depth to the photograph - got some odd bokeh as a result. The slightly battered marble is one of several in a dish on my desk top - a dish into which all sorts of odd items get dropped if I think they might be very useful.
Illuminated by the usual desk light, and that's the photograph!
Except, I am still experimenting with the lens that I 'hacked out' of an old film camera and have glued onto a camera body cap.. It produces rather odd soft photos that certainly have a character of their own.
