Theories range from getting oxygen for the Bald Cypress tree to helping stabilize the tree because of it's shallow root system, but no one has yet figured out the real purpose of cypress knees. Just another one of those unsolved mysteries of nature.
Temps below 20 degrees this morning in the swamps...stay warm, people!!!

"You're in charge
You always were
There's no denying
Fire burns
I took alot
But now I'm gonna give
Back to you
Whatever I got
Cos we are one
And we'll always be
You were born first
Forever connected to me
Connected to me.."

We are off once again to spend the harshest Canadian winter months in a warmer place. Although I love our winters I do not love them for the six months that they last here at Keefer Lake so Rosa and I choose to shorten it by a few months by living in Portugal. I am looking forward to reuniting with our Portuguese cousins and the sound of the waves on the beach. It will be a few days before I reconnect with you all from our abode at Praia Grande. Take good care!

A beautiful lily with lots of pollen on the bottom petal. Photographed early one summer morning at the Enabling Garden in Altoona, Iowa.
Developed with Darktable 4.8.0.
One of the most entertaining things about self-driving safaris is that once you're parked and quiet, the animals ignore you and just go about their business. This lion (and the others) walked so close to our vehicle a couple times that we rolled up the windows (just in case).

The old Japanese Maple is my favorite one in the Kubota Garden in Seattle. It spreads high and wide and displays lovely autumn colors in late October.
Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday!

I play too many women and too many pinball machines
They take all your money
Don't you give you back a thing
Not a doggone thing
Too much whiskey and too many bottles of beer
I drink too much whiskey and too many bottles of beer
Well if one don't get me
I know the other will
Oh yes it will

Thank you for your visit, most appreciated!
The last of my shots from Piers Park on Monday. Large cities like Boston glow so beautifully at night.
This was about 140 seconds or so. Something like that.
Here the traffic sign seems to indicate that you do not go to church, and as the church is today (at least in Europe) I am not surprised!
Thank you very much for your visits, faves, and kind comments.
These little ones were captured a week ago also, but the TransMontana of MMV ( flic.kr/p/2pDz1CE ) deserved to be released earlier. I watched these little flowers every morning while going to work, and hoped they will survive the week without wounds. On the end of the week they looked well enough for some bokeh pictures.
