University of Saint Mary Nursing graduates were presented with the official USM pin, a symbol of achievement in the field, in the 2015 Nursing Pinning Ceremony, held May 8, 2015.
The pinning ceremony is an historic ritual that dates all the way back to Florence Nightingale.

With a population of just over 350,000, Bilbao is the capital city of the Biscay province within the autonomous community of the Basque Country (El Pais Vasco). It is the 10th largest city in Spain and considered to be the economic powerhouse of Northern Spain. That description rather belies the fact that it is a beautiful city in its own right with large, open squares, parks, impressive buildings and monuments and pleasant riverside walks. But for many, the main attraction of the city is the quite amazing Guggenheim Museum designed by the Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry. Many would argue that the regeneration of this fine industrial city owes much to this building, which was completed in 1997. Whilst the museum houses many fine works by prominent modern and contemporary artists/sculptors - including David Hockney - it’s the curvy, titanium-clad building that draws the most attention. According to the weather, the time of day and the season, the effect of the light on its exterior can change quite significantly leaving the observer to marvel at its design. Note, the Church of Saint Michael was built to a design by Messrs Dixon and Breakspeare and was consecrated on 29th September 1851. In 1879 Saint Bartholomew’s parish was created from part of Saint Michael’s parish, Saint Bartholomew’s church closing in 1962. The now Church of Saint Michael with Saint Bartholomew was awarded Grade II listed building status on 9th May 2003

On Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew in Grand Rapids, Bishop David Walkowiak ordained Father Andrew Ayers and Father Rob Mulderink as priests for the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Friends, family, clergy, and religious were present to support and celebrate our diocese's newest priests.
Father Andrew celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, June 2, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. He has been appointed by Bishop Walkowiak as parochial vicar of Our Lady of Consolation in Rockford.
Father Rob celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, June 2 at St. Luke University Parish in Allendale. He has been appointed by Bishop Walkowiak as parochial vicar of the Basilica of St. Adalbert-St. James and St. Mary parishes in Grand Rapids. They begin their appointments on July 1.

Part of Barbara Hepworth's The Family of Man sculpture.
The work dates to 1970 and was made from bronze by the Wakefield native before going on display at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park near by.
It is made up of a series of nine bronze figures, with those representing the younger members of the family more simple, with the sculptures becoming more complicated as they represent older people.
The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is just of the M1 at West Bretton, near Wakefield and occupies a 500-acre country estate interspersed with numerous outdoor sculptures.
There are numerous trails and paths through various zones, with sculptures by such artists as Henry Moore and Antony Gormley among those whose works are exhibited.
The sculptures – which are regularly moved from place to place within the park – blend into the gardens, hillsides and around a small lake, providing an outdoor environment in which to view the works both from afar and up close – and sometimes even from within.

'Sands of Time'

Sands of Time is a steampunk inspired beaded cuff. It features not only gears in antique copper and brass, but also clock hands, genuine goldstone chips and genuine amber chips.
The clasp is a simple beaded loop that fits completely over a handmade lampwork lentil bead by White Raven Creations, of which no more will be made, as the proprietor no longer does lampwork.
The beaded loop also, thanks to the unique shape of the lampwork bead, fits snugly into the 'cut' areas on the bead and holds very well, keeping the bead flatter than ity would if completely over.
Many of the gears on the cuff actually move, some more easily than others, as to the clock hands.
The entire piece was hand beaded using 6lb FireLine for strength and durability. It carries a good bit of weight to it, letting the wearer know it is definately there.

During the writing process of this photo on the memory card (SD CARD) something wrong happened. No idea what is the cause of it. If someone know the explanation, please, write me a comment.
I find the curvature of vertical patterns interesting.The landscape of the background is the picture I was taking but with no colour info and a sort of noise.
Seems like a way to replicate an abstract result following only physical laws without the author thinking guidance. The same process was applied by Pollock for his creations.

These photos and videos show the 115 volunteers hard at work in Bread and Cheese Creek in the Merritt Boulevard area between Merritt Boulevard and Willow Road on 4/14/12 (Our original goal was Plainfield Road by our incredible volunteers wet way beyond that goal.
Together we cut up and moved 3 fallen trees blocking the stream, we removed thirty yards of trash and debris, on twenty yards of metal metal (which included 7 shopping carts, a lawn mower, and engine head and the bumper from a 1972 Chevelle), 7 tires, 5 cans of paint 2 bicycles, a couch, a bowling ball and an office chair.
All left over donated food is re-donated to the local food kitchen "Staint Rita's Table" which hosts dinners for Dundalk's needy and homeless every Monday evening.

Fracking and Cracking and Plastics, Oh My!!
The People Over Petro coalition assembled on Oct. 22 (during the Shale Insight Conference in Pittsburgh, PA) for an action that conjures a fantasy to draw attention to an unfortunate reality: that fossil fuels and fracked plastic are no way to run an economy. Photo: Shoreline Village in Long Beach taken from the base of the Lions Lighthouse looking east. This is about an hour before sunset and you can see that everything has a nice warm reddish hue. Also the shadows are long adding a little more character to the scene.
Another tool you can use to enhance your photos is to take pictures at the time of day known in photography as the “Golden Hour”. This is the time that is roughly the first hour after sunrise and the last hour before sunset. When the sun is near the horizon in the morning and evening, the low angle of the sun creates a nice tone to the scene. The light is softer then the harsh mid day sun. Also, because the sun’s rays are starting to bend around the horizon, we get more of the red from the color spectrum. Additionally, the shadows are longer which can enhance the near ground.
A nice example are the two “18 of 52 Results” photos. The main results photo was taken one hour before sunset while the extra photo was taken around noon. The main photo has a much softer red tone with nice long shadows vs. the direct light in the extra photo.
Personally, I like the light about one hour before sunset because there’s still good light and we still get the fun red tones and playful shadows, but we’re not having to deal with the exposure level issues right at sunset of large areas of dark shadows on the ground with bright sky’s above like I ran into with the Spokane Clock Tower photo.
The Goal:
Take two pictures of the same scene, one near noon and one near sunset (or sunrise) to see what differences the two times of day has on the photos.
Camera Settings:
Tripod recommended for low light situations.
Set the Camera to Manual.
All other settings are your choice.
Procedure:
Compose an outdoor scene that is facing in a direction that is not west. This is so neither picture’s exposure level will be affected by sunlight shinning directly into the camera (if you are taking a sunrise instead of a sunset, don’t face the camera east). Take one picture of this scene around noon and then come back and take another photo of the same scene near sunset. Download the pictures to your computer and compare them to see the differences. Among other things, note which photo’s light seems warmer/harsher and how the red afternoon tones affect the mood of the scene compared to the photo taken at noon. Keep the photo that is most pleasing.

The exhibition is based around “The Jungle” - an EXTRACTEUR art format, created to collect data about prejudice and give them an evolutive artistic form. The format also includes academic studying of the collected data in order to understand the anatomy of prejudice. The information collected during the exhibition period is aesthetically forming part of a monumental sculptural artwork, but can at the same time be considered as valuable data for scientific and academic purposes. This doubleness between aesthetics and analytics is the core idea of all EXTRACTEUR formats, developed to analyze the socio-political context of the world we live in through artists lens. By the end of the 5-year long exhibition period, the collected data will consist of a huge number of detections of xenophobia-signs reported by 50.000 active participants.
