A closed four seater Grand Tourer the original 541 made it's debut appearance in prototype form at the 1953 Earls Court, London Motor Show with an aluminium body, although this changed to glass fibre for the production car. Designed by Eric Neale the car was aerodynamically efficient for its day with a Cd figure of 0.39
The 541R was introduced in 1957 differing from the 541 by using rack and pinion steering instead of a cam and roller system, and large disc brakes were used all round. The 541R is powered by a low revving four litre straight six engine from the Austin Sheerline. The suspension system came from the Austin A70 with independant suspension by coil springs at the front and live axle with half-elliptic springs at the rear.
When tested by Autocar magazine in 1958 a 541R achieved a top speed of 127.5mph, the highest they had recorded for a four seater

This photograph was taken between 1974 and 1979 when all three were SNP MPs.
Margaret Ewing (nee Bain) was first elected as the SNP MP for East Dunbartonshire in October 1974, unseating a Conservative by just 22 votes, the smallest margin in the country. She lost this seat in the late 1970s to Labour, but returned to Parliament in 1987, as MP for Moray. She retained this seat until 2001 when she became the MSP for Moray. Winnie Ewing was first elected in the 1967 Hamilton by-election. She served as MP for Hamilton between and 1970. She served as MP for Moray and Nairn between February 1974 and 1979 unseating the then Conservative Secretary of State. She represented the Highlands and Islands served as an SNP MEP for between 1979 and 1999 and was MSP for the Highlands and Islands between 1999 and 2003. The good old number six. It stopped both in front of our hotel, and very near Lange Erlen, the wonderful little park on the German border that stole my heart. Here it is, coming and going, on Gerbergasse, near Marktplatz. As for the architecture, half of Basel looked like this, an absolute glut of grand old stone buildings with steep roofs pitched against the snow. Not that we saw any in July, but this nifty video may give some idea of the sights (and sounds) of a tram ride on a somewhat more wintery day.
Works with and desktop computer. That being said - works as well as might be expected with any desktop computer.
