Two Bowens Esprit 500 W/S monolights--PC sync to the key light with the fill slave automatically triggered upon fire. On the left of the phone, at about an 8 o'clock angle, I shot through a white umbrella which was about the same level as the subject. The second (fill) light was higher up and maybe 6 feet away at a 5 o'clock angle, shooting into an umbrella facing a wall. The fill bounce off the wall diffused it pretty well overall and allowed me to bring out the gross, vintage-looking, olive-green background a bit more. I still have no idea what I'm doing, but I like the results of this experiment.

Close view of the wooden drawers in the Muniment or Evidence Room at Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire. The drawers of c.1690 housed papers from the Hardwick estate, and all are numbered and of different size, some still have the original leather tassells.
Did you forget to call me?
Or baby, did you lose my number?
Don't tell me that you're sorry
Whose covers are you sleeping under?
I was just across the street
And I just wanted to reach out
Thinking we could get together
And I didn't mean to stalk you
But I saw that guy you talked to
Everybody knows I'm jealous
And I know it's not all about me
I know that you don't come easily
But you reach for the stars if it's worth it
If you're gonna act like we're just friends
Throw away the messages I sent
If you're playing a game, then it's working
Did you forget to call me?
Or baby, did you lose my number?
(Did you lose my number?)
Don't tell me that you're sorry
Whose covers are you sleeping under?
You know I just want someone that I can love
Someone that I can love
Someone that I can love
Can love
Did you forget to call me?
Or baby, did you lose my number?

I arrived later than intended in Brighton, Sussex, UK. The light was going and it was rather grey and rain was in the air. Missed the opportunity for the seagulls and lacked a little inspiration on the pier.....Then the sky opened fleetingly and I secured 2 or 3 shots. This is my favourite due to the cloud forming the number 5 to the right of the shot.....I have hesitated in putting this up because the people I have asked for a critique on this shot haven’t noticed the number.....Leaving the title looking a little challenging 😁.....The funny thing is that is all I can see now!
Anyway! Thanks for visiting.
You have a good weekend.....

I was surprised to see this common starling at Lake Meyer Park today. I can usually count the number of times I see a starling in the park on one hand during any given year. Although many people consider the common/European starling a nuisance, and I guess they can be in certain settings, I think they are a beautiful bird. This colorful starling is close to being in full breeding plumage already.

The buoys for navigation have such a varied appearance. Sometimes they appear as bizarre as in this case.

“ There are things that drift away like our endless, numbered days …
There are sailing ships that pass all our bodies in the grass …
There are names across the sea, only now I do believe … “

PASSING AFTERNOON by IRON and WINE
ENDLESS NUMBERED DAYS
Sea foam, sea glass
seashells, treasures
collecting driftwood
at our leisure
pebbles, stones
Mother of Pearl
amber nuggets
memories whirl
moonlight, sunshine
bare-foot walks
paddle, swim and
endless talk
smiles and laughter
escapades
secrets kept and
a promise made
waves and cries
of seabirds high
fishing boats
left high and dry
row of huts
and two, nine, seven
find the key
to seventh heaven …

Barrio de Santa Cruz, or could be del Carmen…after a while they all look similar, especially after a night on the sauce… 🍷
The relatively balmy weather we've had this January means that there is no ice on the Mississippi, and thus the eagles are spread out. We saw quite a few of them-- well over 50-- but they all along a number of miles of the river, rather than being concentrated at the locks. They also were able to fish the entire width of the river, which resulted in more distant fishing shots like this one. The 'Eagle Days' event in Clarksville Missouri was packed with people, though.

Europe, France, PACA, Bouches du Rhône, Marseille, La Joliette, Cathédrale de Marseille (slightly cut from B&T).
The Saint-Marie-Majeure (dite La Major) (1893) cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Marseille. Its eclectic style is Byzantine-Roman Revival. The architects were Léon Vaudoyer and Henri-Jacques Espérandieu. The edifice is 142 meters (469 ft) long, and the main cupola is 70 meters (231 ft) high. With a capacity of 3,000 seats, it is one of the largest cathedrals in France.
Its polychromatic façade has alternating bands of ‘Pierre de Cassis’ and green marble.
Espérandieu (a Protestant architect) was also the leading architect of the ND de La Garde (also Byzantine - Roman Revival styled) here.
He was called in to replace Léon Vaudroyer, who died in 1872 after a 20-year involvement with the design and build of the cathedral. In the 19th century cathedral building was a very lengthy process, not as long as that of the ones of the middleages though.
This is number 28 of the Churches album and 15 of Marseille.
