Day 8 - Travel to NOLA - February 2024

Founded in 1993, the Krewe of Orpheus takes its name from Zeus and Calliope?s musically inclined son. Founding members include musician/actor Harry Connick, Jr. and his father, Harry Connick, Sr., former New Orleans district attorney. With their first parade in 1994, the Krewe of 700 members established itself as a super Krewe. They were the first super Krewe to allow both male and female riders.

The krewe?s throws include a number of sought-after items, including light-up Orpheus medallion beads, three different types of doubloons - Captain's, Krewe, & Musical Legends, four-foot-long stuffed dragons, and their prized throw is a custom decorated tambourine.

Notable floats include the Dolly Trolley, the horse-drawn bus that was used in the opening of Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand. There?s also the Smoking Mary, an eight-unit float that looks like a steam locomotive. And everyone loves the three-unit, 139-foot Orpheus Leviathan Float, the first Carnival float to use extensive fiber optic lighting.

Over the years, Orpheus monarchs have included Fats Domino, Quentin Tarantino, Sandra Bullock, Glenn Close, Whoopi Goldberg, Stevie Wonder, Laurence Fishburne, Forrest Whitaker, Brad Paisley, Anne Rice and Toby Keith.

Unlike many Carnival events which are members-only, visitors are allowed to buy tickets to the black-tie Orpheuscapade, a musical extravaganza after the parade in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

I feel so like *Pimp* using the *F* word and all. LOL - For the Musically Challenged group! Do I look smart in my glasses? I think so. :D

Who gives a fuck about an oxford comma?

I've seen those english dramas too

They're cruel

So if there's any other way

To spell the word

It's fine with me, with me

Why would you speak to me that way

Especially when I always said that I

Haven't got the words for you

All your diction dripping with disdain

Through the pain

I always tell the truth

Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma

Who gives a fuck about an oxford comma?

I climbed to dharamsala too, I did

I met the highest lama

His accent sounded fine

To me, to me

Check your handbook

It's no trick

Take the chapstick

Put it on your lips

Crack a smile

Adjust my tie

Know your boyfriend, unlike other guys

Why would you lie about how much coal you have?

Why would you lie about something dumb like that?

Why would you lie about anything at all?

First the window, then it's to the wall

Lil' Jon, he always tells the truth

Check your passport

It's no trick

Take the chapstick

Put it on your lips

Crack your smile

Adjust my tie

Know your butler, unlike other guys

Why would you lie about how much coal you have?

Why would you lie about something dumb like that?

Why would you lie about anything at all?

First the window, then it's through the wall

Why would you tape my conversations?

Show your paintings

At the united nations

I'm not sure yet about life,

about love,

but in time,

im sure....

i'll be fine.

Not Sure Yet - Andy Lange

these feelings have been rolling around me all weekend. i have no idea what's going on, but today has been one of the most shittiest since the beginning of 2010. not only did i have a panic attack during finance class, i was conned into staying later for class, and some other stuff involving a guy friend. I feel a whole lot of anger, bruised feelings, and i just feel like a girl. i hate feeling like a girl! i feel weak! not like its a bad thing i just feel...helpless. but I can control what i do, i can control what bothers me and how they affect me.

I wish i could stay angry, life would be much easier. but... angry brings frowns.

i know, in time I will be fine. but today I realized that I'm just another girl, with feelings, and im not invincible, and you know. i think it's okay to finally hurt. it's just life. I DO miss having someone there for me, to hold me, to tell me it's going to be okay. someone to love me. i think the healing process just began.

great now i have to thank my guy friend.

I just learned the hard news that Gran Turismo Sport, the game that inspired me visually, musically, and spiritually since 2018, will shut down its server in the next week. The game that gave me an eye for beauty and the chance to fall in love with chicago-born music genre that is called House music. In fact, it’s an understatement to call it a video game, it is in every sense an art piece made with the most tasteful of ingredients and masterfully blended by craftsmen at Polyphony Digital. Without it, I wouldn’t have picked up a camera, have MINI cooper as my first car, or even participated in motorcross and road rally event. To this day, I still put up its soundtrack on my road trips, it constantly reminds me of the pure joy and freedom of roaming this planet. I don’t think I can finish writing this post without shedding my tears, but all good things must come to an end, except that it will live on forever in my memories. And I will keep going, to the Le Mans and Nurburgring.

Going through my music collection this evening I found this wonderful track called 'Not About Love' by Fiona Apple. The track reminds me of Regina Spektor, in that it is as creative musically and with wonderfully imaginative lyrics. I was happy to find her. The perfect ending to an already beautiful day.

"Not About Love"

The early cars

Already are

Drawing deep breaths past my door

And last night's phrases

Sick with lack of basis

Are still writhing on my floor

And it doesn't seem fair

That your wicked words should work

In holding me down

No, it doesn't seem right

To take information

Given at close range

For the gag

And the bind

And the ammunition round

Conversation once colored by esteem

Became diologue as a diagram of a play for blood

Took a vacation, my palate got clean

Now I could taste your agenda

While you're spitting your cud

And it doesn't make sense

I should fall for the kingcraft of a meritless crown

No, it doesn't seem right

To take information

Given at close range

For the gag

And the bind

And the ammunition round

This is not about love

'Cause I am not in love

In fact I can't stop falling out

This is not about love

'Cause I am not in love

In fact I can't stop falling out

I miss that stupid ache

What is this posture

I have to stare at

That's what he said when I'm sittin' up straight

Change the name of the game 'cause he lost

And he knew he was wrong but he knew it too late

But I'm not being fair

'Cause I chose to listen to that filthy mouth

But I'd like to choose right

Take all the things that I've said that he stole

Put 'em in a sack

Swing 'em over my shoulder

Turn on my heels

Step out of this sight

Try to live in a lovelier light

This is not about love

'Cause I am not in love

In fact I can't stop falling out

This is not about love

'Cause I am not in love

In fact i can't stop falling out

I miss that stupid ache

(Fiona Apple)

So I stopped myself mid thought the other day because I caught myself thinking "I just need to get through this" I thought to myself - life will always present some type of challenge and I am going to be waiting my life away.

I do really hope that at some point it will be easier to breathe but in the meantime "let it be"

I need to learn a life lesson from this song!

Oh but hey - since it is a snow day and I worked from home - I was able to sneak a picture in.

Let it Be - The Beatles

When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,

speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,

speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.

Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree,

there will be an answer, let it be.

For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,

there will be an answer. let it be.

Let it be, let it be, .....

And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me,

shine until tomorrow, let it be.

I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me,

speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, .....

Roxy Music are an English art rock group formed in 1971 by Bryan Ferry, who became the group's lead vocalist and chief songwriter. The other members are Phil Manzanera (guitar), Andy Mackay (saxophone and oboe) and Paul Thompson (drums and percussion). Former members include Brian Eno (synthesizer and "treatments"), and Eddie Jobson (synthesizer and violin). Although the band took a break from group activities in 1983, they reunited for a concert tour in 2001, and have toured together intermittently since that time.

Roxy Music attained popular and critical success in the UK, Europe and Australia during the 1970s and early 1980s, beginning with their debut album, Roxy Music (1972).[1] The band was highly influential, as leading proponents of the more experimental, musically sophisticated element of glam, as well as a significant influence on early English punk music. They also provided a model for many New Wave acts and the experimental electronic groups of the early 1980s. The group is distinguished by their visual and musical sophistication and their preoccupation with style and glamour.[2] Ferry and co-founding member Eno have also had influential solo careers, the latter becoming one of the most significant record producers and collaborators of the late 20th century.

Rolling Stone magazine ranked Roxy Music #98 on its "The Immortals – 100 The Greatest Artists of All Time" list.[3]

A new studio album, which would have been their ninth, began recording in 2005. It would have been Roxy's first record with Brian Eno since 1973, who wrote two songs for it as well as played keyboards.[4] However, Bryan Ferry eventually confirmed that material from these sessions would be released as a Ferry solo album, with Eno playing on "a couple of tracks,"[5] and that he doesn't think they'll record as Roxy Music again.[6] Subsequently, this was confirmed by the announcement of a solo Bryan Ferry album, entitled Olympia.

And if I look awfully grainy on the left, it's because I only did one shot since the bench I ended up using today was in a mall (specifically McAllister Square in Greenville). I had to be ninja-like in my HBM'ing so as to not get peculiar looks or have Paul Blart, Mall Cop come after me. heh.

The one picture ended up being from quite a distance away since I set my camera on something and did the 10-second dash, so I tried to make up for it by upping the sharpness & contrast. Still think it looks kinda cool.

CAMP BESTIVAL 2013

Camp Bestival has its niche firmly carved out as the premier child-friendly but musically-credible event on the summer calendar, the festival in Dorset has also managed to retain a boutique ambience whilst having a capacity of some 30,000. That said, when it feels like over half of your crowd are in the five to ten age-bracket, maybe you can squeeze a lot more little bodies into the available space.

And it’s a fact that there are children everywhere. Children in pushchairs, children in custom-pimped trollies, children up flagpoles, children weighed down by stacks of 10p deposit pint cups. There are kids crammed against the fence around the jousting arena, kids making clay models and kids sprouting tails. There’s youngsters learning to dance, being entertained by the blue coats and hanging upside-down from the giant Hi De Hi letters on the hill above the Big Top.

Indeed it almost seems to have been an entry-requirement that you brought a toddler or pre-teen with you to get through the gates.

There were still some people without young families in tow this year – but they were in a considerable minority. Fundamentally, Camp Bestival takes the concept of a festival kids’ zone to the limits and still doesn't leave the ‘adult entertainment’ as an afterthought.

Jesse Davidson sheds skin and bares all on Lizard Boy.

Approaching his writing from a traditional singer-songwriter position, Davidson’s songs have always held an electronic, ambient edge. And recent months have seen him close in on this genre spanning style with the release of his sophomore EP, Lizard Boy. A five track offering which shifts and transcends both musically and lyrically. Still grounded in the narrative lyric that is the domain of the singer-songwriter, the architecture of the songs have an experimental feel in their sparsity and instrumentation.

Full of lingering, wobbling synths and punctuated chords set against vaguely industrial beats, Lizard Boy echoes a similar ambience to outfits like Boards Of Canada. Though the term sometimes applied to those same artists, “IDM” (Intelligent Dance Music) has been criticised as derogatory in the past, taken at face value it feels like a good fit for Davidson’s style. Working with the elements that feed dance music; synths, beats and electronica, the whole exudes a tangible sense of a smart, considered approach in both the writing and the execution.

Opening with the slow groove Laika, the track perfectly introduces the delicate and skilful soundscapes that Davidson proves himself so adept at. A skittering drum beat injects the groove into the dreamy, synth heavy song. Double tracked vocals up the ambience, and diving straight in on this first track, finishes on a blissed out and jazz inspired drum solo. In his own words, Davidson describes the track as “A bloody jam”, and while it certainly has that vibe, it’s possibly the best executed jam I’ve come across recently.

Following track, Darling, dives a little deeper into experimentation. Started with the idea of writing a track entirely around a bass line, Davidson was interested in how “A lack of guitars and keys and other instruments like that could change the composition of a song and create a lot of space for the vocals.” These elements appear later, but judiciously placed as accents rather than key melodies.

One aspect of Davidson’s composition that resonates much more with electronica than folk, is the detached feel within his songs. However Lagoon stands out with a much more affecting sensibility; dipping his vocal deeper on the refrain, the chorus line “I know you’re trying to change too much right now” becomes an accent outside of the ambience. Final track Will You Find Me touches on some of this same emotion, with Davidson describing it as “The cheesy ballad with a big release at the end.”

But he still maintains that he’s “Quite fond of it though, despite its cheesiness and simple structure and what-not.” Cheesy is not exactly the term that comes to mind as a stripped back electric guitar strums through with a subdued, almost grunge-like feel. And the release at the end has more of a blissed out build, with swirling cosmic effects and big beats to usher in an almost psychedelic feel.

Having recorded the EP in London, at Lightship 95 – which bears a striking resemblance to The Boat That Rocked – perhaps the sixties influence permeated Will You Find Me? With it’s cavernous studios inside the boat’s interior, and set on the tidal Thames, there is an ebb and flow to Lizard Boy that echoes the inevitable rise and fall of the studios.

For Jesse Davidson it seems that age dragged in its clever counterpart pretty early on, as Lizard Boy holds a maturity and confidence well beyond his years. You can also catch him at this year’s Falls Festival in Byron Bay.

The Au Pairs were a post-punk band who formed in Birmingham in 1979. Musically they were very similar to bands such as Ludus, Gang of Four and the Delta 5. That is, the rhythm section was tight and funky (obvious influences were James Brown and Funkadelic), but the guitars were light and "scratchy" (like Subway Sect). All these bands shared a strongly left wing social outlook, but the Au Pairs stood out due to their frontwoman, Lesley Woods, being an outspoken feminist and lesbian. The band were greatly influential in this respect on the riot grrrl movement a decade later. Music historian Gillian G. Gaar noted in her history of women in rock that the band mingled male and female musicians in a revolutionary collaborative way as part of its outspoken explorations of sexual politics.[1]

Their first album Playing with a Different Sex is considered a post-punk classic with strong, sarcastic songs like "It's Obvious" and "We're So Cool" taking a dry look at gender relations. Other songs, such as "Armagh" with its refrain,"we don't torture" took a pro-republican look at the then ongoing "Troubles" in Northern Ireland, which caused some controversy at the time.

The band's second album, Sense and Sensuality, showed an even greater influence of jazz, soul, funk and disco on the band's sound, but was less well received. The band broke up in 1983 just before they were about to go into the studio to record an album with producer Steve Lillywhite. Woods formed an all woman band called the Darlings in the late '80s, but then left the music industry. She now works as a lawyer in London. Guitarist Paul Foad remains an active musician, playing with Andy Hamilton and the Blue Notes, a Jamaican jazz band, and teaching guitar in and around Birmingham. He has also published a guitar technique book, co-written with Stuart Ritchie, titled The Caged Guitarist (2000). Bass player Jane Munro works as an alternative therapist (aromatherapy, reflexology and Indian head massage) in Birmingham. Pete Hammond also remains an active musician and teaches percussion in Birmingham.

The band performed in 1980 for the cult classic concert film Urgh! A Music War.

Happy valentine's day!

So the picture's taken on valentine's day, but I actually did stay up that night! I suspect it probably doesn't count when the picture is taken a month ago, so I promise to do something this week as well.

I have trouble sleeping sometimes, and that night was one of them. I suddenly got fascinated by my candles, the way the candle-grease got torn apart, how the light shines on the grease and makes it even more beautiful, and how candles in general always give me a warm and safe feeling. I kept staring at them for at least 5 more minutes. That somehow seemed appropriate, with it being valentine's day and all...

There's only 1 thing 2 do, 3 words 4 you.

I love you.

I didn't have a single idea what to do for this week's musically inspired shot. Good thing I'm not doing a 365, hm? :))

This is the only thing I could come up with, had a couple of other ideas, but they wouldn't work at this kind of weather. Maybe in the spring :)

I know this is lame. I'm sorry :(

I'm not sure if I like my photostream that much these days. But I'm not sure how I want it either. Oh well...

Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been

Lives in a dream

Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door

Who is it for?

All the lonely people

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people

Where do they all belong?

-The Beatles, Eleanor Rigby (for Musically Challenged)

I'm sick. Officially sick. I woke up this morning feeling weak and sweating bullets. I spent most of my Snow Day blowing my nose and sipping soup (posole, yummy). I can't leave my house because the snow plows have forgotten we exist. I did, however, manage to delight in Jhumpa Lahiri's Pulitzer Prize winning Interpreter of Maladies.

Tamara was a musically gifted girl and holder of the Heart Stone. She trained three baby magical animals - Cleo (a unicorn), Sugar (a dragon), and Spike (a panther). In the second season, she got her own zebracorn named Shadowsong.

Rolling Stones~ You can't always get what you want

I saw her today at the reception

A glass of wine in her hand

I knew she would meet her connection

At her feet was her footloose man

No, you can't always get what you want

You can't always get what you want

You can't always get what you want

But if you try sometime you find

You get what you need

We went down to the demonstration

To get your fair share of abuse

Singing, "We're gonna vent our frustration

If we don't we're gonna blow a 50-amp fuse"

You can't always get what you want

You can't always get what you want

You can't always get what you want

But if you try sometimes well you just might find

You get what you need

I went down to the Chelsea drugstore

To get your prescription filled

I was standing in line with Mr. Jimmy

And man, did he look pretty ill

We decided that we would have a soda

My favorite flavor, cherry red

I sung my song to Mr. Jimmy

Yeah, and he said one word to me, and that was "dead"

I said to him

You can't always get what you want

You can't always get what you want

You can't always get what you want

But if you try sometimes you just might find

You get what you need

You get what you need--yeah, oh baby

I saw her today at the reception

In her glass was a bleeding man

She was practiced at the art of deception

Well I could tell by her blood-stained hands

You can't always get what you want

You can't always get what you want

You can't always get what you want

But if you try sometimes you just might find

You just might find

You get what you need

Born in Spain, Xavier Cugat's family moved to Havana, Cuba, when he was three. Always musically inclined, he packed up and moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a cartoonist for the Los Angeles Times newspaper during the day and labored to put together a band at night. After a few years of playing smaller clubs in the L.A. area, Cugat finally got his break when he and his band secured a job at the prestigious Coconut Grove nightclub in 1928. His style of music caught on, and Cugat was instrumental in bringing Latin music to the attention of the US public. In the '30s and '40s he was nicknamed "The Rumba King" because of his popularization of that Latin dance. In Cugat's film appearances he usually played himself, even if the character had a name other than Xavier Cugat, and he and his band appeared in several memorable MGM musicals in the '40s. After suffering a stroke in 1971, Xavier Cugat retired.

Cugat was married five times. His first marriage was to Rita Montaner (1918–1920); his second was to Carmen Castillo (1929–1944); his third to Lorraine Allen (1947–52); his fourth to singer Abbe Lane (1952–64); and his fifth to Spanish guitarist and comic actress Charo (1966–78).

Abbe Lane was born on December 14, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA as Abigail Francine Lassman. She is an actress, known for Surprising Suzie (1953), Donatella (1956) and The Bachelor (1955). She has been married to Perry Leff since December 16, 1964. She was previously married to Xavier Cugat.

She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6381 Hollywood Boulevard for her contribution to television.

For the musically challenged group

If I Ever Loved You

Baby, I was not the one

I guess you know that now

But I kept you real distracted for a while.

I look back and nothing much

Ever comes to mind

Sometimes I can picture half a smile

We were thick as thieves

Hung on each others sleeves

Kissing all the time

But if I ever loved you shouldn..t I be crying

Shouldn't I be cracking up

And drinking all the time?

Yeah,if I ever loved you how come I feel alright

How come the nights are so easy

And the mornings look so bright?

I try to figure what has gone

I seem to look the same

Maybe there's a tightness around my eyes

Sometimes the evening comes

I think I miss someone

And then I realise

That if I ever loved you shouldn..t I be crying

Shouldn't I be cracking up

And drinking all the time?

Yeah,if I ever loved you how come I feel alright

How come the nights are so easy

And the mornings look so bright?

Love it can make your world

Bring you alive

But I wasn't dead before

So baby, you ain't hard to survive.

Maybe I was not the one

But I had to try

And in the end there's no such thing

As wasted time

I was the interim

between nothingness and him

So how is that a crime?

But if I ever loved you shouldn't I be crying

Shouldn't I be cracking up

And drinking all the time?

Yeah,if I ever loved you how come I feel alright

How come the nights are so easy

And the mornings look so bright?

For musically talented Barossa Valley local, Sam Brittain, story-telling is exactly that. Since releasing his debut LP ‘Our Shining Skin’ on June 1, 2012, the path to success for the gifted and independent musician has transformed into a never-ending road. First picking up a guitar at the age of three and additionally turning his hand to the piano and drums,

In 2013, Sam is an unstoppable, roots, folk and blues artist, reminiscent of sounds such as Damien Rice, Glen Hansard and Ryan Adams. Sam supported close friend and musical influence, Mike Rosenberg (Passenger) at Adelaide-based Fowlers Live, as an integral part of Mike’s ‘All the Little Lights’ album tour, a highlight of Sam’s career to date.

The recording of ‘Our Shining Skin’ saw Sam and his band work endlessly with the talented Barossa-based Jamie Blechynden of Stella Studios and VJ productions. Supported by BJ Barker (drums), Steve Flemming (bass) and Glen Wagland (engineer), tracking the backbone of all 12 songs took a mere two days to complete. ‘Our Shining Skin’ quickly earned impressive reviews and was labelled as a ‘formidable and wide spreading resume’ for Sam (Timber and Steel, August, 2012).

Kicking off an Australian tour, Sam officially released the highly anticipated album at a sold out show on June 9, 2012, held at the Chateau’s acoustically brilliant ‘Long Room’. In June and July 2012, Sam crossed the country, delighting crowds and building his fan base in Melbourne, Hobart, Darwin and Adelaide, including an unforgettable sold out show with Sam’s full band at the prominent Adelaide venue, the Promethean Theatre on September 27, 2012.

Marking the beginning of what’s set to be a milestone year and following a hugely successful first tour, Sam’s lead single ‘Bruises’ hit #1 on the Triple J Unearthed Roots Chart on New Year’s Eve, 2012/13, where it consolidated its lead for a consecutive four weeks, peaking at #6 in the Overall Top 100.

2013 saw Sam embark on a 16 date tour once again supporting new age folk music legend Mike Rosenberg (Passenger).

By the end of 2011 Zali Krishna was musically bankrupt. The last twenty odd years that had seen dabblings with electronica, post-pub-rock, proggazing, modal skiffle and the like had left his paltry offerings badly bent out of shape. The more pretentious observers would throw around hybridity, melange, pastiche and other apologia in his defence, but even they were having to admit that none of these critical Band Aids would prevent the balloon from imminent deflation.

And so it was with Any Colour You Like As Long As It's Beige that things came to what Michael Flanders called a pretty underpass. The monotonous fusionesque scampering beat that drives the title track into ever expanding circles of rock star automobile jingle hell could not cover up the fact that Krishna was launching this defence from his back foot. He brings his melodic progression, if it can be called that, up into areas of the fretboard which he claimed, "I was blissfully unaware of until a few years ago." Quite where he gets off ditching this compositional device into an urban thunderstorm after five minutes, we can only speculate.

Krishna's deployment of shorter suites for his projects than the traditional length for the 21st Century album is a curious matter in itself. Whether he felt that the post-physical sonic product in a era where, to quote Marx, "all that is solid melts into air", was now entirely fluid, or whether he simply felt that any project should find its own natural extension, we cannot know for certain. Commentators who pressed Krishna on this particular question were reputedly subjected to vilification at best, or otherwise what might constitute grievous bodily harm.

Where the second track opens with short wave ephemera the listener is given a sporadic dance of nods and winks by the title Monorail to Vacarres to suggest that we are now re-entering the territory of his late 20th Century offerings, such as the 90 minute long opus, Monorail. Krishna's arrogance becomes inexcusable in suggesting that the audience might even be aware of this obscure cassette release, which was at the very least reasonably substantial in length if nothing else. Moreover we must assume that this track was an outtake from the box marked "best left alone". We can imagine no higher praise.

By the time we reach the second and longer half of the mini-album we are brought up short by his dense, ill-advised supermarket mysticism. Disembodied voices in Urdu reciting the Apocalypse of St John could not be more laughable, nor could the hyperplexed, open-tuned durge be more uninspiring, if it had been drenched in layer upon layer of muddy reverb. And of course that is exactly what is served up here under the giddy title of Hikikomori. If Krishna expects us to make ahistorical connexions between the bedroom hermits of contemporary Japan and the exiled monastic of Patmos he clearly has another thing coming.

And if we hadn't felt that Krishna had been overstepping the mark from the get go, the double-reed sweetened ten minute closer, Krawattenmuffeljugendstil, should be the signal that all is not well with this project. The oboe playing in earlier projects has to be considered as ill-advised at the very least, and the Dorian "pastoralism" (Krishna's phrase) opening out into muddled pagan Mixolydian/Ionian major modalities should have been given the cattle bolt as early as 1972. That we find it dancing lazily like some hypertrophied Riverdance of the astral realms in 2011 should make the listener sit up and write a stern letter to The Times.

All in all we should be thankful that this set of recordings are not any longer. Krishna's motives for releasing this are obscure, as are his reasons for resurrecting the name The Entropy Circus which was first used in about 1989 and formally given the heave ho in 2007. Whether at this time he considered himself one or legion, in the end the mini-album known to us as Any Colour You Like As Long As It's Beige cannot be considered as anything but the final defeat of this particular thermodynamic regime.
