How do you think I'm gonna get along without you when you're gone?
You took me for everything that I had and kicked me out on my own
Are you happy? Are you satisfied?
How long can you stand the heat?
Out of the doorway the bullets rip to the sound of the beat (Look out)

Another One Bites the Dust - Queen
a storm is brewing in my life and I'm about ready to run for cover - hence the song being such a great fit.
yes I am very happy with this photo.
Special thanks to Grace for the amazing photo. Another awesome collaboration.
Only a handful of people could make me climb through trees, bushes, on jagged rocks, shells and lizard, crab and yucky infested areas for photography - barefooted.
Grace is one of them. I confronted my fear for photography, once again, but i only do it for certain people.
it was worth the pain. :) the photo is amazing.
gym today was awesome. i cant wait to go back with Grace. God I've missed her.
Go check her out shes an amazing budding photographer!

After years of searching, a new re-issue of the highly influential album by Brian Eno and David Byrne.
-----------------------------------------
My Life in the Bush of Ghosts is the first collaborative album by Brian Eno and David Byrne, released in February 1981. The album borrows its title from Amos Tutuola's 1954 novel of the same name, and musically integrates sampled vocals and found sounds, African and Middle Eastern rhythms, and electronic music techniques.[4] Recorded by Eno and Byrne prior to their work on Talking Head's fourth album Remain in Light (1980), sample clearance issues delayed its release until several months after the latter.
While it initially received mixed reviews, My Life is now widely regarded as a high point in the discographies of Eno and Byrne.[5][6] AllMusic critic John Bush describes it as a "pioneering work for countless styles connected to electronics, ambience and Third World music".[3] The extensive use of sampling on the album is widely considered ground-breaking and innovative, though its actual influence on the sample-based music genres that later emerged continues to be debated.[7][8] Pitchfork listed it as the 21st best album of the 1980s, while Slant Magazine listed the album at No. 83 on its list of the "Best Albums of 1980s".
Eno and Byrne first worked together while collaborating on More Songs About Buildings and Food, the 1978 album by Byrne's band Talking Heads. My Life was primarily recorded during a break between touring for Fear of Music (1979) and the recording of Remain in Light (1980), subsequent Talking Heads albums also produced by Eno, but the release was delayed while legal rights were sought for the large number of samples used throughout the album.[10] Eno described the album as a "vision of a psychedelic Africa."[11]
The "found objects" credited to Eno and Byrne were common objects used mostly as percussion. In the notes for the 2006 expanded edition of the album, Byrne writes that they would often use a normal drum kit, but with a cardboard box replacing the bass drum, or a frying pan replacing the snare drum; this would blend the familiar drum sound with unusual percussive noises.[full citation needed] Rather than conventional pop or rock singing, most of the vocals are sampled from other sources, such as commercial recordings of Arabic singers, radio disc jockeys, and an exorcist. Musicians had previously used similar sampling techniques, but critic Dave Simpson declares it had never before been used "to such cataclysmic effect" as on My Life.[12]
In 2001, Q magazine asked Eno whether he and Byrne had invented sampling. He replied:
“No, there was already a history of it. People such as Holger Czukay had made experiments using IBM Dictaphones and short-wave radios and so on. The difference was, I suppose, that I decided to make it the lead vocal on the album My Life in the Bush of Ghosts[13]”
The album was recorded entirely with analog technology, before the advent of digital sequencing and MIDI. The sampled voices were synchronized with the instrumental tracks via trial and error, a practice that was often frustrating, but which also produced several happy accidents.[citation needed]
According to Byrne’s 2006 sleeve notes, neither he nor Eno had read Tutuola’s novel before the album was recorded, but felt the title apt:
“At some point during this African obsession [during the recording] we became aware of Amos Tutuola’s books, and the title of one—My Life in the Bush of Ghosts—seemed to encapsulate what this record was about. We hadn’t yet read this particular book (his The Palm-Wine Drinkard was more easily available), but the title was perfect, so that became the name of the record.
This month there is still one ME departure per hour most perhaps all hours from 05.20 through to 22.20 mondays to fridays that I can hear but not see from home
Oh, there goes Mr. Humbug, there goes Mr. Grim.
If they gave a prize for bein mean the winner would be him.
Oh, Scroogey loves his money cause he thinks it gives him power,
If he became a flavor you can bet he would be sour.
Yuck, Even the vegetables don't like him.

Founded in 1993, the Krewe of Orpheus takes its name from the musically-inclined son of Zeus and Calliope. Founding members included Harry Connick, both the junior and senior.
In New Orleans, the krewe established themselves as a superkrewe with their first parade in 1994, which rolled with 700 riders. They were the first super Krewe to allow both male and female riders.
The Krewe's throws include a number of popular items including emblem beads, stuffed animals, signature beads, light-up Orpheus medallion beads, cups, three different types of doubloons, and 4-foot-long stuffed dragons.
They have a number of notable floats including the Dolly Trolley, the horse-drawn bus that was used in the opening of Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand, the Smoking Mary which is a six unit float that looks like a steam locomotive, a Trojan horse and the Orpheus Leviathan Float, which is a three unit, 139-foot float, and the first Carnival float to use extensive fiber optic lighting.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Fats Domino wass the honorary grand marshall for 2014. His eldest son, Antoine Domino III, rode in the parade and perform his 85 year old father's music.
In addition to Fats Domino, Quentin Tarantino reigned as the krewe's celebrity monarch.

Sorry, just didn't care for them musically. I liked how weird they were, though.
(The girl shaking her head back and forth directly in front of me at the very end of the video really reminds me of Megan Mullally on Children's Hospital.)
My apologies for the distorted sound, but in my defense, this is a camera I got for $20 at a yard sale.

BACKSTORY: OMG! Another totally amazing show! We got to hang out with Nic Endo afterwards! We bummed a cigarette from some other guy, and then she tried to offer us one. That is to say, she is very nice! AE drove us again this year. Greg Z and Akira also went. Clint asked Nic Endo if she still carries floppy discs (of course!). People (including Clint) got on the stage again this year, and Carolyn saw an audience member accidently bump into Alec Empire and push him off the stage. He seemed ok, though. Nobody else seemed to notice that happen except Carolyn.

"Leaves in the River - by Sea Wolf
I met a girl on Halloween
When she was lost, and I was drunk
And it was dark and cold out when we left
And as we walked the rain started
The leaves softened with every step
And all around us people slept alone with their dreams
The wind came down from up the planes
And blew the leaves all through the streets
I wondered how far leaves could really fly
Would they rest in suburb yards
Or make it to the city
Or would they end up in the river just to float away
She pointed to a small brick house
And said it was where she grew up
The lights were out, she asked if we could stop for awhile
Her hair was still just getting wet
The water running down her neck
Collecting in the handprint in cement beneath her feet
Apparently there'd been a death
Someone close and nothing left
Because she hadn't left him in the end
I saw her blush when I asked
If she always talked like that
She said it only happened when she drank
And later on I felt her hand
Slipping into my cold fist
She promised me a kiss as soon as we got home
Her costume had begun to tear
She ran ahead and turned to me
Her laughter echoed through the empty streets

Tamara was a musically gifted girl and holder of the Heart Stone. She trained three baby magical animals - Cleo (a unicorn), Sugar (a dragon), and Spike (a panther). In the second season, she got her own zebracorn named Shadowsong.
It's just a life story, so there's no climax. No more new territory, so pull away the IMAX. In the slot that you sliced through the scene there was no shyness. In the plot that you passed through your teeth there was no pity. No fade in: film begins on a kid in the big city. And no cut to a costly parade that's for him only. No dissolve to a sliver of grey - that's his new lady, where she glows just like grain on the flickering pane of some great movie. (Hey, I'd watch it.)

I am incredibly happy about this week's Musically Challenged picks, which include Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, The Decemberists and of course, Okkervil River. I am in the market for new music, and Sound Opinions provided me with helpful suggestions thanks to their Best of 2009 show last evening. My musical wish list now includes Phoenix, Lily Allen, St. Vincent, and She & Him. Flickr friend recommendations always welcome!

They weren't jamming just musically, but completely jammed the street traffic as well :-)
---
The street performance went on at the main city square at first. There were two main stages, plus three or four tiny single-person-stages erected for it, and the play kept switching between them, forcing spectators to shuffle around every few minutes.
It was a real killer of a show to photograph, since I had to push through the crowd every time [using my monopod as a truncheon - just kidding ;) ] to get any shot at all - missing half of it in the process...
Besides, they were splashing with water all the time (yeah, the performance was called H2O for a good reason), so I didn't risk putting the external flash on the camera.
And then, in the middle of it, the performers suddenly embarked a boat (yes - that bright thing on the photo), towed by a really weird steaming and smoking three-wheel vehicle and drove from the city square down the street, followed by the marching band on stilts and the rest of actors on rollerblades.
The spectators had no choice but to follow as well, and that made it even harder to get any decent shots (esp. since I had the flash still safely tucked away in my backpack - grrrrr!).
So I struggled with the backpack with one hand, camera and monopod in the other, while running down the street, zigzagging between performers and spectators, stopping every now and then to click a shot or two.
At the end of this street, they turned down towards the river, where the last part of the performance took place - with lots of squirting water and splashing around, accompanied by a dolphin playing an accordion (oh, yes!) - and the grand finale of launching the boat downstream.

I got two miles till he makes bail
And if I'm right we're headed straight for hell
I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door and light a cigarette
He wants a fight well now he's got one
He ain't seen me crazy yet
Slapped my face and he shook me like a rag doll
Don't that sound like a real man
I'm gonna show him what a little girl's made of
Gun powder and lead
Well it's half past ten
Another six pack in
I can feel the rumble like the cold black wind
He pulls in the drive
Gravel flies
He don't know what's waitin' here this time
Hey I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door and light a cigarette
He wants a fight well now he's got one
And he ain't seen me crazy yet

You've got to be kidding me!
We had fif-teen de-grees cen-ti-grade last weekend!
How can it be snowing again??
I mean, don't get me wrong, I love snow and all, but we're in MARCH! How can it be sooo warm on one day, that even I, who's always cold, leave the apartment in a t-shirt, and then 4 days later it SNOWS??
Man :(
It took me half an hour to walk home from school today, the roads were soo damn slippery and wet and ugly. Normally I need 10 minutes.
Sorry. I don't usually get mad at the weather like this, lol. But after the amazing weather last Sunday I really can't see snow anymore!! :))
Anyway, this is my way of telling the sky to stop crying. Rain and snow. If you ask me, the sky cried enough for this whole year. Humph.
So much for the smell of spring, haha :)

Today has been a really rough day. I feel so out of sync with the world. I challenged myself to reading soulpancake - the entire book in one day, actually - 5 hours.
It was very thought provoking and made me extremely emotional.
It caused me to think outside my comfort zone and reevaluate my life and what it means to be here.
I realized I've been a horrible and selfish person these past few semesters. So absorbed in my own little world, I never took as much time as I should figuring out what was going on in the world outside of the "me me me" world I cultivated for myself.
I'm really excited and ready for the Project Soul Pancake year long challenge.
I was feeling really depressed today, and when i left work found myself at the cemetery. I know this sounds like the creepiest thing, but I walked, without a phone, without facebook, without anything but me and my camera. I visited gravestones and left pinecones (they were the only things I found around).
I stumbled upon a little boy, Guisto was his last name, I dont remember his first. He died in 1987 at the age of 4. He had no flowers. no ornaments, no sign of visitors. He was forgotten by his parents. I left him two pine cones. I was too chicken to sit there and spill what was bothering me to a total dead stranger.
I cant talk to anyone. I've become so private. this needs to change. I hope soulpancake can do that for me.

Image: The proms finished with a spectacular fireworks display.
More than a thousand people enjoyed the first Imjin Proms on Saturday.
The concert and outdoor festival event raised money for three military service charity associations with entertainment ranging from a musically choreographed Spitfire display to children's activities.
"The weather's held off and it's been a fantastic evening, with a fantastic range of music, with parachutists, and airplanes, and it's all just been going very well from my point of view," said Simon Footer, the main event coordinator from the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.
Imjin Barracks, a Royal Air Force base that served for decades, has been home since 2010 to the event's other main host, NATO's Allied Rapid Reaction Corps
Lt.Gen. Tim Evans, ARRC commander, welcomed the crowd with gratitude, wishing everyone a splendid evening, and thanking Aramark and other sponsors. The general envisioned the event more than a year ago to be a way for Imjin and other nearby military communities to share a memorable evening with Gloucestershire.
Sharing the experience of the Spitfire display brought many emotions to the diverse crowd. Presenter Peter Dickson said he was moved by the arial display, as that plane holds a special place in British hearts, answering a call in the 1940's with young pilots when "our backs were really against the wall, it delivered the effect we needed." Remembering them and the sacrifice of so many is important and one theme for the evening, he continued. The whole night has "surpassed expectation."
"I've painted many of them as a kid, but that's the first time I've ever seen one," said presenter Lewis Macleod, in a sincere moment backstage when he wasn't keeping the crowd laughing with his voice impressions between acts. "It was really beautiful."
The plane flew to classical music played by The Band of the Royal Air Force College, who also lit up the evening with a finale and fireworks around 10 pm. Other music included a pop-music cover set by the Adjutant Generals Corps' Band who got people up and dancing from their picnic blankets and chairs. The crowd also witnessed the precision of The Royal Marines Band and 19th Regimental Royal Artillery Pipes and Drums.
Children representing their school's talent, the Innsworth Military Wives Choir, and many others performed during the evening to the local crowd. The event succeeded in opening the gates of Imjin to the community and there is a hope to see more of these kinds of events in future.

Last night I went out to Ultra with my friend MJ and Heidi. I had a fun time even if I was designated driver, drunk friend babysitter, and 3am breakfast buddy. I had a good time. :)
I didnt get home and pass out until 4am, in which I had to wake up again at 8am to get ready to go to Sarasota with Burnt Umber to shoot architecture and the Ringling Museum. (That also meant I had a great time)
then we proceeded to look for eagles that did not appear for photo opps. :|
then i had to quickly high-tail it out once I got home to go shoot a maternity session with Danielle. :)
