I'm such an outdoor type of girl, but you wouldn't know it looking at my 365. Most of my photos for this project were taken at night after the kids are sleeping. Not really the original plan, but I have made it work I guess. This is not really what I had envisioned, but it's time for me to go to bed. Musically challenged shot planned for tomorrow. yay!

Musically Challenged

Evanescence - Bring Me To Life

how can you see into my eyes like open doors

leading you down into my core

where I’ve become so numb without a soul my spirit sleeping somewhere cold

until you find it there and lead it back home

(Wake me up)

Wake me up inside

(I can’t wake up)

Wake me up inside

(Save me)

call my name and save me from the dark

(Wake me up)

bid my blood to run

(I can’t wake up)

before I come undone

(Save me)

save me from the nothing I’ve become

now that I know what I’m without

you can't just leave me

breathe into me and make me real

bring me to life

(Wake me up)

Wake me up inside

(I can’t wake up)

Wake me up inside

(Save me)

call my name and save me from the dark

(Wake me up)

bid my blood to run

(I can’t wake up)

before I come undone

(Save me)

save me from the nothing I’ve become

Bring me to life

(I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside)

Bring me to life

frozen inside without your touch without your love darling only you are the life among the dead

all this time I can't believe I couldn't see

kept in the dark but you were there in front of me

I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems

got to open my eyes to everything

without a thought without a voice without a soul

don't let me die here

there must be something more

bring me to life

(Wake me up)

Wake me up inside

(I can’t wake up)

Wake me up inside

(Save me)

call my name and save me from the dark

(Wake me up)

bid my blood to run

(I can’t wake up)

before I come undone

(Save me)

save me from the nothing I’ve become

(Bring me to life)

I’ve been living a lie, there’s nothing inside

Roxy Music are an English art rock group formed in 1971 by Bryan Ferry, who became the group's lead vocalist and chief songwriter. The other members are Phil Manzanera (guitar), Andy Mackay (saxophone and oboe) and Paul Thompson (drums and percussion). Former members include Brian Eno (synthesizer and "treatments"), and Eddie Jobson (synthesizer and violin). Although the band took a break from group activities in 1983, they reunited for a concert tour in 2001, and have toured together intermittently since that time.

They also provided a model for many New Wave acts and the experimental electronic groups of the early 1980s. The group is distinguished by their visual and musical sophistication and their preoccupation with style and glamour.[2] Ferry and co-founding member Eno have also had influential solo careers, the latter becoming one of the most significant record producers and collaborators of the late 20th century.

Rolling Stone magazine ranked Roxy Music #98 on its "The Immortals – 100 The Greatest Artists of All Time" list.[3]

A new studio album, which would have been their ninth, began recording in 2005. It would have been Roxy's first record with Brian Eno since 1973, who wrote two songs for it as well as played keyboards.[4] However, Bryan Ferry eventually confirmed that material from these sessions would be released as a Ferry solo album, with Eno playing on "a couple of tracks,"[5] and that he doesn't think they'll record as Roxy Music again.[6] Subsequently, this was confirmed by the announcement of a solo Bryan Ferry album, entitled Olympia.

Founded in 1993, the Krewe of Orpheus takes its name from the musically-inclined son of Zeus and Calliope. Founding members included Harry Connick, both the junior and senior.

In New Orleans, the krewe established themselves as a superkrewe with their first parade in 1994, which rolled with 700 riders. They were the first super Krewe to allow both male and female riders.

The Krewe's throws include a number of popular items including emblem beads, stuffed animals, signature beads, light-up Orpheus medallion beads, cups, three different types of doubloons, and 4-foot-long stuffed dragons.

They have a number of notable floats including the Dolly Trolley, the horse-drawn bus that was used in the opening of Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand, the Smoking Mary which is a six unit float that looks like a steam locomotive, a Trojan horse and the Orpheus Leviathan Float, which is a three unit, 139-foot float, and the first Carnival float to use extensive fiber optic lighting.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Fats Domino wass the honorary grand marshall for 2014. His eldest son, Antoine Domino III, rode in the parade and perform his 85 year old father's music.

In addition to Fats Domino, Quentin Tarantino reigned as the krewe's celebrity monarch.

365 days of me

TRP: Bang Bang

*June Is For Jumping*

It's beautiful to break

Let your false flag drift away

Show me your face

You can fall apart on me

Because I'll be here as long as it takes

A remedy to steady your midnight shakes

I'll stay here as long as it takes...

- Spill Canvas, As Long As It Takes

Far from out of the woods, but it's amazing what a difference replacing dread and anxiety with hope and optimism can do. My mom is talking about taking me away for a girls' weekend in early September. So right now I'm kind of setting my sights on that. Because by then, other things will be moving in such a good direction too. And honestly, I could use a few days away from my life right now.

Saw the knives out, turned my back

Heard the train coming, stayed out on the track

In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream

I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings

I've done all the dumb things

Caught the fever, heard the tune

Thought I loved her, hung my heart on the moon

Started howling, made no sense

Thought my friends would rush to my defence

people in my regular life know me as Anna. If they know me as a photographer in real life, they soon start calling me Zee or Zee Anna. Somewhere between my online presence and my life merged. I'm okay with that. Except when your then-bf started referring to you as Zee, that got a little weird. Zee is me. I am Zee, but I was Anna first.

Hearts of Olden Glory

~ Runrig

There's thunder clouds

Round the hometown bay

As I walk out

In the rain

Through the sepia showers

And the photoflood days

I caught a fleeting glimpse

Of life

And though the water's

Black as night

The colours of Scotland

Leave you young inside

There's a vision

Coming soon

Through the faith

That cleans your wound

Hearts of olden glory

Will be renewed

Down the lens

Where the headlands stand

I feel a healing

Through this land

A cross for a people

Like wind through your hands

There must be a place

Under the sun

Where hearts of olden glory

Grow young

I touch no one and no one touches me.

On the road again -

Just can't wait to get on the road again.

The life I love is making music with my friends

And I can't wait to get on the road again.

On the road again -

Goin' places that I've never been.

Seein' things that I may never see again

And I can't wait to get on the road again.

On the road again -

Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway

We're the best of friends.

Insisting that the world keep turning our way

And our way is...

On the road again.

Just can't wait to get on the road again.

Sidiki Diabaté performing with Lamomali as many of the audience hold up their phones, at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris last month. This is from the first of two gigs at this venue.

Last summer, I photographed Lamomali at WOMAD and loved them musically and photographically.

Fortunately, they liked my pics. 😎

I asked nicely if I could photograph the final two gigs of their tour (at a 20,000 capacity arena) and received permission. Woo-Hoo!

Lamomali is a single album collaboration (rather than a band), between -M-, Toumani and Siddiki Diabaté and Fatoumata Diawara.

Week Twenty One:

Who knew candles could be so flammable. They're only little after all. It's not like from from little things big things grow. Well apart from trees. And children. Oh and rumours too. They things always start small until one day you're the head of an international drugs cartel with mansions in the most delectable locations in South America and I only said I was going to the shop to buy a bottle of coke. Isn't it strange how they take on a life of their own.

Ah but that a bad example of it. Mostly because it's completely and uttlerly and totally fabricated. Yes there is more fabric in that than in the underwear I'll be wearing when I'm 60 and need them big enough to reach all the way up to my chest. Course when I'm 80 they'll be all the way up to my neck. Just think if I make it to 100 I'll have to replace my belt with a headband.

Now I think it's the perfect time to head into the middle of a dream. I've lost my shirt, though I've not pawned my rings but I'm pretty sure I've done some dumb things.

Paul Kelly - Dumb Things

For the Musically Challenged group.

For Musically challenged- the song is by Marjorie Fair - Empty Room. Hadn't heard it before but I love this song!

The photo was taken on the third consecutive attempt to wake up at dawn for photos. My snooze button addiction subsided enough for me to make it to the pond by 7. :) And this was me trying to get my remote working...

Marjorie Fair - Empty Room

I'm so tired of learning to talk

Building fences on the wall

In this state, I shall not remain

I don't want to go, but if I die young

Fill my empty room with the sun

Fill my empty room with the sun

This Doesn't matter like it did before

This doesn't matter much anymore

Change my mind or help me to try

Im afraid and I'm not satisfied

In this state I shall not remain

I don't want to go, but if I die young

Fill my empty room with the sun

Fill my empty room with the sun

This doesn't matter like it did before

This doesn't matter much anymore

This doesn't matter like it did before

This doesn't matter much anymore

For musically talented Barossa Valley local, Sam Brittain, story-telling is exactly that. Since releasing his debut LP ‘Our Shining Skin’ on June 1, 2012, the path to success for the gifted and independent musician has transformed into a never-ending road. First picking up a guitar at the age of three and additionally turning his hand to the piano and drums,

In 2013, Sam is an unstoppable, roots, folk and blues artist, reminiscent of sounds such as Damien Rice, Glen Hansard and Ryan Adams. Sam supported close friend and musical influence, Mike Rosenberg (Passenger) at Adelaide-based Fowlers Live, as an integral part of Mike’s ‘All the Little Lights’ album tour, a highlight of Sam’s career to date.

The recording of ‘Our Shining Skin’ saw Sam and his band work endlessly with the talented Barossa-based Jamie Blechynden of Stella Studios and VJ productions. Supported by BJ Barker (drums), Steve Flemming (bass) and Glen Wagland (engineer), tracking the backbone of all 12 songs took a mere two days to complete. ‘Our Shining Skin’ quickly earned impressive reviews and was labelled as a ‘formidable and wide spreading resume’ for Sam (Timber and Steel, August, 2012).

Kicking off an Australian tour, Sam officially released the highly anticipated album at a sold out show on June 9, 2012, held at the Chateau’s acoustically brilliant ‘Long Room’. In June and July 2012, Sam crossed the country, delighting crowds and building his fan base in Melbourne, Hobart, Darwin and Adelaide, including an unforgettable sold out show with Sam’s full band at the prominent Adelaide venue, the Promethean Theatre on September 27, 2012.

Marking the beginning of what’s set to be a milestone year and following a hugely successful first tour, Sam’s lead single ‘Bruises’ hit #1 on the Triple J Unearthed Roots Chart on New Year’s Eve, 2012/13, where it consolidated its lead for a consecutive four weeks, peaking at #6 in the Overall Top 100.

2013 saw Sam embark on a 16 date tour once again supporting new age folk music legend Mike Rosenberg (Passenger).

Has a record ever had such an effect on you, that you remember the first time you heard the first note of the first song on the album?

I know it is cheesy, but this album is like that for me..... I remember, to this day, almost 20 years later, putting that CD in the CD player and hearing for the first time what would be a huge influence on me musically.... Everything I hear I compare to this band and nothing measures up....

First few lines of lyrics:

God money i'll do anything for you.

God money just tell me what you want me to.

God money nail me up against the wall.

God money don't want everything he wants it all.

No you can't take it

No you can't take that away from me

No you can't take it

No you can't take that away from me

Head like a hole.

Black as your soul.

I'd rather die than give you control.

Head like a hole.

Black as your soul.

I'd rather die than give you control.

Bow down before the one you serve.

You're going to get what you deserve.

Newsboys-- Born Again.

This week is it my turn to choose songs for the group Musically Challenged. Please go join the group and post your photos inspired by my selections on this thread!

Below are my selections.

----------------------------------------

Some of these songs are highly significant to me, and others are simply songs that I enjoy. They are listed here in no particular order.

Born Again -- Newsboys

Song

Lyrics

Newsboys are by far one of my favorite bands, and this song, the title track of their most recent album, is excellent.

Symphonies -- Dan Black

Song

Lyrics

This song was introduced to me just a week or two ago about a very good friend. I don't typically like this style, but I do like this song.

Hanging by a Moment -- Lifehouse

Song

Lyrics

I've found myself listening to this song more and more lately...several lines really strike a deep chord right now.

Heart Still Beats -- Brave Saint Saturn

Song

Song

I could very easily have posted nothing but Brave Saint Saturn songs for this week. If you have not ever heard of this band, you are missing out.

I do not like most Christian music. The music is often B-quality (if you're lucky) and the lyrics are about half an inch deep. BSS is not like that. They do not shy away from difficult topics--death, pain, apathy, frustration, turning away from God. It's real music for real people who don't spend every minute of their life praising Jesus and feeling blessed. There is certainly an element of praise and blessing in their music, but at times it is almost completely overshadowed by life's daunting situations. It reminds me of some of David's psalms.

Water Music Suite in D/G Major -- Handel

Song

Somebody has probably done this before, but I would be very interested in seeing how some of you interpret music with no lyrics. Handel is my Dad's favorite artist and hearing this music always reminds me of him.

Pepper -- Butthole Surfers

Song

Lyrics

Total, complete nonsense. I'm curious to see what you come up with.

Starlings -- Brave Saint Saturn

Song

Lyrics

My older sister Jessica died when she was two days old. Every time I hear this song I think of her.

"Raise their souls up to the skies--Why must helpless creatures die?"

Young -- Hollywood Undead

Song

Lyrics

I played this song in my 8th grade ESL classes recently and they enjoyed it quite a bit, so I figured I'd include it on the list.

His Cheese Burger -- Mr. Lunt

Song

Lyrics

Mr. Lunt rocks. End of discussion.

'Til I Collapse --Eminem

Song

Lyrics

Love the chorus.

Weeping -- Josh Groban

Song (click on the first song)

Lyrics

I am a huge Josh Groban fan, and this is the song that got me interested in his music.

Ain't No Rest For The Wicked -- Cage the Elephant

Song

Lyrics

This is a very well written song. The music video is also very well done.

Pig -- Weezer

Song

Lyrics

Weezer is awesome. Actually, you can really use any Weezer song you want to and act like it was on the list...they're all good.

Love you -- Jack Ingram

Song

Lyrics

While this is a funny, light-hearted song, I feel it actually contains a deep truth. Love is shown at that moment when you want to scream "F*** YOU!" but instead choose to say "love you."

Turn the Page -- Metallica

Song

Lyrics

There is no way you can post a list like this without including Metallica. Easily one of the most awesome bands ever. And this is one of their best songs. Pure incredibleness. And what better way to end the list than pure incredibleness?

Einstein's down on the beach staring into the sand

Cause everything he believes in is shattered

What you fear in the night in the day comes to call anyway-ay

We all get burned as:

One more sun comes sliding down the sky

One more shadow leans against the wall

The world begins to disappear

The worst things come from inside here

Einstein On the Beach by Counting Crows

I have been feeling sick for the past few days due to lack of sleep. Donnie texted me today to reschedule our stuff exchange to saturday. eh... I hope i feel half-way decent after a good night's rest to tackle that awkwardness.

I'm actually going to go soak myself in a hot bath and read some new books Nick recommend I read :)

the beach was pretty today. this is one of my favorite places to watch the sunset, North Gulf Access. I went by myself, I needed to learn to be alone and by myself. I have a deep fear of being alone, and not needed. this was a refreshing sunset.

Musically Challenged: Einstein On the Beach by Counting Crows

Two weeks in NOLA for the mardi gras 2017Founded in 1993, the Krewe of Orpheus takes its name from the musically-inclined son of Zeus and Calliope. They have a number of notable floats including the Dolly Trolley, the horse-drawn bus that was used in the opening of Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand, the Smoking Mary which is a six unit float that looks like a steam locomotive, a Trojan horse and the Orpheus Leviathan Float, which is a three unit, 139-foot float, and the first Carnival float to use extensive fiber optic lighting.Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Fats Domino wass the honorary grand marshall for 2014. His eldest son, Antoine Domino III, rode in the parade and perform his 85 year old father's music. In addition to Fats Domino, Quentin Tarantino reigned as the krewe's celebrity monarch.

Roxy Music attained popular and critical success in the UK, Europe and Australia during the 1970s and early 1980s, beginning with their debut album, Roxy Music (1972).[1] The band was highly influential, as leading proponents of the more experimental, musically sophisticated element of glam, as well as a significant influence on early English punk music.

Day 8 - Travel to NOLA - February 2024

Founded in 1993, the Krewe of Orpheus takes its name from Zeus and Calliope?s musically inclined son. Founding members include musician/actor Harry Connick, Jr. and his father, Harry Connick, Sr., former New Orleans district attorney. With their first parade in 1994, the Krewe of 700 members established itself as a super Krewe. They were the first super Krewe to allow both male and female riders.

The krewe?s throws include a number of sought-after items, including light-up Orpheus medallion beads, three different types of doubloons - Captain's, Krewe, & Musical Legends, four-foot-long stuffed dragons, and their prized throw is a custom decorated tambourine.

Notable floats include the Dolly Trolley, the horse-drawn bus that was used in the opening of Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand. There?s also the Smoking Mary, an eight-unit float that looks like a steam locomotive. And everyone loves the three-unit, 139-foot Orpheus Leviathan Float, the first Carnival float to use extensive fiber optic lighting.

Over the years, Orpheus monarchs have included Fats Domino, Quentin Tarantino, Sandra Bullock, Glenn Close, Whoopi Goldberg, Stevie Wonder, Laurence Fishburne, Forrest Whitaker, Brad Paisley, Anne Rice and Toby Keith.

Unlike many Carnival events which are members-only, visitors are allowed to buy tickets to the black-tie Orpheuscapade, a musical extravaganza after the parade in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
