This is the chicken fried round steak dinner from Lambert's Cafe in Sikeston Missouri. Lambert's Cafe is "home of the throwed rolls" and is quite famous. Not going to Lambert's while in Sikeston seemed like going to Orlando and not going to Disney World. IN other words, all kinds of wrong.
No I didn't eat all of that food. I would have been sick.
My wife and I had Christmas dinner with a family from our church. We had a nice spread of food including fried chicken, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, collards, sweet potatoes, asparagus/brussel sprout casserole, cookies, ice cream cake, chocolate chip cake and lemon dessert.

November 11, 2017 - Chicken dinner at Boston Market. My wife and I were in Fayetteville, NC today. For lunch, we ate rotisserie chicken at Boston Market.
made from the ad hoc at home cookbook. the recipe builds up layers of flavour and breaks down the texture of the short ribs with a two-day braising/cooling scheme. wow! not sure i have ever experienced such meaty intensity of flavour.
The food that won our contest were these cheesy mashed potatoes in bacon cups. Very yummy, and very dangerous.

Beer-Battered Seitan with Greenbean Mashed Potatoes and Lemon
SOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD!!!
Beer Battered Seitan
1 12oz bottle beer
1 to 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 heaping teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 pound seitan, cut into strips about 1/2 in thick, boiled seitan works best
canola oil (or preferred oil of your choice)
Pour the beer in a large bowl then whisk in the first 1 cup of flour. It should resemble a nice thick pancake batter if it’s really thin then add the 1/2 cup of flour slowly until you have a nice thick batter. Stir in the salt, garlic powder, mustard powder and chili powder until combined. You don’t want to over stir the batter. Add the strips of seitan and toss until they are fully coated with the batter.
Fill a large frying pan about 1/2 an inch with canola oil and heat on high heat. When heated carefully place battered seitan into the oil, lower the flame to medium-high and fry for a few minutes on each side until golden brown. Have a plate covered with paper towels or a clean paper bag to help absorb some of the excess oil.
Serve with your favorite dipping sauce or give everyone 1/2 a lemon to squeeze onto their beer battered seitan!
These are actually cupcakes that are made to look like a tv dinner, and i think they look pretty good. They are for my friend sam (tdrae)'s birthday which is tmrw (:
Happy Birthday Girl!

i just had to try this... as last time i was at the stinking rose, i had the prime rib which was frakkin awesome. but i didn't want to get the same thing so naturally i went with the food item i've never eaten. a wabbit. bugs bunny. this one's for you elmer fudd! hahahaha... so... how did it taste... it looks like chicken here. sort of tastes like chicken... just not quite chicken... forgive me, i'm not the most articulate guy. so yeah, it looked like chicken breast, but it wasn't as dry. it was good though as was their mash. can't say much about their food presentation though... a bit haphazard and not great for food photography. kind of a bummer... not to mention the horrible lighting (in terms of food photography), they had these red light bulbs... if i ever return to the stinking rose, i'm bringing a regular light bulb!

mini mango turkey meatloaf with a hard-boiled quail egg in the center on a bed of plain mashed potatoes with steamed asparagus. The container holds more mango ketchup - it's fantastic over the potatoes.
I made a big batch of my favorite (and only) meatloaf recipe for my bento freezer stash this weekend. recipe is here: www.chefallens.com/recipes2.cfm?id=1029
My vegan Thanksgiving/Thanksliving pizza, with garlic and chive mashed potatoes, gravy, hickory smoked Tofurky deli slices, carrots, sweet corn, and green beans, all on a veggie broth-infused crust. Served with sides of stuffing, mashed potatoes (leftovers from the pizza!), mixed veggies (also leftovers), cranberry sauce - and more gravy, of course!

It was a cold day and I wanted to make some "comfort food". Since I have all of that ground beef, I thought that a shepherd's pie would be just the ticket.
This is my second foray into the world of ground beef. I've now used roughly 6% of the 70+ pounds of ground beef...
Kel is a big fan of shepherd's pie and she said that she really enjoyed it. The kids wolfed through it. Keira didn't even pick out the mushrooms (just the other day she told me that in her religion, mushrooms are a tool of the devil...)
I would've preferred more "kick", but that's always my complaint about my cooking - and it's gonna be that way until the kids get older and my sister-in-law moves out...
