The conversation was about comfort foods done in muffin or cupcake form. I mentioned meatloaf, Sandee did all this. Each item, including the chocolate pudding and sour mix, was homemade. The tomato bacon jelly, also homemade earlier this year, has become the condiment of the season.

First Week's Theme: Food
I wanted to try to be as creative as possible while still sticking to the intent of the theme. After the theme was announced I decided that I wanted to do a shot a la Dreier. Kyle Dreier, 45, of Nashville was spotlighted in the January 2012 issue of Popular Photography. His "Food Pairings" got my mind thinking. This was all that my mind could pull out in the time allotted; I am still struggling with making my photos come out as I envision them in my head.
Also, I hate trying to clean mirrors or glass. No matter how much I clean there is still dust and fibers everywhere.
The more and more I look at this photo I am not pleased with it anymore at all. I like the new shots of "spaghetti." This shot just seems dull and boring now. There is a lack of color, but that is inherent in the ingredients.
In Finnish, that would be "hirvipyöryköitä kermakastikkeessa ja perunamuhennosta". They were pretty good, regardless of language.
I'm still stuffed...and I just realized I forgot to dish up a helping of the leftover dressing. Doh.
Actually, he does like my cooking, but this photo was so great I had to copy it.

Day 244
This was a lot harder to take than it looks. This table is quite small and wobbly, and I wasn't sure if it would hold my weight. But it did, luckily. I'm just glad my husband didn't walk in while I was doing this...lol.
Today's random fact: I found my lost bracelet!! Yay!

With smashed spuds, mushroom/onion gravy and canned beans.. This is the standard "Blue Plate Special."
Mashed potatoes, pesto sauce and I forget which herb I used. Maybe it's dill. Sour cream fills the space.
Fred Howland uses Everything2 to explain exactly what kinda party this is, and why we need mashed potatoes
Garden Peas, steamed carrots, homemade mashed potatoes, wild mushroom gravy, and savory Dinosaur Pie....Mmmmmmm delicious! I love having lunch at our friend Josephines house. Having "Sunday Roast" with friends and family on Sunday afternoon is one of the great British traditions I love most. Since our friend is Jewish, we couldn't have it on Sunday though....so we had it on Saturday! Yay!!!!! : )
My wife worked hard to prepare a great Thanksgiving feast! We had turkey, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, corn casserole, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, and homemade crescent rolls.
Just a basic dinner while I get reaccustomed to photographing my food: tofu breaded with seasoned flour, cornmeal, and nutritional yeast, then pan-seared; mashed potatoes with kale on the side. Not the most phytonutrient-intense meal, I'll admit, but sometimes you just want something fried, with something mushy on the side. :-)
Jacques Pepin's Broiled Ham Steaks; skinny mashed potatoes, with steamed carrots; sauteed zucchini (in garlic infused olive oil and sprinkled with thyme); satsuma orange with blueberry
I really do make fantastic mashed potatoes, but I don't follow a recipe and I don't even always use a particular type of potato. But I do usually leave the skins on and I always use lots of butter along with just the right amount of milk, salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Tonight's mashed potatoes were made with organic Yukon Gold potatoes and they were served with a Crock Pot garlic chicken dish from a recent issue of Everyday Food.

A remarkably satisfying meal, when it's cold out and one is hungry. Please note the world's worst utensil, a flimsy, plastic master-of-none

Cod, mashed potatoes, peas, broccoli, carrots and a tomatoe.
This fish dinner was very very tasteful.
In Iceland they really know how to prepare an excellent fishmeal.
Sirloin steak marinated in garlic and rosemary, mashed potatoes and little cakes made with zucchini, yellow squash and herbs. Delicious!
This was my dinner from the Wedding: Roasted Chicken with Sauteed Onions, Steamed Asparagus, and Mashed Potatoes.
I couldn't eat the potatoes for obvious reasons, :P but the chicken, onions and asparagus were very, very good! ^o^
The other dinner choices were steak (I don't eat red meat) and some sort of eggplant pasta roll (that had a tons of cheese in it) so I went with the chicken, thankfully.
American Civil War cure-all devised by army surgeon James Henry Salisbury, M.D. in 1888: should be eaten three times a day with lots of hot water.
Sounds a bit much to me. This modern recipe is full of good and tasty stuff: sticks to the ribs and can be enjoyed frequently but not perpetually [[;-)

Finally broke down and got a ricer and decided it was too hard to use and then Alex took over and saved the day. The end.
