I just recieved my new Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 Tripod with a 322RCS Joystick Head! I sold my Rebel XTi on eBay to get this. I thought about saving the funds for an additional lens instead, but I had this recurring dream involving a cheap tripod, a falling camera and a sobbing photographer.
The carbon fiber feels extremely light. I would think it was light plastic if I did not know better. I have heard good things about it.
Looking forward to trying out the head. I think it would be great for fireworks.

The Modopocket is attached to your camera with the red screw. The Modopocket easily fits in your pocket.
Pulling on the tab reveals the mounting screw. The black strap keeps the legs of the Modopocket from opening up all the way.

Several weeks ago, my Dad found the above item at a garage sale for $1. (Yes, one dollar.) It's a Manfrotto 3265 grip action ball head with quick release plate, which retails for $100 (on Amazon) or up to $130 (at Calumet). He wasn't even sure what it was, but decided it was worth more than a dollar because of its weight (1.7 lbs.) and solid construction.
After looking it up and finding out how much it normally sells for, he was pleased with his bargain and gave it to me during our recent trip to Oklahoma.
Unfortunately, it's broken -- squeezing the grip doesn't have any effect on the tightness or looseness of the grip action. I'm hoping I can repair it myself, though I've been warned there are powerful springs inside.

Searching for a slightly larger replacement for my current Timbuk2 Small Snoop, I stumbled upon this fairly recent Manfrotto shoulder bag called the Bumblebee M-10. The Snoop has served me well, but I wanted a top zip opening to facilitate changing lenses rather than having to deal with the bag's front flap. Changing lenses with the Snoop on my shoulder was inconvenient and sometimes precarious with the flap in the way. The Bumblebee can accommodate a Nikon D810 with a Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 G attached, as well as several other lenses, It is also tall enough to accommodate a Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 unattached.
The Snoop has tripod straps built in on the bag's bottom, but I found that they would loosen up while walking with the bag. The Bumblebee has monopod rigging built into the bag under the front flap that can accommodate a small travel tripod. It cinches up nice and tight. The front flap velcro is strong and "loud" but can be silenced with the built-in silencer. The Bumblebee can tote a 13 inch laptop, and has two stretch pockets on the sides (unlike the Snoop which has no external side pockets.)
The shoulder pad of the Bumblebee looks well padded. I will need to test how comfortable it is while carrying gear. I had to replace the uncomfortably thin Snoop shoulder pad with a Domke Mail Carrier shoulder pad.
Despite its shortcomings, the Snoop (sadly discontinued by Timbuk2) is a very capable and good looking bag. But I think the Bumblebee is superior in many ways. It will replace my beloved Snoop.
