The whooper swan is similar in appearance to the Bewick's swan. It is larger, however, at a length of 140–165 cm and a wingspan of 205–275 cm. Weight typically is in the range of 7.4–14 kg with an average of 9.8–11.4 kg for males and 8.2–9.2 kg for females. The verified record mass was 15.5 kg for a wintering male from Denmark. It is considered to be amongst the heaviest flying birds.

Long exposure of Traffic Light Trails just after Sunset taken from Bridge over M50 ring Road at Ballinteer, Dublin, Ireland. The last time I took light trails at this bridge was January 2017.

I took the shot with my camera mounted on my Manfrotto 190 tripod. The tripod is great as it high enough to get above the Bridge Railings. I triggered the camera with a Hahnel wired trigger on Bulb mode so I was able to set the time. This photo was 66 seconds which allowed more traffic to pass through the scene. The Traffic light trails were a bit of hit and miss as traffic flows varied. It was also a calm night which is great for long exposures.

i nearly drove by this little island at crummock water this morning, im so glad i pulled over as a little mist crept in as the light started to hit the island.

Common greenshanks are brown in breeding plumage, and grey-brown in winter. When in water, they can appear very similar to marsh sandpipers but are distinguished by the shape of the lower bill which gives it an upturned appearance to the bill. They have long greenish legs and a long bill with a grey base. They show a white wedge on the back in flight. They are somewhat larger than the related common redshank. It´s a vagrant in Iceland and a new lifer for me species no. 155.

KIRKJUFELL (Church Mountain) on the West coast.

With the campervan parked up for the night , I grabbed my gear to photograph the area. It was a "Wow" moment when I noticed the stunning evening light on the mountain so legged it up the hill, over a bridge and down close to the falls.

Kirkjufell looking glorious.

The mallard is a medium-sized waterfowl species that is often slightly heavier than most other dabbling ducks. It is 50–65 cm long – of which the body makes up around two-thirds – has a wingspan of 81–98 cm and weighs 0.72–1.58 kg. Among standard measurements, the wing chord is 25.7 to 30.6 cm. The bill is 4.4 to 6.1 cm and the tarsus is 4.1 to 4.8 cm.

A seductive play of highlights and shadows and to increase the dynamics of the shadows a sheet of white paper is used as a reflector or better as a reflecting panel illuminated with an adjustable LED flashlight: then everything became abstract as Wassily Kandinsky says: “Form itself, even if completely abstract ... has its own inner sound.”

Visit to Cloghleagh, Manor Kilbride, Co. Wicklow, Ireland

In Cloghleagh there is a beautiful scenic location also known as Cloghleagh Cascade where the Shankill River flows down over a series of rapids. The Shankhill River runs into the River Liffey just below Cloghleagh.

It is a popular location for photographers, particularly in Autumn.

One more from the island, shot with the Samyang 14mm @f/8.0.

It's really cool walking on those overpasses. You can spend a whole day walking around the city from a building to overpass to another and to the next overpass and never touch the ground...
