My husband built this birdhouse back in Alaska to specific sizes for swallows. Chickadees used it two years in a row. It stood high on a metal pole away from interlopers.
Then we moved here, birdhouse included, and finally, tree swallows! Sounds like quite a few hungry ones inside.
Photo today by my husband, Howard Marsh, using his D4 and my 500mm f/4 on the Manfrotto monopod.
Some of the beautiful redwood trees with a little reflection going on in one of the streams that can be found at this location in the Tararua Forest Park.

My Pentax has been looking at me for a while to stretch its shutter, so this favourite tree not too far from home that I've photographed before is always worth the stop as the conditions are often varied here.
Sometimes there are sheep in the scene and other times the Ruahine ranges can be seen in the background. This time the bare tree and empty landscape seemed to encapsulate the mood of winter very nicely.

The Tilburgse Wandelbos and Warandebos is where the Siberian chipmunk walks around freely. And they're such cute creatures. Much smaller than our native Red squirrel.
At the closure of the Tilburg zoo in 1973 (competition became too big), when the animals were moved, a box with these chipmunks fell on the ground, which then burst open. It was not possible to catch them, so more than 45 years later Siberian chipmunks can still be found in the wild in Tilburg.
Because there is nothing I really know or understand.

The Badshahi Mosque (Punjabi: بادشاہی مسیت, romanized: Bādśā’ī Masīt; Urdu: بادشاہی مسجد, romanized: Bādśāhī Masjid) is a Mughal-era imperial mosque located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It was constructed between 1671 and 1673 during the rule of Aurangzeb, opposite of the Lahore Fort on the northern outskirts of the historic Walled City. It is widely considered to be one of the most iconic landmarks of the Punjab.
The sixth Mughal Emperor, Aurangzeb, chose Lahore as the site for his new mosque. Aurangzeb, unlike the previous emperors, was not a major patron of art and architecture and instead focused, during much of his reign, on various military conquests which added to the Mughal realm. The mosque was built to commemorate Aurangzeb's military campaigns in southern India, in particular against the Maratha ruler Shivaji. As a symbol of the mosque's importance, it was built directly across from the Lahore Fort and its Alamgiri Gate, which was concurrently built by Aurangzeb during construction of the mosque.
The mosque was commissioned in 1671, with construction overseen by the Emperor's foster brother, and Governor of Lahore, Muzaffar Hussein - also known by the name Fidai Khan Koka. After only two years of construction, the mosque was opened in 1673.

The deeper the blue becomes, the more strongly it calls man towards the infinite, awakening in him a desire for the pure and, finally, for the supernatural … The brighter it becomes, the more it loses its sound, until it turns into silent stillness and becomes white. (Wassily Kandinsky)

I love waterfalls, large ones, small ones, it doesn't matter and sometimes, as in this case, the smaller the better. Cauldron Falls in a wonderful series of small waterfalls that lie in the River Etive that nestles in the dark autumnal red and brown bracken of Rannoch Moor.
This photograph was taken at the end of a session with my clients in which I was demonstrating the effectiveness of using a wide angle lens, which is something that I am partial to using.
I hope you all like it and please feel free to SHARE if you wish.
