This is my final image from my trip to Iceland. The conclusion - Chasing the light to Kirkjufell.

I had been watching these cloud formations grow/change since 11:00, as I got closer to Kirkjufell / Kirkjufellsfoss at 16:00, they seemed to get even more dramatic.

This is the most dramatic cloud formation that I have ever seen and for it to appear at my last photographic location made for a worthwhile trip.

What a finale to the chase!

Note: I believe that this formation is an acrus/shelf cloud.

Nach langer Zeit klappte es endlich mal mit einem Bild der Rohrdommel. Ich bin schon oft unterwegs gewesen um Sie abzulichten,meist muste ich weit dafür fahren und dann eigentlich immer ohne vorzeigbaren Erfolg. Im Ruhrgebiet ist diese scheue Art ja nicht so stark vertreten. Dazu kommt noch das der Schilfbewohner sich meist im Dickkicht versteckt und nur langsam bewegt.. Seine Färbung ist optimal für seinen Lebensraum..Eine wirklich Interesante Art...

In around 1285, the Count of Holland Floris V (1254 – 1296) ordered the construction of a stone keep at a strategic location at the mouth of the river Vecht, the most important waterway to the diocese of Utrecht. In 1296, Floris V was kidnapped during a falcon hunt and later murdered by his own nobles and his castle was destroyed. From 1370, the original Muiderslot was restored and expanded with a residential wing facing the Zuiderzee. The castle was strengthened with earthen walls and bastions in 1576.

I captured this truly stunning scene on Friday during day two of my two day workshop. We arrived nice and early to give us time to look around and see what my clients would like to shoot. After giving them some advice on which part of this wonderful landscape I would photograph, we all set up and waited for the magic to happen.

There were some fantastic cloud structures which held in the gorgeous orange colours. The reflection of the sun on the water was a joy to witness and my clients were so happy to have experienced a beautiful sunrise. psssst. Don't tell anyone, so was I ;-)

I was going through old photos and found this shot.

An adult dunlin in breeding plumage shows the distinctive black belly which no other similar-sized wader possesses. The winter dunlin is basically grey above and white below. Juveniles are brown above with two whitish "V" shapes on the back. They usually have black marks on the flanks or belly and show a strong white wingbar in flight.

I wish you an ice cold Macro Monday. ;-)

Following an overnight wildcamp above castleton I stopped off at Ladybower on the route home to find her presented in all her glory....

Queen of natural beauty, Chilika, the largest brackish water lake in Asia covering an area of over 1,100 sq. km is a great attraction for the tourists for fishing, bird watching and boating. During Dec-Jan, Chilika becomes home to thousands of indigenous and migratory birds of many varieties from far and near - even from the distant Siberia. The fabulous beauty of Chilika which has inspired poets to sing its glory and which can be best enjoyed from Balugaon, Barkul, Rambha and Satpada must be seen to be believed. One can also have a glimpse of the lake from the moving trains and vehicles on the road near these places. The atmosphere is just serene and undisturbed amidst the blue expanse of water on one side and an evergreen range of hills on the other. Dotted with a host of islands with romantic names, a cruise in Chilika will be a life-long memory.

Kalijai Island, Honeymoon Island, Breakfast Island, Birds Island, Nalabana (Island of Reeds), Parikud Island, etc. are some of the important and interesting spots inside the lake.

Mandarin duck the adult male has a red bill, large white crescent above the eye and reddish face and "whiskers". The male's breast is purple with two vertical white bars, and the flanks ruddy, and he has two orange "sails" at the back (large feathers that stick up like boat sails). The female is similar to the female wood duck, with a white eye-ring and stripe running back from the eye, but is paler below, has a small white flank stripe, and a pale tip to its bill. Both the males and females have crests, but the purple crest is more pronounced on the male.
