This is an original brass keyhole of a walnut 19th century corner cupboard. To highlight a certain three-dimensionality, I practised a back lighting with a small LED torch from a rear slot of the lock. My contribution of the Macro Mondays theme of this week. HMM!

COMING BACK HOME

Colorful dreams shine a light

Opening joy within my heart

Music so lovely and bright

Insight as warm and wise as art

Naked truth shines so white

Gracing lives with a fresh start

Bringing back the wonder of love

Alive and alert, feelings so sure

Craving hope God sends from above

Keeping vigilant, a promise so pure

Happiness is alive and thriving, full

Opening up brave hearts to know

Memories chanting, by the handful

Enlightening sweet laughter to grow

An adult dunlin in breeding plumage shows the distinctive black belly which no other similar-sized wader possesses. The winter dunlin is basically grey above and white below. Juveniles are brown above with two whitish "V" shapes on the back. They usually have black marks on the flanks or belly and show a strong white wingbar in flight.

I love waterfalls, large ones, small ones, it doesn't matter and sometimes, as in this case, the smaller the better. Cauldron Falls in a wonderful series of small waterfalls that lie in the River Etive that nestles in the dark autumnal red and brown bracken of Rannoch Moor.

This photograph was taken at the end of a session with my clients in which I was demonstrating the effectiveness of using a wide angle lens, which is something that I am partial to using.

I hope you all like it and please feel free to SHARE if you wish.

Der Lannenbach im schneebedeckten Hunsrück

This is an image I made the last weekend before NZ went into full lockdown over the C-19 pandemic.

As so many people around the world are now in lockdown, photos are a great way to share the beauty of our world and hopefully remove just a little of the anxiety, fear and uncertainty that the world currently endures.

An abandoned cottage I've photographed before in the picturesque location of Beaconsfield. It was a perfect morning, early enough still for some soft side light, warm, without a breath of wind and the only noise was a herd of cows in the paddock behind me happily munching (and mooing) away!

The old cottage sat perfectly in its end of summer scene - the blue sky, the long dry grass and the golden fields in the valley beyond. No doubt landscape photography has many rewards!

Mandarin duck the adult male has a red bill, large white crescent above the eye and reddish face and "whiskers". The male's breast is purple with two vertical white bars, and the flanks ruddy, and he has two orange "sails" at the back (large feathers that stick up like boat sails). The female is similar to the female wood duck, with a white eye-ring and stripe running back from the eye, but is paler below, has a small white flank stripe, and a pale tip to its bill. Both the males and females have crests, but the purple crest is more pronounced on the male.

The whooper swan is similar in appearance to the Bewick's swan. It is larger, however, at a length of 140–165 cm and a wingspan of 205–275 cm. Weight typically is in the range of 7.4–14 kg with an average of 9.8–11.4 kg for males and 8.2–9.2 kg for females. The verified record mass was 15.5 kg for a wintering male from Denmark. It is considered to be amongst the heaviest flying birds.

I hope it is the correct bay, I was wandering around. I found amazing the way the Scottish coast goes from rocky cliffs to spots like this. The waves were singing a beautiful melody for the mind.

Stitched panorama with blended exposures. 16 pictures in two rows for the foreground at f8.0 1/6 sec ISO 100 and 16 pictures in two rows for the sky at f8.0 1/30 sec ISO 100. Each panorama was stitched together in Lightroom and then both were stacked and aligned in Photoshop. LAB curve manipulation to bring out the colors in each exposure and then masking to blend the two exposures together.

A revisit to an earlier shot from my Tasmania series - a beautiful place in the Mt Field National Park in Tasmania. I wasn't entirely happy with the original image and decided to process this into life which I'm much happier with!
