Special section of FM (Fifteen Minutes), the Friday magazine of The Harvard Crimson. Quarterly Arts supplement.
Campbell's - Campbell's Red Cow - Never mind the hellacious awfulness of the beef broth/tomato soup combo, Shelf Life is obsessed with the special phrase "Soup Mate" We don't get it. Is it a play on words? A reference to heat? What? Something to do with cows?
Better Cookin’ With Instant Numilk - Shelf Life tried to keep an open mind about this product, but we soon realized that (a) the ad seems reluctant to actually define the stuff, and (b) scarily, Numilk has shrunk the woman on the right to the size of a child.
Beef Flavour B-V: Make Sauce Bernaise Like Chasen’s - Classy place, and famous too, in its day. And the meal looks pretty good. However – is it just us? – the ideal couple at the table look like cardboard cut-outs. It’s Los Angeles, after all, so anything could be true.
Redesigned Lithonia Lighting's 800-page annual product catalog. The new design template was designed to hook into their PIMS (Product Information Management System) and dynamically extract image and copy data. All space usage was built to be flexible to accommodate different copy lengths and product sizes.
Shelf Life has to admire the chutzpah here, or the desperation. Jello powder sprinkled on slices of bananas? Talk about low rent - this is what Chucky eats, or kids who are raised in grow ops. Interestingly, 30 years ago people took this suggestion seriously
Underwood Deviled Ham – Flip Top Deviled Eggs - “Smiles of satisfaction” or uneasy backing off? Shelf Life usually loves deviled eggs, but we find these open-mouthed orbs kind of nightmarish.
Just threw this up because I always liked how the h2overview line worked. I swear, a strong headline gives me the same rush as a strong visual.

Had a real blast concepting/directing photography for this feature. Kudos to photographer, Fred Lopez for his fantastic work and to Josh Clark's photoshop skills.
Put Rich Old Time Flavour In New Style Desserts With Del Monte Raisins – Yet another ad that messes with our minds, where ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ become an Inception-style hall of mirrors. Er, scratch that: we were exaggerating. What we have here is a hollowed-out cupcake with some raisins extruded from the top.

AMP Excel Award (Silver): Feature Story Design
I designed this feature on silly real-life patents. Illustrator Josh McKible (mckibillo) did an excellent job visualizing a ridiculous patent on "Methods of Exercising a Cat."
