From sketch book to card

Machine embroidery on to hand printed fabric

Ready to quilt. This will be for the stealing game at the Christmas party with my quilty friends.

I have been working on a piece about anxiety in confinement for three months.

The time has come to add a figure to this and I have been sampling various ideas which will be put into a book.

The exhibition is scheduled for July and the book should accompany the (hopefully) finished piece

Christmas Bibs - appliqué (penquin) and embroidery (snowman) designs were free downloads from Embroidery Garden; bib sewing pattern is from "Boutique Baby" booklet (Four Corners Designs); fabric used: bib fabric is french terrycloth

Mircalla Karnstein finally got some photo time and new clothes. :) She's been neglected. :(

 

The skirt was my first serious project on my new sewing machine. Not 100% good, but good first try. Embroidered the cupcake. Then I eventually got the hang of my new machine, I went on to make the brown blouse. went pretty good! Then I made the hat by hand. Gentle River stock socks.

I used a store bought jean jacket, lopped off the arms, faced the arm holes w/bias binding. The collar fabric was made by placing a bunch of threads and yarns on a pieces of heavy Solvy, then I placed a light weight Sovly on the top and sewed it all down , FME with Hollowsheer. Then I washed out the solving, cut it up & bling bling!

St James The Great Pulpit Fall. The three shells are symbols for St James and the fish are to represent a 'Fisher of Men'. The background is layers of different fabric sewn together and then different layers cut away (Reverse applique). French knots were used in white to put the foam on the waves.

Machine embroidery; machine quilted

a new litttle designs for my shop. i really like the simple applique in the style of kawaii.

Elegant pink baby carriage from an Urban Threads design.

I was having problems with the bobbin thread showing. I tried adjusting tension, about a billion times. Finally, I changed bobbins, and POOF .. it was better.

 

This is a FLAT sewout with tear away backing. I did not add batting to this test of the design. I always test my designs to see how they are going to look before I sew on any actual garment/project.

I changed the colours mostly because I only had a very limited palette of threads to work with but also because I felt the original looked a little washed out.

I have many thank you cards to make following my birthday so I decided to batch make a few.

I machine embroidered some basic cartoon faces although they will look very different when they are decorated.

Their characters are starting to show already

The letterings was digitized by me, the flowers was found among the files I have at home, and re-arranged around the name. Sewn out with embroidery threads for once! (I only have a few, these threads are expensive!)

 

Cheap towel, but this is not a sure present. I do not know if I was supposed to give present to her or not. (she is not attending to our christmas party). She's an old lady at 92 or was it 93, but all clear in head and lives by herself in her home. Tough lady!
