I painted a sheet of tyvek and cut it into a leaf shape. I used machine embroidery for the skeleton then heated it to make it curl.
The little screen on the computer was a print screen of a site I visit a lot printed onto some canvas.
I made the washcloth tote that was featured in episode 9 of The DIY Dish! This time I added a smaller piece of twill tape so that it would be more of a carrying case. I also embroidered this sweet little design from Lil' Rascals at SWAKembroidery.com!
I digitized these (for one time personal use embroidery) from Andrea Zuill's artwork. Her shop is etsy.com/shop/badbird.
Former cheap crappy Tesco hoody, made fantastically wearable with a bit of old t-shirt and some octo-sketching.
The black panel covers the mess I made trying to unpick the original motif...
An appliquéd and machine embroidered cushion for a competition in the craft department of the local Garden Centre
I love the late afternoon light in Winter and the amazing sunsets. This piece is called : Winter Sunset Seen Through Tall Grasses. For me it depicts the shortlived flashes of color that are some of Winter's gifts. It is 91/2 inches wide by 11 inches high. The base is black metallic flecked felt. The center is a photo transfer of a winter sunset printed from Lesley Riley paper to cotton. The surround is embellished yarns and machine stitching. The frame is embellished and machine stitched felt.
Crazy Quilt type machine embroidered blocks. The sashing was done with satin ribbons and a tiny button was stitched at the center of each block's sashing, which was twisted.
Get out the sewing machine and play.
I made this small coaster from scraps left over from other projects.
This was made for the fairy quilt swap that I hosted on Swap-bot. I am angeling this one for someone who was flaked on.
The center piece is a macine embroidered. Three frames are then added, first pink satin, second a floral flannel, third a dotted quilting cotton. Three strips in the same fabric were added to the bottom to gain the correct dimension for a qilt. This top was layered with a center layer of white flannel and another piece of cotton on the back. Quilted along the seamlines with decorative machine stitches. Two strips of lace were added along the bottom portion. I serged the edges and then topstiched a bead fringe around most of the side. I stopped the fringe about 1-1/2" from the top and did not do any along the top. Because I figured that the fringe would get in the way of the fairy trying to sleep.
I'm having an enjoyable time machine embroidering some portraits for my next exhibition piece.
This is based on images which are not gender specific and it's been tricky getting just the right amount of ambivalence in the drawings.
As an experiment I copied some old drawings from a sketch book and printed them out on to fabric. I then cut off the hair and machined around the image.
New hair was then applied in an attempt to alter the gender.
The results were not conclusive but great fun.
Got a new free embroidery foot for my Elna 2600, so exciting!! Just tried to write my name and dig a bit of playing around. Want to start something amazing. Took these pictures on my new phone, surprised at the quality, fantastic!
Made for the 2013 Creative Pay it Forward. Recipient does cancer and other fundraising walks. Purple is for Alzheimers. Shirt deliberately big, loose & comfy (I did remove the hoop marks before shipping it off :-)
