In a single process, the peacock feather design is added with "dye-paint" in a discharge paste carrier. The design outline is machine embroidered with variegated cotton thread, size 12.
Once again, poor Fearghus the cairn terrier, had to suffer being a model for a newly completed facsinator hat. He only stayed still because my husband had a treat in his hand. They're both good sports.

Working from a rough sketch made in Canterbury Cathedral many years ago, I have started to free machine embroider a face.
I am under stitching the yellow base before starting on the flesh colour.

Today I packed up my rooster and sent him off to seek his fortune. I couldn't resist a few more shots!
Machine embroidered free standing black lace mask with green crystals on one side, and purple crystals on the other. Finished with a black feather accent on one side.
Finished with black satin ribbon ties (about 16 inches long per side), this mask would be great for any Mardi Gras event, masquerade ball, or even Halloween. It's very lightweight and comfortable to wear for hours.
