There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment.
We are making photographs to understand what our lives mean to us.
The best thing about a picture is that it never changes, even when the people in it do.
The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.
I really believe there are things nobody would see if I didn’t photograph them.
Apart from fleeting dots across the local skies there's been no real chance to photograph much of interest during lockdown ......so whilst down the bottom of the garden - I heard the characteristic 'Wokka Wokka' of a Chinook approaching from the East and with my camera in the house, a bit of government approved exercise re-united me with it just as the Chopper turned up the bend in the river and managed to grab a trio of shots into sun as it flogged by.
No returns showing on ADS-B but some 10 minutes later ZH775 aka 'SHF473' showed up North of Chichester - however, a quick peruse of the images and the feint serial painted on her side revealed her as being the same airframe
Well it was different but being into sun I decided on a B&W rendition here as it's not the best of exposures

Just after the second Covid-19 national lockdown ended, GB Railfreight Class 92, 92020 races north through Hartford with the Caledonian Sleeper Down Highlander (1S25).
A reduced service was running in response to the second national Covid-19 lockdown, with only one train running in each direction serving Edinburgh and Inverness. The usual services to Glasgow, Aberdeen and Fort William were cancelled.

Gosh!!
As of midnight tonight... South Africans will not be allowed to leave our homes for 21 days... except to buy groceries... or in emergency situations!
Damn... that means no more walks in the forests for me... and no more leisurely lunches at any of our local restaurants! How will I manage to survive!? ;)
Fortunately I have this amazing view of the Gouna River Gorge right at my doorstep. I can see and photograph this scene without leaving the farm.
I've now shot this gorge on three occasions at sunset... but there are still plenty of photographic opportunities that await me here.
I still haven't captured the blue-hour here... nor a star-trails shot... nor an early morning scene with mist. The opportunities are abounding! :)
This is a 4-image zoomed-in panorama which I captured yesterday afternoon... about half-an-hour before sunset.
Please stay safe everyone!
As we enter into week 13 of Lockdown in Scotland, Lothian Buses continue to operate its critical service on its key routes. From next week Lothian are planning to increase frequencies on certain routes to help with more people to return to work.
Lothian 475 here on a very quiet Princes Street on a route 31 duty heading to East Craigs. 16th June 2020.
As of Tuesday 29 June at 6.00pm, South East Queensland and also the Townsville and Magnetic Island regions of North Queensland have entered an initial three day snap lockdown as the state battles to get under control four different COVID clusters, one of which is of the more transmissible Delta variant. There are also current lockdowns in place for a large breakout around Sydney and also in Perth and Darwin. Given the challenges Melbourne has faced during the pandemic with a number of lengthy lockdowns, they are free of cases at the moment and we hope it will remain that way.
Last week, things looked pretty normal downstream of the Victoria Bridge in central Brisbane where lots of cranes signal some ambitious developments along the Brisbane River.
The Victoria Bridge itself has now gone car less as it is readied for the new Metro bus network and more pedestrians. Looking downstream, the cranes on the left are the major Queens Wharf casino, hotel and entertainment complex which is being built on the site of former government offices. Many of these including the state government executive are now housed in the large building just beyond, despite the sign on the top for a large superannuation (retirement savings) company. Brisbane's Central Business District is out of shot on the left.
There are more cranes on the right hand side beside Southbank Parklands and these are on barges in the river and involved in a new pedestrian bridge that will link Queen's Wharf with Southbank. The bridge will be named after Neville Bonner (1922-1999) who was the first Australian aboriginal person to become a Federal parliamentarian. In the distance, the new underground Cross River rail line will pass well below the water.
New pedestrian bridges are very popular in Brisbane right now with two more "green bridges" as they like to call them planned for Kangaroo Point to the City and another down near Newstead.
