In case this picture is misleading anyone, I’ll clarify that the idea with a side loader is to empty the bin into the hopper, not all over the arm itself. I’ve failed this concept a few times in the past and not because I’m a complete retard, rather due to distraction and/or a lack of observation. In view directly beneath the hopper access ladder is a white plastic bag..... this caused the catastrophe. As the previous bin lowered towards the ground, this bag flew out, floated in the air and caught my attention just as I grabbed the next bin. As per usual I hooked the joystick in the back right corner to simultaneously retract the slide and raise the arm, but instead of watching the arm movement in the mirror, my attention was diverted to this flying bag. To my dismay I witnessed the bag come to rest on top of the slide beam and cover up one of the sensors, which resulted in signal blockage and stoppage of the slide retracting.
As soon as I saw where the bag landed, I flicked my gaze around to the side mirror, seeing the slide stationary in the shown position and the arm continuing to raise the bin towards the hopper. After getting a visual of the unfolding circumstances in the mirror, I literally shouted out “NOOOOOOO!!!” in terror, then next thing the bin was inverted with the contents pouring all over the arm and onto the road. Fail. Of course the bin didn’t hold a single bag or two, it was fully loaded with sloppy and badly contained garbage, plus it was raining and a few members of the public witnessed the unsuccessful lift. My mind registered the likely outcome once I saw the bag cover the sensor, but everything happened so quick I didn’t even get the chance to consider releasing the joystick! After a few swear words and brief dissatisfaction over the event, I quickly got some humour out of the disaster and knew this was something worth sharing =]
Wanted to make one last drone for droneuary. Drones are pretty fun and easy to make with my limited parts at school, so I think I'll continue for a while with them :)
Coal from the nearby Ffos-y-fran open pit coal mine is washed and processed at the Cwmbargoed wash plant prior to despatch to Miller Agent’s customers, which includes Tata Steel, the cement industry in Derbyshire (Hope) and various heritage railways in UK. In this scene, 66156 loads up with coal at the Cwmbargoed Disposal point for despatch to Port Talbot on the 6C94.
Soooo I fell in love with Katie Mallettes page on the video, so much so that I immediately got up to scrap lift at 6am this morning!!!!! Hoping I've done it some justice :)xxxx
Cannon, used in the re-enactment of the Battle of Nantwich. The cannons were extremely noisy and smoky - this one made me jump out of my skin when it first fired! At one point, it blew a perfect smoke ring across the battlefield but unfortunately I didn't capture that.
Today's prompt had me thinking "when life gives you lemons..." and the search thru my photo gallery resulted in these three photos that definitely put on a positive spin...and Hazel ( my niece's 3 mths' old Labradoodle pup) is so cute...

This is kind sorta inspired by/scraplifted from a LO I saw on the Studio Calico blog today. So in compliance with the ducks in a row theme for today, I put my pps in a row--all scraps. Yay!

Here’s the trio of Inner West side loaders for the former Ashfield area parked up together at the front of the dealership. They were scattered on the day I was informed of their existence, so I felt blessed to find them side by side when I visited personally the next day - made for a good photo! All of these trucks are almost completely identical 6x4 units, the only difference being the middle truck has a 27m capacity and the left/right trucks have 24m bodies. I imagine you basically have one of these 3 trucks dedicated to each of the 3 waste streams (garbage, recycling, greens). I figure the green-waste truck can still go into a load of garbage or recycling like it has in the past, but perhaps even the recycling truck can do alternative collections now that it’s a bogie and a rear loader has been added to do the same job. Seeing these ACCOs parked up together, I can say the new cab face has really grown on me now, looks pretty sweet! Personally I believe the presence of the visor is a must for these trucks though; doesn’t look complete without it. Saying this I still remain a loyal fan of the 2007 2350G design... the ultimate mean looking garbage truck cab :D
