I loved the dark burgundy section of this tunnel. Being lucky enough to catch the light trail passing through the centre of the frame really adds to it too (and that red glow reflection on the poster!).

Moments prior I had been taking shots just before the tunnel. A couple of guys wandered past and stopped. My heart sank- they were going to engage us in conversation. I always feel so, so awkward as I really just want to take my photographs and be left alone. They were perfectly nice but there were loads of questions about what Michael and I were doing. Anxiety levels increased, embarrassment increased. Argh.

R615 pulls its second cut of empties underneath the loadout at Creech.

Backed towards the end of in-service track, a ballast train waits for all departing trucks to leave the Quarry, before pulling forward to start loading.

The loading conveyor is located right on the former mainline, and the only access road to the quarry for customer trucks is blocked during the entire loading process. Due to this, trains usually will shove to clear the crossing until quarry employees are ready to load and customer trucks have left.

Beneath the pier, silence becomes structural—held, distributed, and sustained by the pylons below. Light is permitted only where the architecture allows it, while darkness gathers as mass rather than absence. The water passes through. The structure endures.

The other day I uploaded a long, wide load on the Leichhardt Highway between Moura and Wandoan in Queensland. Well, there were two loads and here is the second. This one was actually wider than the other, and if you look closely for the flags that distinguish the outside edges of the load, you will see that there is very little room left on the road. For this one, we were over as far as we could get and we still saw the load sweep past my nose!

It's 20 degrees on the first day of spring in VT. (lots of snow and more on the way). However, we remain hopeful. A little humor.

An SD70ACe leads BNSF C NAMPAM 050A past the E MONNAM 008A at Napier Center waiting its turn to come west on the BNSF St. Joseph Sub.

Coal used to be king on this stretch of track, and depending upon the day it still is. Today was one of those days with plenty of Wyoming black diamonds going east and the empties headed back to the mines for another load.

Every time I go to the Hawley/Lake Park area, I hope I get to see at least one loaded coal train working up the grade. It used to be pretty much a sure thing, but this was the only one we saw all day. It didn't disappoint, though, as it roared through the cut east of Hawley.

Leading their maiden voyage after being released from the shops at Huntington, two freshly rebuilt/repainted SD70ACs lead E900-25 into the control point known as East End Double Track in Barboursville, WV, on the Logan Sub. This train is emtpies for Peach Creek, where they will then run to a local mine in the Logan area for loading.

BNSF GP39-2R 2825 leads a cut of grain loads in Superior, WI on the morning of June 26, 2017. The 2826 and 2627 are working a switch job out of 28th Street and are coming to a stop with a cut of grain loads near Fraser Shipyard. Once switches are thrown, the Geeps will shove back towards the CHS elevators on Superior's waterfront.

The engineer is probably enjoying the AC on the lead GP30 rebuilt, on a rare warm morning for this June by the lake. I am not liking the weathering that appears to be taking place on the number boards and GP30 brow, which hasn't been out of the paint shop for too long. Hopefully this nice looking GP30 will hold up through the years.

Fairlane loads for Proctor roll south through Zim behind a nice EMD-GE trio.

Slogging away from a large spring thunderstorm we find CN taconite loads from the Fairlane plant in Forbes, Minnesota bound for Proctor and the Duluth docks on the way south behind three different SD40's -2 or -3 which ever you prefer. I kept missing the lightning bolts, but just as well I was glad I stayed with this guy and had sun all the way south and did not stay north and get soaked for 4 hours of rain . . .
