Line symmetry.

Backlit leaf. Loved the assignment. Made me really look at the lines on leaves and the amazing imperfect perfection of each leaf.

Line Symmetry

The adult moth of this species has grey-brown wings with large areas of transparency. The bases of the forewings are white. The head and thorax are white with black dots. The legs and abdomen are red. The moth has a wingspan of about 5 cms.

The moth has an amazing "frothing" defence mechanism, shared by other moths of the genus Amerila. When disturbed, it exudes a frothy yellow fluid from glands beside the eyes, and makes a sizzling noise.

The species is found in :

Northern Territory,

Queensland, and

New South Wales,

Australia

Latest offering for Macro Monday Group. While editing the barb lines started to make me cross eyed!

my palm tree in the garden, was inspired to find the natural symmetry in it...

This little snippet of Columbine leaf has multiple lines of symmetry. The main stem has symmetrically placed secondary leaflets and on each of the little sections, the leaf sections are symmetrically arranged. Look carefully at the individual leaflets. There is near symmetry along each of the central veins! Ain't Nature marvellous!!! HMM

For HMM theme "Line Symmetry": Apple stem.

For "Macro Mondays" "Line Symmetry"

Macro of a Waterford crystal water glass. It was hard to get a symmetric shot of this because of the glass's curve, but I finally succeeded. Couldn't decide between the lovely color (on my photostream) and the B&W version (here), but the patterns are clearer in B&W - so are the two knome-like faces that appear out of the shadows.

My second attempt for today's theme in Macro Mondays Group. A part of seashell.

This is a segment of a plastic kitchen utensil which allows you to finely cut lettuce, cabbage and onions to name a few items it can be used for. The red effect is caused by adding water and food colouring below in the chopping bowl. Hopefully, you like my abstract take on this weeks Macro Monday theme of Line Symmetry HMM

I know, I know: this view has been shown a thousand times already - but I love this great, breathtaking architecture : ))

Taken from the famous window recess at the second floor of the southern wing - where I had to queue up to take a few photos ...

and yes: there are pigeons on the glass roof

(sehr viele davon!!)

Not perfect but as close as I could get without the use of a mirror. The line runs top to bottom through the centre of the image. It’s a small noughts & crosses game played with black & white sheep.

A Macro Mondays submission on the topic "Redux 2018", i.e. a new photograh using a theme from 2018. Here I have chosen "Line symmetry", and this is an orchid, beautifully displaying bilateral symmetry.

HMM and Happy New Year to all Macro Mondayers - may 2019 bring lots of small wonders!
