This brownish chocolate coloured leaf was lit up in the sunshine, now glowing a brilliant red colour.

This is the underside of the leaf, and it shows natural symmetry quite well.

A moment before, the beautiful dragonfly showed perfect symmetry. In order to be able to hold on to the rocking leaves better, she grabbed a leaf again quickly and already the perfect symmetry is gone.

In nature, line (or reflection) symmetry is always approximate. Most animals are bilaterally symmetrical, showing reflection symmetry where the body is divided into right and left halves, although the structures considered symmetrical rarely match exactly.

This image was shot with a small snail (being unable to find a larger one), the distance between the eyes was about 1cm. The snail was photographed using f3.2 as I was looking to keep just the eyes in focus in order to emphasise the bilateral symmetry of the snail's face with the rest of the body out of focus. This individual seemed quite entranced with its image in the reflective surface.

After having a go at photographing some flowers for the Macro Mondays theme of "Line Symmetry" I wasn't too happy with the results and was struggling compositionally finding a subject with a good background so last minute I switched to arranging some bulldog clips into an arc.

Any flower shows excellent line symmetry about any diameter. I have lots of flower photos every week, However that seemed to be too obvious and way too easy.

This photo is quite different. There is a rough line symmetry about a line from the bottom, just to the right of the lowest bud, then sloping upward to the left, through the cactus top in the center. It is not perfect, but that makes it all the more interesting to my eye.

This macro is just about 3.5 inches (7.25 centimeters) wide.

St. Jesse of Tsilkani in Georgia is one of the twelve Syrian disciples of St. John of Zedazeni who are remembered as the founding fathers of Georgian monasticism.

The photograph is of the partially complete church dedicated to St Jesse and funded by a Georgian billionaire who has been particularly attracted to rural Wales and my local area. Construction work has stopped at the exterior and the interior is just a vast empty space.

St Jesse is historical fact!

The rest is a figment of my imagination.

All you have is a folded and cut piece of paper just within the 3 inch requirements. I was surprised at the effect different types of paper made to the appearance.

The paper shape has the line symmetry even if the lighting makes it look a bit different. Instead of background to set off the object I've included foreground!
